Great idea!! Umm...maybe we should warn him they have over 200 songs in their discography??? They have so many covers ( that are really upgrades) and originals...and boatloads of Christmas songs too!
Pentatonix is the best at what they do, and they are genuinely kind, warm hearted people who clearly love each other. It shows in everything they do. This song is a classic and has been covered by many artists - but this version is a standout - they do it live and the live versions are also outstanding.
There is something so special about their ability, to tell the songs story, allowing us to listen with a new perspective, and hear & feel emotions, we may not have heard from the original artist 💖💖💖 Not only their voices, but their delivery is also their gift! *IMO, no other group, can build up a song, like Pentatonix* They are masters at pulling on our emotions!!! 💗💗💗💗💗💗 *They are individually so talented, however, when put together, it is truly magical* 💗💗
The best-known three a capella groups these days are Pentatonix, Home Free, and Voiceplay - Just my opinion, but PTX have the most diverse range of music genres - Unbelievable talent and a bunch of very nice people - Check out Can't Hold Us, 90s Dance Medley, The Sound of Silence and Daft Punk Medley to get a taste of what they can do - c
Welcome to the rabbit hole! PTX won the Sing Off the year before Home Free. They have won 3 Grammy’s and been nominated 5 times (as of this week). They got their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this year! Welcome to the Pentaholics fam!
Great reaction!! This is my go to a capella group! They're 3 Grammy winners, have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, practically OWN christmas with 8 Christmas albums, have collab's with Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, Lindsey Stirling, and Jason Derulo. They're known worldwide, and especially in Japan. The members: 1st singer: Scott Hoying, baritone. Scott has a massive vocal range, just like the rest of the group...about 5 octaves big. He sings the bass vocals when the bass sings lead or a verse. 2nd singer: Avi Kaplan, bass. Technically, Avi is a basso profundo...he's an opera trained bass with vocals so low, he breaks speakers...the group had to eventually travel with their own speakers because of that. Avi left the group amicably in 2017 for personal reasons and now enjoys a great solo career. 3rd singer: Kirstin ( Kirstie) Maldonado, mezzo soprano/alto soprano. Kirstie has a lovely bright voice and great belting abilities. She and the next member are like chameleons, both are fashion marvens and constantly change their looks, hair colours and lengths 4th singer: Mitch Grassi, counter tenor. Mitch has one of the few truly high pitched vocals in the world. He and Kirstie can reach all the way into whistle notes and 6th octave. Like Kirstie, Mitch changes his looks often, so sometimes when unfamiliar reactors see the group, they don't recognize the singers....but they're still Mitch and Kirstie. 5th member: Kevin Olusola, tenor, beatboxer, cellist. Kevin is a genius...really. He graduated pre-med just before making the decision to join Pentatonix. They had contacted him after seeing a video of him beatboxing WHILE playing the cello...perfectly. They wanted him to join them to enter a TV show competition for a Capella groups. He said yes...and they won...and are still together 12 years later. Kevin also speaks several languages including Mandarin, play sax and piano, helps all of the group with songwriting, has perfect pitch and has a really infectious laugh. Some recommendations: Bohemian Rhapsody, 90's Dance medley, Daft Punk medley, Evolution of Michael Jackson, Mad World, Love Again (original,) Run To You ( original), Imagine, When The Party's Over, Attention. Say Something.
@@leahblue_eyes, thanks! I got carried away and completely forgot to add Matt to the family. He's just as special as all the rest vocally and fits in so well with them all with his joyful nature.
Shortly before he passed the gentleman who wrote this song, Leonard Cohen, heard Pentatonix cover of his song. He said it was the best cover he had ever heard of his song and this song gets covered a lot. Right now the song stands at over 700M views
Leonard Cohen wrote Hallelujah over a 30 year period. He kept adding lyrics after it was recorded and he finally ended up with almost 100 verses to the song. The same 3 or 4 verses are usually used by everyone who covers the song. It's never been sung in any church to my knowledge. Leonard heard this version before he died in 2016. He liked it very much.
By the numbers of goodness, Pentatonix is the KING, love Home Free as well. Voice Play is the other Biggie. This video alone has more views than the other groups combined videos. Pentatonix has multiplatinum, and multi-gold, selling albums. 3 Grammy's and now a star on the Walk of Fame. Just views alone they have over 5 Billion, next closest A Capella group, at 500 million. Also doesn't hurt they have over 19 million subscribers.
I first heard this song watching Shrek. I fell in love with it and then found many different versions. This is the best I have ever heard by a magnitude of 100. They are all exceptionally talented and it does make you literally feel the music in your heart body and soul
Pentatonix They won The Sing Off in 2011. They made a guest starring appearance on America′s Got Talent as non−competitors a couple of years after that. The founding members are:- Scott Hoying (tall blond guy, natural baritone but has an impressive five−to−six octave range, can go all the way up to high tenor and down to bass, sings the bass lines when the usual bass singer takes the lead);
Kirstin "Kirstie" (Rhymes with "Thirsty") Maldonado (the only female member, natural mezzo soprano, but can go down to low alto and as high as upper soprano, also can sing in whistle notes that are off the scale); For a time in 2018 between the group’s tours, had the female lead on Broadway in the production of “Kinky Boots”. Mitch Grassi (a true contra−tenor, can hit high notes in his chest voice with ease and go WAY higher in his falsetto, also with ease); Avriel "Avi" Kaplan (dark beard and long hair), true basso profundo, trained as an opera singer, also can go up into the tenor range; and Kevin "KO" Olusola (beatboxer extraordinaire, also is a world−class cellist who plays cello on some of their songs, has a beautiful high tenor voice and gets occasional lead vocal solos as well, graduated pre−med from Yale and speaks several languages including Mandarin Chinese). Kirstie, Scott & Mitch grew up together in Arlington, Texas, and began performing together as children in local youth musical theater. They ended up in high school together and performed in the choir. While there, they formed an a cappella group called The Trio which had several performance videos go viral on TH-cam, most notably a cover of Lady Gaga′s "Telephone". The three of them are best friends and consider themselves to be almost siblings. Scott & Kirstie (who were a class year ahead of Mitch) both graduated high school in 2010 and went their separate ways to different colleges, Scott at USC and Kirstie at Oklahoma. While at USC, Scott joined a USC−based a cappella group called the SoCal VoCals, where he met alumnus Ben Bram, who was now an arranger and vocal coach for the NBC TV show The Sing Off, an a cappella competition show. Ben convinced Scott to get The Trio to audition for the show. The three reunited (Mitch had to skip high school graduation ceremonies to go) in Los Angeles for the audition. They found out that the rules had changed, so they needed at least five members to audition. Ben put them together with Avi (a native of Visalia, California), who he knew from Avi′s performing days at Mount San Antonio College in California. They found Kevin (from Kentucky) through one of his TH-cam videos that had gone viral featuring him playing the cello and beatboxing at the same time, a talent that Kevin coined as "Cello−Boxing". Kevin arrived in Los Angeles literally the day before the audition! Scott came up with the name "Pentatonix" after the pentatonic scale. They performed a re−arrangement of "The Telephone" for the audition and passed, despite having been together as a five−piece group for less that 24 hours! They won The Sing Off that season (all of the performances are available on TH-cam), in which they received a substantial cash prize AND a record contract with Epic Records. They pooled their prize winnings together and all moved to Los Angeles, and all got apartments right next door to each other in the same building. But just a week later, Epic dropped them because the marketing people didn′t think an a cappella group could sell records. Instead of giving up, they were determined and began recording their own songs on TH-cam, hiring Ben Bram as their producer and arranger. These usually consisted of the five of them sitting on a couch and performing cover songs live. Several of the videos went viral, and Sony (the parent company of Epic) decided to give them another chance by placing them on one of their smaller labels, Madison Gate. They released two secular EPs and one Christmas EP on Madison Gate, all of which were strong sellers. But when their cover of a medley of songs by Daft Punk not only went super−viral, but also won them their first Grammy, they were promoted all the way up to RCA Records, Sony′s top label. They began writing and producing their own songs in addition to their covers, began putting out a Christmas album just about annually (which has become their best−selling genre), and have had multi−platinum album sales, sold−out world tours, and have won two additional Grammys. Avi began getting burned out with all of the touring and heavy recording schedule, was suffering from anxiety and personal problems, and learned that his mother had been diagnosed with cancer in 2017. He announced he was departing from the group and taking some time away from the music industry. Matt Sallee (from Baltimore) joined them in September 2017. He did only become official when they renewed their RCA contract in February 2018, but he recorded with them in September as a featured artist and went on their Christmas tour as a featured artist, as well. When he attended the audition for the group, he had already mastered the Bass part for most if not all their past catalogue. He was successful and has proved that he fits in well with the group. If you think there have been other changes to the line up - look again. This is the ONLY change. Kirstie and Mitch are like chameleons and change looks frequently. It is an often debated subject among the Pentaholics as to just how soon we introduce the "Beginners Guide" as we don't want to overdo the introduction. This is a compilation of snips of a whole load of songs which PTX have released. It highlights each member with some of their solos and then a brief history in video. It is quite long - 14+ minutes and is a little dated now (Feb 2020) but is a good watch th-cam.com/video/lDxIfwfCmQE/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUdYmVnaW5uZXJzIGd1aWRlIHRvIHBlbnRhdG9uaXg%3D. After a year away from music, Avi has now returned as a phenomenal solo artist in the Folk/Americana/Roots genre. Ben Bram has been in charge of their production, including arranging and directing from the beginning. He is often referred to as the sixth member. Scott and Kevin are major players in the arrangements, but every member contributes. A good watch is "The Recording of Evergreen" where a camera was invited into the studio for the second week of recording/ Also, all members are songwriters for both Pentatonix and their own solo work. Ed Boyer who mixes everything of theirs (even the HWB Livestream) is the one who pulled Ben Bram into the sing off in the first place. They have Grammy wins for Daft Punk Medley, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jolene featuring Dolly Parton. They were nominated for a 4th Grammy for their album Evergreen, but didn't win. Kirstie became a new mum which caused a pause in touring after their Evergreen Christmas tour 2021. Mid March 2023 Kirstie has announced that she is engaged to Ben Hausdorff, their videographer. No dates YET! They have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame installed in February 2023. They are the only a capella group with a star! They came 3rd in the 2023 Masked Singer performing as "California Rolls" being unmasked in May 23. Things you need to know because if you get these wrong Pentaholics will come after you with pitch forks and torches! Ha Ha!! 1- There is NO Auto-Tune; what you hear is actually what they sing. They really are that good. One exception is the 90's Dance Medley where Cher used autotune as an effect - so they had to. 2- What produces everything that you hear in the video, you see in the official video. If there is an instrument used in the music, you see it on screen. In the 2022 Christmas album, there are some instruments not featured throughout the album. 3- They never release something on video they can’t reproduce with the exact same quality live on-stage.
Subbing for the Pentatonix rabbit hole! 😂 Mary Did You Know?, Amazing Grace, The Prayer will all bring the big feels. Daft Punk, Bohemian Rhapsody, Sound of Silence, Dance of the SugarPlum Fairy will blow your mind..
"Hallelujah" was written by Leonard Cohen. Despite the name it isn't actually a religious song; it's about love that goes wrong, for whatever reason. Cohen seems to have written about forty verses, but only released seven, of which these four are the ones most frequently covered. The cover that you had heard before was probably by either Rufus Wainwright or Jeff Buckley. Many people first heard it when watching _Shrek,_ which included Rufus Wainwright's recordig of it.
@@troymash8109 No, one half of one verse is a reference to the story of David and Bathsheba, not half the song. In no way does it actually TELL the story or it would also mention David's murder of Bathsheba's husband. Look, yes, it REFERS to 2 Bible stories; it doesn't TELL the stories. Combine that with the first half of the first verse and you have 6 lines that can be fairly characterized as "religious." That's less than half of the song. The song is talking about sexual relationships that go wrong somehow. It uses two examples from the Bible. That doesn't make it a religious song any more than the fact that Pentatonix put it on a Christmas album makes it a Christmas song. If you truly think this is a religious song, what is the message you think it's trying to convey?
@@troymash8109bruh, there's over 70 verses to this song. Only 2 reference biblical stories. Leonard Cohen, the man who wrote it said (before his death) that it's not a religious song, it's about love lost and hearbreak. But yeah, pretend like you know more about the song than the guy who actually wrote it 🙄
Kevin Olusola (beatboxer in this one) mixed a version of “Oh Come, All Ye Faithful” for his Nigerian father and it’s exceptional. I highly recommend Pentatonix “Oh Come, All Ye Faithful” and I feel it needs more love
I’m with you, “O Come, All Ye Faithful” has been reinvented by Pentatonix yet keeps true to the basic melody and lyrics of the song. It is the most joyous and uplifting Christmas song I have heard, you simply cannot listen to it and not feel extremely uplifted.
Started by watching your recent reaction to Bohemian Rhapsody, then I saw this. I’m so excited to watch this! Haha! Thanks for bringing #PTX to your channel!
Leonard Cohen sings the version I’m familiar with. That may be the one you heard. According to Google: Hallelujah" is a song written by Canadian singer Leonard Cohen, originally released on his album Various Positions (1984). Achieving little initial success, the song found greater popular acclaim through a new version recorded by John Cale in 1991.
This group has been together more than 12 years. They met in college. The beatboxer is Kevin and he's a graduate from Yale University; plays the cello, piano, drums and trumpet.
Pentaholic here subbing in the hope of more PTX reactions. My personal favorites are their covers of "The Prayer", "The Sound of Silence", "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Mary, Did You Know?" but I'm happy listening to anything and everything they do. I hit the bell too so I'm hoping to get a notification from you soon about another PTX reaction! Loved your reaction!!
Hallelujah isn't a religious song, even though the lyrics use some religious imagery. It was written by Leonard Cohen, and mostly describes the pain and emotions that can be involved in relationships. Cohen wrote many verses for the song, upwards of 80, but these 4 are some of the most used. However, if you've ever seen the movie Shrek, or Watchmen, you've heard this song (not this group) in those movies. It's been covered many, many times by different artists and groups. The most famous is probably the guitar version by Jeff Buckley. Pentatonix is by far the most commercially and critically successful a cappella group in the world, with over 5 billion total views of their videos on TH-cam, 3 Grammy awards (nominated for a 4th but didn't win), multiple gold and platinum selling albums, and now a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They tour all over the world - this spring they finished their world tour in Europe, Japan, and Asia, had a summer tour in the US, and are getting ready to start their Christmas tour in mid-November. They just released another Christmas album (The Greatest Christmas Hits) and a new video on TH-cam (Please Santa Please, a PTX original song). They're really busy people - and amazingly good at what they do!
I subscribed to your channel when you were so enthused by the Carpenters, because you said you liked good quality music no matter the genre or year it was created. Another good reaction ❤️
Another good A Capello group is Voice Play. Their bass is Geoff Castellucci (who is good friends with Tim Foust from Home Free) Geoff does a lot of single stuff as well, he sings all 4 parts, records, and puts them together to make a "group". He is amazing!
The sound of silence was written by a group called Simon and Garfunkel in 1964 its about the inability of people being able to communicate with each other. The lyrics are POWERFUL
Song was written by Lenard cohen in the early 80’s. The song became famous after Jeff Buckley did a cover. I’m guessing that is the version you heard. other have made covers but this one is none like any of them.
I recommend making a reaction to one of the best vocalists in the world. Meet Diana Ankudinova! Diana has the title - Queen of Goosebumps. Challenge yourself, can you resist the charm of her voice? One of the last comments about Diana's voice: Pffff.... her voice is really very special, unclassifiable, atypical, out of the ordinary... 💖 1) super unique voice (dramatic contralto with polyphonic overtones); 2) the most complex vocal techniques, a bewitching voice; 3) Diana sings in 6 languages : English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Arabic and any musical genre; 4) incredible charisma, artistry and living of any song; 5) a range of 4 octaves, which at the age of 20 is far from the limit and will continue to grow; 6) a large army of fans around the world; 7) an independent artist, without producers and labels, only with the support of fans and reactors like you; 8) more than 17 thousand reactions (all collected in my playlists). Some reactions have 3.7 million views. The incredible fate of a girl found with a broken collarbone at a bus stop and ended up in an orphanage.
One of the most famous hits of the king of rock 'n' roll in an unrivaled gorgeous, phenomenal performance by Diana Ankudinova ( 18 y.o.) Can’t Help Falling in Love (Elvis Presley / DARK VERSION cover) VERY IMORTANT, the video must be original (duration - 8.56m) from Diana's channel, NOT a short pirated copy from "brocoli". 12.7 million views 297k likes - total 1241 reactions to this performance by Diana. ❗ATTENTION: 1) Please use ONLY original content from Diana Ankudinova official channel. 2) Videos from TV shows are often blocked by TH-cam and video EDITING is required. Beautiful to watch you love what you were listening to!! It’s very special!!! You felt it! One duet you might really love, is the song, “Don’t Know Much,” with Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville live at the Grammy’s in 1990, I believe. It’s so beautiful and another song you will definitely feel!! Their chemistry and voices are perfection!!
youtube refreshed my memory of so much music. i'm 63 so the 1970s was my prime music time. folks played instruments; they really sang and performed. also, radio stations played a much bigger variety of music than they do now. i seeing young folks discover all our old favorites. if you haven't discovered motown music you are totally missing out. ask your grandma. :-] i found pentatonix during the pandemic; they really got me through. they make you feel emotional and that's a good stress relief. enjoyed spending a little time with you.
Pentatonix won the tv show “The Sing Off” Home Free won the show the next season. Avi, the bass for Pentatonix sings with Home Free on the song “Ring of Fire”. Check it out👍👍
Truly on the top of the acapella groups. (BTW, Leonard Cohen author of this song) Avi Kaplan, the second guy, has been solo for some years. He has had a wonderful career with songs like Change on the Rise. But really, you couldn't go wrong with any of his songs.
If you saw Shrek, you heard it! And it's not a religious song however, written by Leonard Cohen and performed by many artists. It's about broken love and regret. Please check out their cover of "Creep" whether live on Masked Singer or studio.
Pentatonix is the only a cappella band to have ever won a Grammy, except they've actually won THREE Grammys. They're also the only a cappella band to have a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. THAT'S how good they are. The members of Pentatonix. In this video we have: • First verse: Tall blond guy, Scott Hoying, lyric baritone. In describing a man's vocal range, "lyric" means that the actual range exceeds the nominal range. In Scott's case, he sings everywhere from about the middle of a normal bass range through most of a normal tenor range. Probably five or six octaves. Scott typically takes over the bass harmony line when their bass has a solo. • Second verse: Bearded guy wearing a stocking cap, Avi (pronounced Ah'-vee, emphasis on the first syllable) Kaplan, lyric bass. Avi is an operatically trained basso profundo - his lowest notes have blown out speakers in live performances - but his range extends to somewhere in the middle of a normal tenor range. • Third verse: The only woman in Pentatonix, Kirstin (also called Kirstie, which rhymes with thirsty) Maldonado. Kirstie sings everywhere from a low alto through coloratura soprano, the highest female range. And she has fantastic whistle notes on top of that. Lately Pentatonix has begun referring to her as an alto soprano. • Fourth verse: Guy wearing a wide-brimmed hat, Mitch Grassi (pronounced Grah'-see, emphasis on the first syllable), natural contratenor. No one is certain whether Mitch can sing higher than Kirstie or Kirstie can sing higher than Mitch; I suspect that it varies from day to day, though everyone agrees that Kirstie has better whistle notes. Mitch is known for his ethereally beautiful (some say "angelic") high vocals. Shawn Stockman, of Boyz II Men, has said Mitch has "one of the prettiest voices I have ever heard in my life." Mitch switches seamlessly from chest voice to mixed voice to head voice. He has a range of just over six octaves. And we call that stunned look people get the first time they realize that the beautiful high voice is coming from a man, "being Mitch slapped." • The fifth member of Pentatonix (PTX for short) is Kevin Olusola (pronounced Oh-loosh"-oh-luh', primary emphasis on the second syllable, secondary emphasis on the fourth) beatboxer extraordinaire. There may be a better beatboxer than Kevin, but if so I've never encountered him or her. We don't get to hear Kevin sing as often as we'd like because he's generally too busy being the entire percussion section, but when he does sing he has a lovely tenor voice that occasionally descends to the uppermost reaches of a baritone range. He's also known for the beauty of his falsetto, which I believe goes higher than Mitch can. Kevin has perfect pitch. He began piano lessons at age 4, cello at age 6, and alto saxophone at age 10. When he was a teenager he performed at Carnegie Hall twice, once on the saxophone and once on the cello. He beatboxes while playing the cello, which he refers to as "celloboxing." He graduated from Yale in 2011 with a pre-med major and had already been accepted to Yale Medical School when he gave up his dream of becoming a surgeon to pursue his dream of becoming a professional beatboxer instead. He speaks five languages fluently: English, French, German, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese. He's one of the kindest people in the world, and when he laughs the whole planet seems like a brighter place. In 2017 Avi found it necesssary to leave Pentatonix, for a variety of personal reasons. He has since gone on to have a very successful solo career, and I strongly recommend subscribing to his TH-cam channel, which you can find here: youtube.com/@AviKaplanMusic Avi's replacement joined in either late 2017 or early 2018 (depending on how you figure it); you'll see him in a lot of their videos: • The second black member of Pentatonix is Matt Sallee (pronounced Suh-lee', emphasis on the second syllable), lyric bass. In addition to being the newest member of Pentatonix Matt is also the youngest member, and I'm told that bass voices improve with age. Matt's range seems to be growing on a daily basis right now. His current lowest note seems to be Bb1, which just barely counts as basso profundo, though not the blowing out speakers variety. But on his high end Matt reaches nearly the top of a normal tenor range. To find his current range I recommend listening to a recent live stream of "Hallelujah." You can find one here: th-cam.com/video/FqphhPapkoc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tC6Ew07JGeQKQvDL Matt's arrangement of the second verse seems to be designed to show off his full range, and it will blow you away.
New here from Ireland. Please react to pentatonix new rules. Sing. Love again. Daft punk.gold. Havana. The prayer. The sound of silence cheered leader. Radioactive. Pompeii. Perfume medley. The feeling can't hold us they rap in it. Oh, come all ye faithful
They are the best! No comparison to any other group. They won the sing off the year before Home Free. The have 3 Grammys and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They are internationally known.
Ok some back story. One pentatonix is the og acapella group. Home Free can thank their careers to ptx because they came first and when ptx on the sing off and won the record contract the label dropped them because at the time there was no audience for acapella abd they felt this genre couldnt be marketed. So ptx went out and did it their way. They did essentially DIY videos on TH-cam which went viral. Their following grew and without a label micromanagement and changing them as they did with sing off (such as muzzling mitch incredible once in a generation counter tenor voice because he was too gay for them and their "family viewers. ",), they were able to develop their own style how they wanted it. Eventually they were signed. Home Free, Voctave, Voiceplay all followed by enjoying the audience and acapella appreciation that ptx created. Ptx by far the most decorated and popular acapella group with being part of yputube rare 6 billion views club, 3 grammys with a new nomination this year so possibly a 4th. One of those grammys was for best country duo or group, and ptx won for their collaboration with dolly parton in "jolene". Their also the most diverse, both in who they are from all different colors, religions, sexual preferences but can come together and sound amazing. They can cover any musical genre. Rock, pop, classical, country, jazz, traditional, christmas, r & b, rap, soul, gospel, edm....you name it and they'll have a song for you. They also just got a star on Hollywood walk of fame, and recently participated in the reality show, the Masked Singer. To me, theres all other acapella groups (all amazingly talented artists) and then there's pentatonix who lives in league of their own. I recommend more of their early works and work your way to more recent so you can see their growth over the years. So ill recommend "Daft Punk" (grammy filmed in the bass vocalists closet for like a few hundred $), "dance of the sugar plum fairy" (grammy), and "can't hold us" oh and "imagine, ". Oh and fyi, mitch and kirsty are still with the group, there's only been one member change, the bass. But mitch and kirsty tends to change their looks drastically each video, leading many to think they're different people. You can't mistake mitch's voice tho. It's too unique. Enjoy your pentatonix journey!
For more groups like this, check out Home Free, Voctave, and Jared Halley. Jared does ALL the parts himself. It is also approaching the holidays, so I strongly recommend that you check out the Christmas songs by Pentatonix and Home Free.
This isn't 'normal' that's why they're so well loved. Watch some vocal coaches cover them on your own, to help you understand exactly how insane and perfect the layering and pitch matching they do is. I suggest Lindsey Sterling featuring Amy Lee, "Love Goes on and on"!
A cover of this song was in Shrek, maybe that’s where you’ve heard it before. Their second most watched video is The Sound of Silence. I’ve subbed for more PTX reactions.
Love you have heard it before. But the guys name has left me. But this is the best version you’ll ever hear in your life time. Just enjoy your PTX journey, we’ll come too the Pentaholics ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
For acapella, it's PTX, Home Free, Voice Play and the Bass Gang. Many of the singers also have "non-group" music where they do solo work or work with one or two others from different groups... Lots of "mixing" in acapella....
Bro If you are new to them you have to check out Daft Punk its a medley of daft punk music. and "90s dance medley" They won a grammy for Daft Punk Medley it. Also if you come from a soul background check out the mashup of Aaliyah's "are you that somebody" and Duo Lipo's New Rules. Rock is your thing check out "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Sound of Silence" . "The Prayer" and "Mary Did you know" are the best religious covers to me, great vocal showcase. Other gems La LaLatch and Imagine. Live gems Star Wars Tribute and Star Spnagled Banner
Pentatonix put this song on their Christmas album but it’s not a Christmas song. Leonard Cohen, the songwriter, was Jewish. It’s about a disastrous love affair. You probably heard the song Hallelujah when you watched Shrek.
Most people know this song from Sherk the 1st one just like in the scene in the movie the song is about love gone wrong and how we call to God when this pain happens
There are many acapella groups, depends on the niche you're looking for but for the US, I'd argue that PTX, Home Free and VoicePlay might be the top 3. Voiceplay are the theater kids of the 3 as they dress up in character for their songs. A fun intro for VP might be My Mother Told Me and Valhalla calling. I'g suggest you jump a few years to hear their cover of Amazing Grace (My chains are broken) just to hear how their voices have evolved
Loved your reaction!! Subbed for more PTX… you probably heard this from Shrek! You should react to Imagine, Daft Punk, Where Are U Now, any of the evolution videos (Michael Jackson, Rhianna, Ariana Grande), Can’t Hold Us (Ryan Lewis/Macklemore cover)
Love don’t even to try too put them I’m home free . Come one dude. PTX IS THE Acapella group of the century. Come on.😊😅😮. And yes love you will actually listen too this kinda music. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ya you’re missing out if you’re not checking out every genre out there. Really. I’m talking acapella, country, rock, even some new contemporary Christian songs are great. So much great music out there in the world
OMG
Don't tell me you are just now getting to Pentatonix 🙄
Pzo.....listen to every Pentatonix song you can get your hands on 💥💥💥💥💥

There is something so special about their ability, to tell the songs story, allowing us to listen with a new perspective, and hear & feel emotions, we may not have heard from the original artist 💖💖💖 Not only their voices, but their delivery is also their gift! *IMO, no other group, can build up a song, like Pentatonix* They are masters at pulling on our emotions!!! 💗💗💗💗💗💗 *They are individually so talented, however, when put together, it is truly magical* 💗💗
You would enjoy their "Evolution of Michael Jackson, Evolution of Rihanna, Daft Punk, 90's Dance Medley" - so many great ones.
You MUST do Pentatonix.....Bohemian Rhapsody ‼️‼️‼️
Pentatonix broke the Recording barrier for Acapella Bands...
The members:
1st singer: Scott Hoying, baritone.
She and the next member are like chameleons, both are fashion marvens and constantly change their looks, hair colours and lengths
4th singer: Mitch Grassi, counter tenor.
Some recommendations:
Bohemian Rhapsody, 90's Dance medley, Daft Punk medley, Evolution of Michael Jackson, Mad World, Love Again (original,) Run To You ( original), Imagine, When The Party's Over, Attention. Say Something.
You did an amazing job explaining how brilliant Pentatonix is and how each member is talented, we just need to add in Matt, the new bass, to this!
Their version of “little drummer boy” is phenomenal…..I listen to it on repeat at the end of the year…..the words will really get you!
I first heard this song watching Shrek. I fell in love with it and then found many different versions. This is the best I have ever heard by a magnitude of 100. They are all exceptionally talented and it does make you literally feel the music in your heart body and soul
Check out Mary did you know and Amazing Grace from them.
Pentatonix
They won The Sing Off in 2011. They made a guest starring appearance on America′s Got Talent as non−competitors a couple of years after that.
The founding members are:-
Scott Hoying (tall blond guy, natural baritone but has an impressive five−to−six octave range, can go all the way up to high tenor and down to bass, sings the bass lines when the usual bass singer takes the lead);
Mitch Grassi (a true contra−tenor, can hit high notes in his chest voice with ease and go WAY higher in his falsetto, also with ease);
Avriel "Avi" Kaplan (dark beard and long hair), true basso profundo, trained as an opera singer, also can go up into the tenor range; and
Kevin "KO" Olusola (beatboxer extraordinaire, also is a world−class cellist who plays cello on some of their songs, has a beautiful high tenor voice and gets occasional lead vocal solos as well, graduated pre−med from Yale and speaks several languages including Mandarin Chinese).
A good watch is "The Recording of Evergreen" where a camera was invited into the studio for the second week of recording/
Also, all members are songwriters for both Pentatonix and their own solo work.
My favorite song about sex in the kitchen!
@@voidmstr There are others?
@@margretrosenberg420Dude...half the song is the story of King David and Bathsheba. It is a religious song.
But yeah, pretend like you know more about the song than the guy who actually wrote it 🙄
I just subbed in hopes of more Pentatonix reactions! And next is Voice Play! 💖
I'm a Grandma. I absolutely loved your reaction. I had to subscribe.
This is one of those songs that _require_ decent headphones to fully appreciate. Avi's bass notes at the beginning shake me. Like, from the inside.
Have you reacted to “Mary did you know” by: Pentatonix? It’s one of their best, it will give you chills. Much love.♥️
They do many Christmas songs. The little drummer boy was the first song i ever heard them sing. Now Im hooked
If you like this, you should hear their version of Bohemian Rhapsody!
You need to listen to their version of Bohemian Rhapsody
Liked your reaction. Recommend their cover of Mad World.
Just subscribed for more Pentatonix
Leonard Cohen sings the version I’m familiar with. That may be the one you heard.
According to Google: Hallelujah" is a song written by Canadian singer Leonard Cohen, originally released on his album Various Positions (1984). Achieving little initial success, the song found greater popular acclaim through a new version recorded by John Cale in 1991.
This group has been together more than 12 years. They met in college. The beatboxer is Kevin and he's a graduate from Yale University; plays the cello, piano, drums and trumpet.
Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado and Mitch Grassi were high school friends.
Mad respect for understanding there is so much out in the world in music we just don't know. Me, too.
Real music! Much love!
They are the best!
How did you miss that incredible bass line? He's amazing and can't be replicated! Warm melted chocolate.😅
PTX is just Epic!
They our real good
Song was written by Lenard cohen in the early 80’s. The song became famous after Jeff Buckley did a cover. I’m guessing that is the version you heard. other have made covers but this one is none like any of them.
When I need a boost to soul, Tom Macdonald fires me up. HOG 4 LIFE!! When I need to soothe my soul, Pentatonix calms me! PENTAHOLIC
I recommend making a reaction to one of the best vocalists in the world.
Meet Diana Ankudinova!
Diana has the title - Queen of Goosebumps.
Challenge yourself, can you resist the charm of her voice?
One of the last comments about Diana's voice:
Pffff.... her voice is really very special, unclassifiable, atypical, out of the ordinary... 💖
1) super unique voice (dramatic contralto with polyphonic overtones);
2) the most complex vocal techniques, a bewitching voice;
3) Diana sings in 6 languages : English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Arabic and any musical genre;
4) incredible charisma, artistry and living of any song;
5) a range of 4 octaves, which at the age of 20 is far from the limit and will continue to grow;
6) a large army of fans around the world;
7) an independent artist, without producers and labels, only with the support of fans and reactors like you;
8) more than 17 thousand reactions (all collected in my playlists). Some reactions have 3.7 million views.

3 top acapella groups
Pentatonix
Home Free
Voiceplay
youtube refreshed my memory of so much music. i'm 63 so the 1970s was my prime music time. folks played instruments; they really sang and performed. also, radio stations played a much bigger variety of music than they do now. i seeing young folks discover all our old favorites. if you haven't discovered motown music you are totally missing out. ask your grandma. :-] i found pentatonix during the pandemic; they really got me through. they make you feel emotional and that's a good stress relief. enjoyed spending a little time with you.
The big three are Pentatonix, Home Free, and VoicePlay. A couple others are Voctave and The Bass Gang.
They do bohemian rhapsody so good
Pentatonix won the tv show “The Sing Off” Home Free won the show the next season. Avi, the bass for Pentatonix sings with Home Free on the song “Ring of Fire”.
Check it out👍👍
Truly on the top of the acapella groups. (BTW, Leonard Cohen author of this song)
Avi Kaplan, the second guy, has been solo for some years.
In this video we have:
• First verse: Tall blond guy, Scott Hoying, lyric baritone.
And we call that stunned look people get the first time they realize that the beautiful high voice is coming from a man, "being Mitch slapped."
• The fifth member of Pentatonix (PTX for short) is Kevin Olusola (pronounced Oh-loosh"-oh-luh', primary emphasis on the second syllable, secondary emphasis on the fourth) beatboxer extraordinaire.
He has since gone on to have a very successful solo career, and I strongly recommend subscribing to his TH-cam channel, which you can find here: youtube.com/@AviKaplanMusic
Avi's replacement joined in either late 2017 or early 2018 (depending on how you figure it); you'll see him in a lot of their videos:
• The second black member of Pentatonix is Matt Sallee (pronounced Suh-lee', emphasis on the second syllable), lyric bass.
❤❤❤
Hey! I’ve been watching your Larry legend vids and now you’ve met GOATS of a capella! 😊
Thank You! Trying to deep dive into new People
New here from Ireland. Please react to pentatonix new rules. Sing. Love again. Daft punk.gold. Havana. The prayer. The sound of silence cheered leader. Radioactive. Pompeii. Perfume medley. The feeling can't hold us they rap in it. Oh, come all ye faithful
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sweet reaction! You're adorable! Keep reacting to PTX, please.
They are the best! No comparison to any other group. They won the sing off the year before Home Free. The have 3 Grammys and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They are internationally known.
Daft punk and Havana are great also. Thank you
Please keep reacting to them. You will love everything they sing. They are so awesome.
You should definitely use headphones. It's next level excellent.
How good are they?? They're the best a capella group in the world. No contest.
Next you have Voiceplay! Expect to have your mind blown many times over doing these a capella songs!!!!!
Lots of people have done this song, but they do it BEST!
Real music 🔥🔥
A cover of this song was in Shrek, maybe that’s where you’ve heard it before. Their second most watched video is The Sound of Silence. I’ve subbed for more PTX reactions.
Try The Prayer Amazing Grace and they are insane even live!!
Review their daft punk medley too, please
Loved your reaction!! Subbed for more PTX… you probably heard this from Shrek! You should react to Imagine, Daft Punk, Where Are U Now, any of the evolution videos (Michael Jackson, Rhianna, Ariana Grande), Can’t Hold Us (Ryan Lewis/Macklemore cover)
Great reaction . New sub hoping you do more Pentatonix ! Thx
It's called a capella. The original version was written by Leonard Cohen. It was made famous by Jeff Buckley. You probably heard it on SHREK.
Vc é muito inteligente e sincero , vai gostar de reagir ao cantor Gabriel Henrique com cover Aleluia espetacular obrigado
Pink def medley PTX they got a Grammy for this. It totally shows how they can change things Amazing ❤
KEVIN IS THE 16TH BEST BEAT BOXER IN THE WORLD 🌎

You may recognize the song from Shrek. Obviously, not this version.
Great reaction! Subbing for more PTX!!
You're doing a great job discovering these groups. Voice Plays cover of Dream On by Aerosmith is amazing!

Kid langs version is phenomenal too
Check their cover of Somebody That I Used to Know
K.D. Lang owns this song.
