Brilliant........simply brilliant......loved the show. If memory serves me right it was aired on a Friday night. Never missed with mom and dad and brother's John & Alan............my favourite character..............Arthur.( Michael Robbins ) all great artists thou......⭐🇬🇧👍🙋♂️.
On The Buses: loved by fans , hated by the media critics( too bawdy and working-class )-usually a sure sign that somethings good ! 15:22-One of the many reasons I loved this show as a kid!
Bet you wdnt dare call someone chalky or Dracula.. makes me sick we can’t say what we want in our own country without offending some non English git. Chalky was named that bcs he did the scoring for darts
He was constantly working on stage for well over a decade after On The Buses, it wasn't until the late 80's that his work dried up. It's a myth that he did nothing after the show ended.
@@jamesbyersmusic Nobody said that he didn’t do nothing after the show ended. They said he never worked on television again when On the Buses finished.
Blakey wasn't the Blakey we know till season 2! He was very normal and quite strict in it! Have alook at some of the new colourized season 1 and 2 on TH-cam!
They said a few times, You wouldn't get away with that today, but sadly that is what's missing from today's comedy, that tongue in cheek humour, and that's why nobody watches today's comedy, it is just not funny anymore like it was in on the buses days.
They totally missed the point of why the black character was called, 'chalkie', in that the old style of humour that's deemed as, 'politically incorrect', was a mainstay of how comedy worked, in that everyone, regardless, was treated more or less the same and had their legs pulled or were referred to in such a jovial way, not as a form of derision, but because they were considered as being part of the team. No-one took offence to such name-calling apart from those who wanted to make an issue out of what was a non-issue. The problem today is that they take what's supposed to be taken in jest far too seriously for their own good. Calling a black guy, 'Chalkie', was no different to calling a tall person, 'Shortie', or a fat person, 'Slim.' It was part of the camaraderie of being accepted as part of a, 'gang', that went back to when people served in the armed forces. Of course it's making fun of an aspect of their identity, but then isn't it better to look on the funny side of things than to be total miseries who, 'take offence', at the slightest observation of the differences between us all?
@@j0hnf_uk Couldn't have put it better myself mate, the thing i have noticed is it is not the blacks who are the ones complaining, it's white middle class who have nothing better to do so they want us to be miserable like them, here in the black country we don't have any problems with it like on tv, we still call a spade a spade and always will, we had a black work friend some years ago who came to work one winter in a white woolly hat, from then on he was called Guinness, and he thought it was hilarious, just don't let the bar stewards grind you down.
Hated this, not that it was that bad. But in the Merchant Navy at that time we only had so many videos (reel to reel) usually for a period of several months and this was one of them together with Diamonds are Forever. When you seen them 20 times...........

The Good Old Day's, Regards Everyone,
one of the Greatest Comedy shows ever made
I agree
Take me back to this time, when adults could laugh at each others expense. NO MISERABLE WOKESTERS.
This show takes me right back to the seventies when i was a kid lol
I FELL OFF MY CHAIR THAT SCENES WITH BLAKY OH MY GOD LOOOOOOL
Brilliant. And not too removed from the reality of the workplace even today.
..except chalky is now the 'star of the show' .. .

A classic comedy for ever 😅
I worked on the buses from 2007-14 and we certainly had the real life characters and our own Blakey!
Hahaha you should write a revival of On The Buses

I've always loved Stan
Perfect situation comedy at its best. Very funny and a great cast
BRILLIANT IT WAS
Its funny to this that old Blakey played by a 32 year old, and stan butler was 51 years old at the start of filming. 😅
Thanks for sharing 😉😂😂😂 love it
Classy good old Stan and Jack superb sadly missed
Comedy gold
Michael Robbins is sorely missed .....
They all are...
I'm thinking of getting this on Dvd.
Well worth it. It's on Amazon. Full episodes. With extras.tidy one.
classic comedy with very good actors, script (reflecting late 60's - 70s of UK) but feel sorry for plight of bob grant
...Bob enjoyed himself ...dont worry about it ....
REG VARNEY MY FAV
Bob Grant was fab! He should've been booked lots more after On The Buses.
