I am relieved...and pleasantly surprised...to hear Bach's music played without an imaginary metronome (usually set too high) and with accents on the rhythmically important notes!!! SO many contemporary Bach performances...especially on solo instruments...seem to be patterned on a pre-programmed computer model. No humanity. This is lovely!!! Like she's singing it. Like it SHOULD be!!! I don't know. Maybe it's a lute thing. Whatever. Beautiful. Thoughtful. Inspiring. And WAY too rare!!!
I feel like this is more a problem of (a) classical musicians playing all kinds of genres and also picking up a Bach piece here and there vs (b) musicians focusing their career on historically informed performances also focusing on Bach. Compare for example Cello Suite 1 played by (a) Maisky th-cam.com/video/mGQLXRTl3Z0/w-d-xo.html vs (b) Swarts th-cam.com/video/cGnZHIY_hoQ/w-d-xo.html (a) is from 1993 so arguably not contemporary and (b) has exactly what you describe, the breathing, the singing.
Rubato can be nice, but it can also be overdone very very easily. Bach intended for us to simply read what he wrote on the page. He was criticized by many of his peers for going as far as writing out ornaments and trills instead of symbols (not leaving the interpretive execution of these elements to the performance). Other composers from his era, especially Weiss, can be performed with liberal use of rubato to no degenerative effect. I have no criticism for performers who choose to use a rubato interpretation, but I also have none for those who simply play what is written.
Listening on the other side of this amazing planet in the land of Oz…. This is so deeply moving… few words… just heaven…. Awaiting a CD feverishly… please🙏💐💐💐😘😘😘😘😘
Exactly i have the feeling that alot of musicians just wanna be faster like a other one. John Dowland's Fantasia 7 is a perfect example for it. Theres some recordings on youtube and to me only 2 play it in the right feeling, rubato with no rushing so every note gets the space that it needs to shine.

I am so excited to live in a time with so much BAROQUE period performance practice. While all instruments can benefit and embody JSB, wowoweewow the lute really gets me going.

It is a real issue I've encountered as well! I enjoyed playing all the Lute Suites on Harpsichord (a tempo) even more so than Guitar, even though I grew up on the John Williams BBC recording. The older and more into HIPP I got, the less I wanted to hear the works on Guitar, particularly due to the colors, timbres, attack, and rhetorical appeal.
Your sensitive, conversational phrasing, tone, and presence is just the way I love to hear this suite! I have heard so, so many renditions but I believe yours is one of the Best! Bravo!!!
“Conversational” is such a great description of Klaudyna’s interpretation. And I agree; I’ve never enjoyed this piece more. Absolutely beautiful playing.
I think that God was quite dishonest when it came to you. You have the gift to play beautiful music in a beautiful way. Besides that you are beautiful yourself: quite a lot on one plate. You are privileged.
This is great playing and a very nice quality recording. That lute has great tonality. I've recently discovered the lute on TH-cam and think is cool! I wish more people played it.
@@tomswiftyphilo2504 If you're tuning them from scratch it takes a long time but once in tune they're not too bad. They go out of tune faster than guitars but if you play every day you don't have to spend too much time on tuning (as long as you don't want to play pieces in very different keys on the same lute). Another limiting factor is the expense. They're aren't, to my knowledge, any inexpensive (playable) 13 course lutes for beginners. One big advantage of the baroque lute, though, is that music originally written for lute (e.g. Weiss) is generally easier to play on the lute than on the guitar.
This is my favorite recording of this work. The musician, the instrument, the recording quality. Beautiful. Honestly I find the lute does this piece better justice than cello. So much of it is so idiomatic of the lute, especially that incredible Gavotte. Even the keyboard Partitas are absolutely saturated with 'style luthe' figurations (especially the Cm, which seems like a spiritual sibling to this piece). The suite genre in general seems to secretly be a lute genre.
Well, this is a surprise. I long-time of fan of classical music, I didn't think I cared for either J.S. Bach or Baroque music. Then I stumbled across this video. I'm a convert. Thank you, Ker, for introducing me to a whole new world. Kind regards.
You say: "didn't think I cared for either JS Bach or Baroque music"!-and that after a lifetime of listening to classical music-I mean no disrespect but I find that astonishing, I too have been listening to this stuff for most of my life and right from the start, it was always acknowledged that he was the "Daddy", he was a massively prolific composer who expanded the repertoire of every musician on every instrument with exquisitely crafted works which, even today are regarded as the Gold Standard in compositional excellence. Give yourself a real treat, find his Concerto for Double Violins and lose yourself in it-I have to listen to it only when alone as it makes me weep with joy and something utterly undefinable which swells up inside and overwhelms the senses. You will not regret it-I promise!
If you are just a listener (fan) you usually go for just classical, like Beethoven and Mozart, but if you are a musician, born or trained, then you are "obliged" to listen to and know Renaissance, Baroque and modern music too... Well, it's fortunate that you discovered this in 2021, through TH-cam, better late than never, right?

This comfortable sound is something Incredible, and Incredible feelings
Just tuning this beast makes you a mensch. Playing Bach on it makes you a rock star.
Wonderful performance, and a tip of the hat to the engineer who recorded this. Nicely done all around!
Could listen to it again and again ... breathtaking and beautiful ... Dziękuję bardzo, Klaudyna ...
Para tocar a Bach de este modo, hay que tenerlo interiorizado y ser poseedora de una gran tecnica. Todo a nivel muy alto
what wonderful sound perfect tuned ! Incredible above all in low range; so deep sounds!
Best performance by "allowing" resonances and strings to swing before damping too hasty.
Human, not a computer quality, great.
Thank you very much.
Nagyon szép volt,köszönet érte! Ön gyönyörűen játszik!
Thank you, both, you and JS Bach.
A version full of elegance and limpid serenity.
