Assalamalaikum this documentary has bought back memories. A few years ago I went into a takeaway and asked if they were Halal and the guy behind the counter laughed at me and said “Do you really think that their is a guy with a knife in the slaughtering houses saying Allah Hu Akbar every time he kills millions of chickens it’s all the same haram and halal” I was gobsmacked but it did actually get me thinking and this was in the UK.

@conor mctapper there are places to get meat that are 100% halal, but that will cost a lot more money then going to your run of the mill shop that sells halal, but going vegan and vegetarian ain't that bad and as the person above me said, we just can't believe it's wrong to eat meat.

I’m not religious either and I actually wish halal meat would be banned because I think it’s inhumane. I didn’t know the intention behind using sharp knife in halal slaughtering- which is to ease animals pain. As Muslims, wouldn’t it make more sense for you to follow the intentions of Allah as opposed to the procedure to achieve this intention that was described before stunning was invented? Stunning was invented to ease animals pain even further comparing to sharp objects. Do you think Allah, assuming his desire to ease animal pain, would like it that you blindly follow this procedure instead of thinking “how can I ease animal pain? Maybe stunning is the answer?”

As a Christian I'm finding it difficult that we can cut meat for it to be "Halal" yet "On the Day of Resurrection, some of the Muslims will come with sins like mountains, but Allaah will forgive them and will put them (the sins) onto the Jews and Christians.” So this hadeeth is saheeh. "

in Malaysia recently there's a big ruckus that a multimillion-dollar company was importing non-halal meat from Australia and pose it as halal...and it has been going on for 40years. It got a lot of backlashes but somehow it is swept under the rug as some of high ranking government officials was involve, possibly from our very own halal certification body. so our citizens just avoid getting any meat from Australia just to be safe.

It is well known that Islam has forbidden image-making, drawing and sculpting every animate being that Allaah has created; there are stern warnings issued to those who do that.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The most severely punished of the people on the Day of Resurrection will be the image-makers.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5950) and Muslim (2109).

In Belgium I went to a Syrian restaurant 'Palmyra', I asked them if the meat is halal? They immediately nodded their heads that yes it is. Sadly, when it was time to order drinks, the waiter asked me which alcohol I would prefer, I found that question quiet odd as previously I had asked if the meat is halal or not. I told him I am Muslim, so he persisted that you can taste a little. At that point I had already eaten the meat. I knew at that moment that when they have no shame asking one to drink alcohol, there is no guarantee that the meat is halal.

Otherwise why do we have fangs and enzymes in our stomachs which works to digest protein in meat. Veganism is against our nature but that doesn't mean you should eat alot of meat as well. Many celebrities who started this vegan trend became dull, their bodies showed many sins of weakness.

Asalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. I have been a butcher in local halal and mainstream halal meat shops. I realised many issues working there for nearly 10 years, I brought my concerns to local imams and students of knowledge here in UK. They said all meat produced in UK is classified as ahlul kitab which I found to be in the grey. Secondly, they responded saying buy halal meat from where you trust if the supplier promises halal process and their muslim by default you have to trust their word and if their lying the sin falls on them. We can start donating towards some sort of project that could end up with a reliable,God-fearing, not money hungry group of Muslims buying an abattoir ? I dunno . Too confusing.

I myself live in a suburb where there's a few mosques literally 10 minutes drive from the next 2 mosques. This is great and I'm happy for it but I think money could go elsewhere to benefit the whole community especially since food affects us all and we need it to be halal. Obviously there's communities with no mosques and I'm not referring to those.
Amazing documentary but no solutions provided yet so we are all confused and helpless. Haven't heard anything from local leaders yet sadly.

I worked closely with Halal restaurants in Malaysia, the standards are fine but the implementation, from my perspective, is full of loopholes and corruptions. In order to get Halal certification from JAKIM, your kitchenware and appliances have to be from "those" companies, which are significantly more expensive than you usual commercial counterparts. Also, some ingredients that are not possibly to be produced in "Haram" manners also have to be purchased from the "Halal" suppliers or JAKIM will come and raid your kitchen for this particular reason. Who are behind those companies and suppliers? you know, those who set the standards.

Slaughter when unnecessary i.e. the best justification being it tastes good is morally reprehensible, this is a deal breaker for me giving consideration to becoming a Muslim!! An enlightened religion would not cause others(human & non-human) to suffer unnecessarily!!

    • @AhmedAshraf-pd7mu

@@veganath Totally untrue. Slaughtering the Islamic way should cause nearly no pain. Do your research please. The animal goes unconscious immediately (the movments are involuntary), and as you don't feel much when you cut yourself by mistake, they don't feel much in the first few seconds before going unconscious.
      Islam do clearly care about the feelings of animals and there are a lot of rules and records that shows that, for example;
      - It is haram to slaughter animals in front of each other.
      - It is a must (which means not doing it is haram) to use very sharp knife while Slaughtering
      - You are very encouraged to consume less in general (Islam didn't promote veganisim, which doesn't make sense in my opinion. Animals in the wild suffer fare more than our farm animals, and we humans have been designed to eat a variable diet including meat)
      - This isone story of many to show how our prophet cared about animals feelings. He saw one of his followers trying to convince his camel to move by tricking him to think hhat he has food in some container. So prophet Mohamed askes him would you actually feed the camel? The guy said no, I just wanted him to get moving. So prophet Mohamed strongly criticised his act and told him that this is considered lying.
      - In onther story prophet Mohamed saw someone making his camel work so hardly thay it was clearly very tired and consumed. He did the same, told the guy not to do so, and that the animals feel as much as we humans do and overworking them is haram.
(There are many other stories, these just were examples)

@@AhmedAshraf-pd7mu *_"Slaughtering the Islamic way should cause nearly no pain"_* you are using violence to forcible evicting the animal from it's body when it is unnecessary unlike Eskimos who only have out of necessity fish to eat!!
I'm sorry but I am making the case for LESS violence & suffering in society and you want to make the case & argue for more?
*_"Islam do clearly care about the feelings of animals"_* people who sincerely care for the feelings & welfare of animals(human & non-human) do not cause them to suffer unnecessarily. For the word necessary to mean anything it cannot include amusement, convenience or pleasure. So when a plant food alternative is available and you choose violence to an animal then that is morally reprehensible.
*_"You are very encouraged to consume less in general "_* progress of a kind I guess. Better still avoid all the bloody mess and go Vegan, why not??

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion
I'm glad that you found values that you feel peace with, but I don't think it is good practice to try imposing them on others.
I also don't think it is practical for everyone to be vegan, it needs a lot of effort and planing (because let's face the fact, we are omnivores by nature). And by the way, to me suppressing the ones nature would be the thing that doesn't make sense in a religion (and Islam doesn't suppress humans nature, it controls it, behaves it "which makes sense to me, because if you don't controls your nature with your brain you are just an animal", but never suppress it).
Personally I eat vegetarian some days and consume some meat that I know was slaughtered in the most merciful way (because I slaughter my own small animals and birds, and source my beef from a local butcher) some days.
