How to take advantage of opposition agent if your opponent isn't playing search effects. Maralen mornsong: all opponents locked out of cards and you have demonic tutor every turn for each deck. Scheming symmetry: demonic tutor form an opponents deck and one for your top deck. Field of ruin: you search for 1 land from each opponents decks and then 1 from yours. Also works with ghost quarter.
This card is perfectly fine. It will naturally police pricier/more powerful decks hence better leveling the playing field. The best part is that it attacks the sacrosanct’ Strategy of green land ramp without resorting to land destruction. The Green ramp player has no one to blame but themselves when they trot out a Cultivate (or Boundless Realms!?!) When they see that the MBC Player across the table has three mana open. Sufficient spot removal for a very squishy creature and playing around this card similar to Blue and counterspells will be what’s in order. It’s called better deck design and better gameplay. Good card, insta-staple.
@Todd Packer We have a regular in our meta that plays 300,000,000 fetch lands in every deck and slows the game to a crawl as he plays three lands a turn and shuffles every time. I can't wait to play this over and over until he reduces the fetches in his decks to a reasonable number.
@@Acrore what?? Hahahahahah you'll say that until this is used against you and the other player takes all of your fetch activations, cultivate searches, tutor targets, etc. Have fun being civil.
@@moreparmesan5261 They will only take one. Then you will know not to play it until you kill the creature. Unless you are just being silly and giving them stuff. Then it is no different than aven mindcensor or stranglehold. I have a healthy amount of removal in all my decks to stop combos, cards like this and on hit kill commander decks like feather. I think this card will excitedly spice up our meta.
With how long commander has been a format their will be more and more "must play" cards and that limite's what cards u want to play cause this is just like rysthic study, swords,path,counter spell, and dockside cause its just good
I mostly see this card being played in a cedh meta being able to steal your opponents search in my opinion is very very!!!! powerful seems just as great as a counterspell but as a better interaction to steal and give you more advantage but.... in a non cedh level seems like this card will create hate and well itll get banned witch i really hope doesn't happen but if it does it does but tbh i really don't see this card being banned at all its not land destruction for the fair point
I believe it wont break the format. But again, Wizards shows not to be worried in a forces equilibrium: the way to breaks another's player game is much more efficient than builds a combat focused game.

I'd appreciate you hopping off your high horse and understand the fact that I'm lamenting the fact that I will have to face this card and be a primary target for it simply because my deck is ' the best pile of cards at the table' to quote those i regularly play with.
@@afauver1877 Seems like such a card is needed if i am reading this. Tutor is not a fun mechanic, period. It removes what makes card-games tick. So more tutor-killers outside of simple counterspells where needed. Thank god they did it. Again: tutor everything at will is not really strategy.
I think its needed, decks ramp so fast nowadays that there needs to be counters. Even if you don't play it, it will make people think before they start all their crazy ramp combos
broken with ghost quarter, assassin's trophy, from the ashes etc. will take much longer to tutor, punishes many fair strats./cards, too easily splashed. should have been white. will create many miserable game states. I hate tutors but this is not the way to solve the issue. this is poor design and has gavin written all over it
Who decided this wasnt good enough and decided to allow it to even play lands. And why does it have a decent body as well? Maybe make it like BBB to cast instead of B(2) would make it more balanced? Seriously, for 3 mana this simply does too much
I think this card is great but I agree at BBB. I think more cards should be color heavy in there cost to make it more worth it to play few colors instead of several.

@Todd Packer problem is that ghost quarter is a may ability and gives them a choice. Field on the other hand does not.

I'm already running Maralen, of the mornsong + stranglehold combo so it makes more sense than running it just cus.
Dies to removal
This card is .not that good maybe in cedh but it will just draw a removal spell and the problem is solved.
What if 2 are in play, and a 3rd player searches. Who controls them?
The person who played it most recently would! (we had the same question and looked it up)
The person who plays this against me in a casual game will receive direct hate and be the only target for the rest of that game.

people play Torpor orb and winter orb and stuff in casual, I don't see a problem with this

this with Temur sabertooth is good, you can bounce it back to hand and do it all over again to the next guy
Why would you do that? You realise it's effect stays as long as it is in play. It's not an ETB.
