Great to see an archlute with actual double strung courses - I feel like WAY too many archlutes people try to turn into 14 stringed classical guitars and just use single courses.

Thanks a lot dear Taylor! I don’t have pegs to put octave basses dear! It’s an historical Archlute so should be like that although now I have a kind of “hybrid” Archlute with the possibility all in double strings (And then possible use it as a baroque lute!!). Thanks a lot for your nice comment!!
And of course it was just trying to offer something new in another instrument different and not doing on the baroque lute! But would be nicer with octaves in the basses :)

Is it more challenging to play on a double strung archlute than on single strings?
Thank you so much!!!! Yes, quite more challenging with double stringed instrument because the strings are very close and is difficult be clean (More touching noises)...And this maker do specially delicate "touching" instruments so even more difficult although I think to do it with this Murphy's Lutes provides an amazing sound and perhaps it worth the effort :)

Miguel, watched a few of your videos now. Your chops are amazing. If I could offer a suggestion, I think sometimes you need to provide some room for breath between important phrases and cadence points. You quite often rush through from one idea to the next without the little commas or pauses. This doesnt necessarily mean adding 'more rubato'. You can acknowledge the topography of phrases and agogic voicing rhythmically. Add that nuance and your playing will be perfect.
You know, I just don't believe that this particular instrument itself, is good enough for him. I'm saying, take the best archlute in the world, I wish he had it to play upon.

Más videos en uno o dos meses pero serán diferentes piezas (Gigue 1004 transcrita de las sonatas/partitas para violín y una pieza en laúd renacentista de Melchior Newsidler) :) Y en unos meses el disco de Bach con todos los movimientos de esta suite (Que en realidad hice de la 1011 de cello aunque es la misma música de la 995 para Laud

Me intriga que el 7mo orden sobre el mástil (fa)es simple y no octaveado, no te hace mucha diferencia de color con el octavo (mi) que es largo (diapasón)?

Es un archilaúd Hecho sin espacio para colocar la octava del fa , desafortunadamente! Tengo archis que si lo admiten e incluso tiene el octavo orden con su octava (mi), pero sacrifiqué eso por el color y tono fantástico de este instrumento! Hay un pasaje cerca del final que ice que octava por ello. Abrazos querido!!
Es un archi romano para continuo con un tiro largo de los bajos y que no era para tocar a solo en principio! Además, típico de los instrumentos de Murphy, es muy jodida de tocar limpio, pero el tono es del una calidad brutal. Abrazos!!

The extended bass strings are not fretted, they are always played open.
