Same I'm a big steam locomotive 🚂 geek and they also ran here in New Jersey, In North Jersey where I'm from the Erie and NYSW or Susquehanna ran steam through Bergen County and in Hackensack and Paterson in Passaic which is also importantly home to the ex Rogers Locomotive Works which the Erie relied on and in Ridgefield Park and up into Dumont was the New York Central West Shore Line which was also used the NYO&W and power on that route was mostly Pacifics like the K11 class and Mohawks although even Niagaras were permitted when bridges were strengthened during World War 2, In central Jersey you had the CNJ and also DL&W or Lackawanna which ran the Morris & Essex in the Newark area which had both steam and electric power in 1930 when Thomas Edison himself inaugurated the first MU sets which are now owned by the Whipanny Railroad Museum
I'm not sure if anyone else ever noticed this stunning little mechanical detail, but the locomotive drive wheels are are phased at 90° apart from the right to left sides of the train just like real trains. Meaning that as the right side piston is on it's power stroke the left piston will be on it's power stroke 90° later. Unless you're looking for this specifically you'd never even notice it, someone put some real love into designing this game. 🙂🇦🇺
I think nyc 999 can be seen anytime in rdr2 mainly in Saint Denis. The chapter 1/private train tender is probably a customization cause other locomotives do have that cab tender in real life like frisco 1630 tender
I like this video you've researched most of the things you got the facts around but can I just say this you're complaining that they added the link and pin coupler over the cow catcher and did not fill in the hole where the knuckle coupler would go yet the draw bar on the tender is replaced with a knuckle coupler
GTA v is even worse than the trains in red dead redemption 2 for a fact because i have played GTA v multiple times and what i found was that there was british train cars in one of the railroad yards in GTA v ☠️☠️☠️☠️
More than one location actually, First is in the steel mill next to the south end of the Elysian Fields Freeway in East Lost Santos, the other is at the end of a rail siding off the main road through Paleto Bay at he north end of the map. I've seen one more location in the various videos of train-mods that put new trains on "abandoned/unused" tracks in the industrial area (I wasn't able to find that last location on my X360 version, but it's somewhere in the East Los Santos industrial area hear the area you're mentioning, possibly just in the PC version)
6:58 the different paint schemes are tied to different railroads. Some don’t haul passengers
5:42 the first steam powered train to go over 100 mph was the atmospheric railway when the cab car got loose and went up the hill absurdly fast
I love the steam trains of the Red Dead Redemption universe.

Nice video! Good work brotha 🙏
It's nice to see all of this in a game that is not primarly about trains, but gotta admit the scales are all over the place...
Did you have a stroke while typing this

I wanted to make a video about the RDR trains and railroad on a different account but this video made me realise that I don't know anything
What about the black train in anesburg? In rdr2
The signals look like lms semaphores
R* Probably just looked at old footage of trains & based it off that.
