    It might be a good idea to turn off true tone when editing photos you take with the iPhone camera, as the images may appear to be a bit more red than they actually are.

      Same for graphic art and really any project you are doing that is color sensitive. If you need to dial in a specific tone and really make it stand out for the exact hex you want to dial in it’s good to be able to switch it on or off on the fly. I hope they keep it as an option in control center rather than just burying it in the settings screen. I rarely turn it off but sometimes it is useful to dial off for a bit. Otherwise Warm > Cool imo.

    True tone actually makes your display match your surroundings - warm on indoor lighting, but take it outside during an overcast day/ grey sky mornings and your display would be as cool as a frosty nipple 🥶 you get what I mean 😄

    Switched from iPhone SE (1st gen) to iPhone 8 a little while ago and the difference in displays is massive. For me True Tone makes my phone more comfortable to use in different lighting conditions and definitely not a placebo effect, I've made plenty of comparisons myself. I'm surprised Android took until last year to implement this feature into all phones when Apple has been using in every single one of their phones since 2017.

    I think most people just don’t know how to use True Tone... myself included, until I watched a different video (no offense to this uploader). The warmer looking screen is better for reading text like if your reading an ebook on your smart device. While turning off True Tone is better for taking photos and watching videos because you get a truer color of what image really is. Hopefully this helped without being condescending. So keeping it off is the best one can do to reduce unnecessary wastage of battery & loss of picture quality at daytime especially when you're indoors as majority of people use their apple devices indoors for watching content or editing pics & videos on their apple devices.
    Actually, True Tone on all Apple devices is exactly similar to Samsung's eyecomfort shield which Samsung uses on it's devices & also on other android devices it is available as "Reading mode" or "night mode" with just the difference or advantage over others of having the capability of using sensors 24*7 to detect surroundings around you at a given point of time & set your device's screen temps accordingly as warm or cool. It's no rocket science which Apple has pulled off & thus just renamed it to "True Tone" to sound more professional or cooler in the tech industry & had this feature as one of their exclusives just because they were able to improve it a bit using sensors they already had on their devices for Face ID.

    • @nobody-wr8xs
      @nobody-wr8xs 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Well iphones have separate night mode too. Which you can enable. So it def not exactly the same

    • @abhinaving
      @abhinaving 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nobody-wr8xs I know it’s called Night Shift and can be found in brightness tab inside control center adjacent to true tone button, but it works in the same way as true tone lol, all it does is turns the display yellowish or with yellow tint at an aggressively higher value than true tone till the time it’s turned on and stays on that same level instead of true tone.
      So nothing special about it & not at all much different either. :)

    Once I started using True Tone whenever it launched I never looked back. Just watching this video I turned off True Tone and immediately noticed a stark difference. When I first started using it I could barely tell the difference and during use its not something I think about at all. It works very subtly from moment to moment so you don’t notice big swings in transitions bc it does it so naturally and it’s timed so well. I didn’t understand the purpose of it at first but I hope it sticks around for all displays going forward and hopefully optionally as sometimes for things like color grading and detail color based work it is good to be able to disable so you can get your project just right for whatever screen its being viewed on.

    The idea of True Tone is not making your screen warmer, no. It is to match the colour temperature of white to your surroundings.
    The idea is that white on your screen should look like the white sheet of paper when you are holding it, illuminated by the same source of light
    Now, the crucial point here is what you want to get - the reference image aka "looks like intended by author" or realistic image "aka as it would have looked like when printed".
    True Tone should be off when doing crucial colour grading work. It should be on for general use case.
