Suspension is very tricky and def need to do a ton of research before spending a ton of money on all different types of shocks. So thanks for this video, always been a fan of fox shocks but the world of shocks has always been super confusing and tricky for a lot of people. Glad there’s videos like this to help people like me figure out what we need for our specific rigs and specific on road and different types of off roading.

I’m an avid Mtn biker and own a few bikes with Fox. I’ll be retired soon and plan on traveling across North America mostly off road with my bikes and gear. I have a 2020 Tacoma 4x4 TRD off road that is stock. I’m looking retirement this year and traveling North America with my truck and toys. I really appreciate your content sharing. I’m planning a modification with an experienced builder like yours. My travel is going to be off road as much as possible and just traveling to nice trails to explore and probably a few events along the way.

I have been running the Fox 2.5 elite front and rear on my gen 3 taco and i have to say i love having the DSC adjusters to get that fine tuning after the main valving which in my opinion is necessary because everyones weight varies so it is nice to have those adjustments to compensate for those changes and keep a very smooth ride

I have Fox suspension on my MTB (my profile pic 😁) as well as my 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro. There is a very good reason why I prefer Fox over all the other brands, and it has every bit to do with how much money they spend in R&D, and in race scenarios. Regardless of the vehicle, if it has suspension, Fox is there, on the scene, and ready to learn and improve on the daily. There are videos on YT following the mechanics and athletes around, and to see the amount of expertise and dedication the techs have, I really don't know why anyone would want to go anywhere else.

The crazy thing is dobinsons MRR gives more travel than fox in the rear per the same minimum compressed length. I got fox but for rock crawling the travel of dobinsons might be better. Other drawbacks to dobinsons but still a great option it seems

  • @nitroburn72

Love the content. Always love references to FJ Cruisers, since that's my current rig and I'm considering upgrading suspension, bumpers, undercarriage protection, etc.. When I bought it, I didn't know that to get it better off-road capable it would cost an additional $10k-$12k for good equipment. Little disappointed with that. BMC, regear, UCA (possibly lower, too), better negative offset wheels, larger-than-32" high quality tires, faster throttle response unit, 3" high quality lift, quality sliders, under armor (possibly around steering components, too), bumpers, winch, ropes, etc...it's expensive! I'm having second thoughts the more I've researched true costs of properly doing it all. Originally thought it just needed a $2k-$4k lift, bigger tires, a couple bumpers for, like, maybe $2k and a $500 winch...thought I'd be golden after , maybe $6k additional investment...yeah no. 😂

All bilstein's are digressive valved, so if you want a soft ride you need to look at linear or progressive valving.
