The talent, the music, the orchestra, the costume designs, the writers, the actors, the technology, the quality, the colors - Television will never be like this again. Thankfully these shows are preserved on video.
John Browneyes The sound effects!
Actually studio C come close. But I agree.i would rather watch variety shows instead of the reality shows
Me too,! Donnie and Marie was another really cute show I enjoyed watching. I tried to explain to my sons ages 15 & 13 how TV was when I was growing up.. I couldn't do it justice. Can't wait to see their reaction to my discovery all these old CB shows!
Not enough adjectives to describe this timeless classic.!!!!!
Yeah until they're declared politically incorrect and canceled
OMG, I was in high school and studying for my midterms when this originally aired. My cool Dad said, “Take a little break and watch this with me.” He made me a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows and we laughed our asses off! I have never seen my father laugh so hard in my entire life. Ah, the good old days, I miss you Dad.
Jane Doe What a wonderful memory! Thank you for sharing that.
This is such a sweet memory. Thank you for sharing.❤
Only mine was my mom. I miss you mom.
Awww, what a beautiful memory. Holding space for you an your dad.

Thanx for sharing ♡♡
When I say there's NEVER been another cast of actors that could ever have the chemistry that this cast had.
Well, maybe Clue the movie...
Pointer Sisters and Vicki Lawrence KILLED THIS!!!!! This piece won an Emmy, and rightfully so. #TALENT
and Vicki's body!!!!!
I loved Vicki's song at the end.
A8M Wow did it ? I didn’t know that and is it really THE Pointer Sisters ?? 😍🎇😍
KL LWC Yes, I knew who they were quickly. I’m probably much older than you.😎
nitabean82 Age is nothing but a number 🌟🌍🌟
Bob Mackie is an absolute genius when it comes to costumes. Harvey's fairygodmother,Tim's Elfin John not to mention Carol's outfit which channels Cher . The outfits that come out of his imagination are fabulous.
Those ain't cheap either! Top quality supplies and detailed HAND work!
Love Mackie!!!
I love it!
I love it when anyone calls attention to the costume designer. What a genius!
He also designed Cher's outfits on Sonny and Cher show
Mackie must work with a team. One man could do all of it.
The Pointer Sisters are great. They should have been given their own variety show.
I thought that was them!!
My best friend and I saw the Pointer sisters at the Barn in Lucerne in St.Louis.MO.It was GREAT to see them in person. We had a Fantastic time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm 13 and I'm so glad my parents introduced me to older shows like this. It's clean, it's witty, and It's completely hilarious! and I just adore Tim Conway's acting!
Good for you. My adoptive mother who raised me was 45 years old when I was born. Consequently, I was exposed to a multi-generational gamut of talent from the early 1900s basically and on through the rest of the century. My absolutely favorite decades for literature, music, TV and film are the 60s, 70s, and some of the 80s. Most of the stuff made since the turn of the recent century leaves me cold, although there are rare exceptions. I just don't like the gratuitous profanity and overall video game CGI. I see a decline of the imagination and originality that concerns me for the future of our culture, not to mention a loss of entertainment.
Good on your folks!! I was so fortunate to grow up with this show, Wonderful memories watching with Mom & Dad. Enjoy!
I’m 22 and feel the same way! I especially love Tim Conway’s oldest man skits!!
Good for you! When I was young these shows were slightly pass my time but they were in rerun and I had the pleasure of watching these shows too.
Stick with it kid. There is some really classic stuff in this show!
Can i just say that i thought Tim Conway was actually Elton John for a good minute 😂 he was freaking great in this!
Hahah I did TTOOOOOOOOOO i was thinking hey EJ was never on Carol,, then Tim did his noted "schoolboy stare" and I knew right away it was Tim Conway,, lol hagd
And the way he flipped his legs...
J.London me too...lol
@@williamakull48 iou
So did i.he did a great job.they all did a wonderful job there
Let's take a moment and remember that this cast through this together inside of a week. So much talent on one stage. It's 2023 and I am still watching Carol Burnett. There's nothing on these days that even interests me. 😍👏👏👏👏⭐⭐⭐🕺
Ditto
Im thankful for all these You Tube uploads. They're way more fun than today's programmes.
Thank goodness for TH-cam, otherwise I'd have never known the joys of Carol Burnett.
Agreed
I know! I started watching it on TH-cam, became absolutely obsessed and now own two seasons 😂
Used to be one of my favorite shows in the 70's.
Have you watched "I love Lucy'? That's another hilarious "oldie" (a lot older than these shows but really good).
+Monica Listodos 😃 I love Lucy is my favourite tv show! I'm obsessed with it :)
Sistertubetime Me too! :-)
Vicki Lawerence is sooo talented that there are no words to explain how talented she is !!!
💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Loved her as mama in the Eunice skits
Navigating those platforms was worth an oscar
I think she is amazing!
From the look on Carol's face, I am not sure if she knew what Harvey was going to look like. This skit brought out the talents of all of the cast. And those behind the scenes.
That's ironic because That's the same reaction she gave when she first saw Harvey as Mother Marcus when she slam the door in his face 😂😂😂😂
@taylorgreen6295 and then when she re opened the door he has his hands on his bosom! Hysterical moment!
@@rogerbrinker7417 yes that is Hilarious 😂
Harvey in drag looks like Bea Arthur. This show has never been topped! Brilliant!
The Origanal Madea 😂😂👏
@@warmlantern0000 yes
@@brownbunny2513 yup 😂😂👍💜
omg!!! sure does LOL
a cross between Bea Arthur and Dame Edna.
This was a great spoof of the Cinderella story. RIP Harvey Korman, Tim Conway and June Pointer. You are still very much appreciated even now in 2019.
I loved the whole thing with Harvey in that blue frock, but the Pointer Sisters, I was flabbergasted, and they sang so smoothly, OMG, so slim and tall! Suddenly, I remembered we used to say : “Give me 5, on the Black hand side!” ( I know, I know, but it was cool then) But can you dig it? I knew you could!
Nothing but pure talent thank god these shows are preserved.
@@jaemebereal8476
I remember it well
This has to be one of the most 70s things I've seen in a long while.
This is hilarious. Sadly, we'll never have comedy like this again.
@Lucifer it's that easy...
@Lucifer please!
Fortunately, comedy shifts with society. You should adapt.
Comedy devolved with society. Keep your high standards!
Agreed ❤️
Now THAT is entertaining TV. Talent galore.
Carol looks like she's trying SO HARD not to break up at Harvey's entrance!
True
masterskrain how do you not laugh at Harvey?! How do you not laugh at Harvey and Tim?! Lol.
Tell your Dalek hi for me! :D
The greatest part of this show was when they couldn't get through their lines without laughing... Tim Conway and Harvey Korman were notorious for this😂
There’s another, earlier skit on TH-cam that had Harvey in drag for a talent show type thing within the skit, and both Carol and Vicki have FULL PERMISSION, within the confines of the skit, to just die at his entrance. Their authentic laughter is everythinggggggggg
This was one of the most ambitious comedy pieces her show ever did....
Harvey Korman: 😂😂😂 "my wings are killing me."
My absolute FAVORITE episode. Harvey Korman was hilarious as the Jewish Fairy Godmother. :D
Mother Marcus always had me rolling on the floor! The Pointer Sisters were a special treat here too! And all that dancing and singing and Viki's role was hilarious!!!
+hotgritz4sho I agree 1000000000% !!!! Lol
Love Mother Marcus.
It looks like Carol was NOT prepared for his arrival...
Philip Tonee look
kk
kkk
This was the ONLY version of Cinderella I was missing in my collection 🤣🤣🤣
If only reality tv would melt away - miss the good ol days !
Including our Apprentice President...
I wish that would happen
Absolutely Broadway-quality, Bob Mackie´s costume designs, the choreography, the adaptation, the acting and singing, everything on point, with class and charm.
This is what kept us home on Saturday nights. Then we looked forward to Monday so we could recall the fun in school. Carol Burnett has stated that these performances wouldn't be done today because it would be too expensive. Imagine just the costumes, wigs, shoes for the entire cast. The feather boas and trimmings. They all needed salaries including the the staff of designer and the seamsters. This they did each week for each TV season. Wow.
Troy C. Jones 81 I thought you were going to say this couldn't be done today because it's borderline offensive, politically incorrect, the PC police would show and not be somewhat wrong.
I don't understand why it couldn't be done now isn't more money poured into media
Carol Burnet was broadcasted on CBS on Friday nights, not Saturday nights.
Over the course of the series it started out on Tuesday nights, then moved around until finally its last few years were on Saturday night.
I was thinking this exact thing. The wig budget alone must have been huge.
I'm 20 years old and I like this show more than SNL
Phenomenal vocal range and comedic skill. Never grows old.
Amazing how comfortable everyone seems to be walkin' around on VERY high heeled platforms! Even Tim Conway -- no hint of wobbly ankles or instability!
At the time this hit the airwaves, Elton John was fresh from his Pinball Wizard role in the movie "Tommy" and was the hottrst guy alive. The colors and fashions shown here were right on the money. I remember it all ... becsuse my family and I went to the taping of this show. I was 13.
Wow!
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!???????
Tim Conway was perfect as Elfin John.
I looked and looked and finally figured it out,, as I thought it WAS Elton at first,, then the campy,, look up like a child stare, and I knew it was Tim llol
Elfin John sings his # 1 hit: 'She's Yellow and Built Like A Brick Road'
My very favorite was the Gone With The Wind sketch! I remember laughing sooo hard!!
I was just telling my daughter about Bob Mackey and that curtain rod, lol!!!
Purple pants Lady Me too!
(guest)
Purple pants lady :
"Went with the wind" , hilarious!
Curtains dress: " I saw them in the window and just had to have them !"
Brilliant !
😊😊😊
I loved that one too. She came down with the curtain on--I lost it!
OMG! That dress made from the curtains and the curtain rod. Ridiculous 🤡 All of the Bob Mackie designs on The Carol Burnett Show were fabulous.
So cool to see this. Those Bob Mackie costumes are amazing...and, coincidentally, I believe Mackie also did costumes for Cher and Tina Turner at this time.
He did, he was a busy man.
Funny you mention that ... I was thinking it but then again I came here from that old reality show Project Runway (I'm in season 2). I'd never watched it before but now I am addicted to "fashion" watching LOL.
I just love Bob Mackie costumes and outfits he did back then cause they were fabulous.
The coat Elfin wears at the end was perfect
He did. And he was a genius.
That Entrance! And a Yiddish Fairy Godmother in drag. Every girl's dream.
How can something so dated look so cool?!
Some things are so good they're just timeless, I guess.
Because people were cool back then and are not now.
It's called "Talent"...it transcends time. I remember actually watching this when it first aired; the only thing that comes close and is relatively recent is the Tracy Ullman Show, but Carol was first, and I think, best. If you want to see more actual sketch comedy, try "Went With The Wind", with the infamous curtain rod dress...
@@johnwclick I also would watch that show every week and my favorite was always the gone with the wind spoof, to this day whenever I see her walking down the stairs with that curtain rod I lose it! Another skit for the younger generation to check out is when she plays Queen Elizabeth with Harvey Korman as Prince Phillips and a young Maggie Smith as Tim Conway's "girlfriend"
Lol I’ve been looking for that one all over but I only see the part where she comes down the stairs wearing the curtains
" I can dig it, I can dig it"....
Well, I dig YOU!
Alixx Richardson I knew that you could!
Jody Fiers 😂
Yeah Man this show was Ought of Sight
oh thank good, thank you too for clearing up what she was saying, I thought she was saying the n word, that would not have been good
Vicki worked wonder and out performed Carol! Just dazzling!
I wouldn't say that...Vicki sure delivered though
It is amazing how much talent went into that skit. From all of the talent behind the scenes to all of the talent on stage. It is just amazing for one skit.
i thought it was Elton, at first.
Mother Marcus is just the best. I love Harvey in drag.
T Cheese he pulled it off greatly
That beginning "I can dig it, I can dig it" with the beautiful sister in pink dancing was absolutely fabulous! Bravo!
Also. I might add, the Bob Mackey designer costumes are gorgeous!
Ooh that's what she was saying... i heard something very very different....
OH, you're right...she kept pulling my eye!
LoL! The first line that made me laugh was "three funky daughters by her first stud". I'm cracking up!!! this whole skit was groovy man! I'm a 70s baby living in an 80s body
I am so glad there is video proof of how awesome things used too be lol. I have been binge watching old TV shows from the 70's and 80's all day. There used to be a reason to own a TV. Not so much any more.
Amen
This really shows the full gamut of Burnett's immeasurable skills.
Did the Pointer sisters ever do theater, they were fantastic on this hilarious sketch.
cofuggle they played the doo wop girls on gimme a break before that they did a scene in Car Wash.
Theater, no. Mostly they just did cocaine.
I'm pretty sure they did a Broadway revival of Ain't Misbehavin': www.masterworksbroadway.com/music/aint-misbehavin-the-pointer-sisters/
James Bradford, it *is* pretty awesome.
It wasn't a broadway revival, they were in a touring production that never reached Broadway. It's essentially a jukebox musical, doesn't require much in the way of acting.
Korman was an entertainer's ENTERTAINER. Incredibly talented.
Oh, the 70's...
...when I was young, skinny and pretty.....
It was a mistake
i wish i couldve lived through it
looked so cool, wish i could’ve been there when it happened
@@vlogwithbrownie I was there. Those were the days. Oh the memories! This started in the Sixties. Right on, sock it to me, give me five, and groovy.
Those costumes are AMAZING! So creative and unique and beautiful.
Designed by Bob Mackie!
“First, you shake your tuches!” My God, Harvey Korman was funny! Everyone was brilliant in this sketch.
I watched this clip again today (03-30-20) and once again it made me laugh, even though at this time we are all going through an extremely scary period in history. Bless you Carol and Vicki. RIP Harvey, Tim, Lyle and June (Pointer). The seventies now seem like a relatively innocent decade.
Their show was theater-quality every week. Great casting, writing, lots of money to do it right. Thank goodness for networks like MeTV, youtube and other classic TV networks who have introduced new generations of people to what we loved when we were growing up. I didn't fully appreciate just how satirical Green Acres was until I got older.
At the time it didn’t seem so innocent, but we didn’t know what was ahead.
The 70s had Nixon, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, oil shortages, oil shortages, inflation, recession, stagflation, the Iranian Hostage crisis (as well as MANY other high profile acts of terrorism, over 100 plane hijackings in that decade), MUCH higher levels of crime & violence, major air pollution, a truly mind boggling number of serial killers, the Cold War & living under the threat of nuclear annihilation, and shocking levels of child abuse (and molestion), domestic violence, and rape…you may wanna reassess that “truly innocent” comment.
God, Harvey could do anything! What a huge talent! I hope he knew how loved and admired he was.
I agree he's one of my favorite comedic actors
genius! and bob mackie...there are no words!
You
8
Hilarious....the glitter, the costumes!! The 70's were awesome in so many ways.
I love how they changed it to 12 noon! haha
I think we just found the inspiration for Shrek's fairy godmother.
You mean Evil Fairy Godmother
+Manuel Orozco ur cute.
Lol if you watch the show AbFab (absolutely fabulous) you’ll see where they got the character from. Edina Monsoon :)
the Dame is a pantomime tradition
Omar So
Vicki Lawrence absolutely slayed in this skit! She's definitely a talent in her own right.
it worth watching this for the Fairy Godmother LOL
Carol Burnett, extremely talented! Her show was among the best!
Love Vicki Lawrence, "Oooh Cinderella the chick is groooovin with Elfin John", Hilarious!! Good clean fun. "I can dig it I can dig it".
Saturday Night Live need to take notes from these professionals
yes, but also from the original snl cast members
I tell my kids “back when SNL was funny”
i keep saying to myself “i’ll just watch one more and then do what i was doing...” and then i keep watching!!!!!!’
I miss Harvey. Never met him, but what a great actor.
I love the Pointer Sisters great voices and music too 🎼🎵🎶🎙🎤🎼🎵🎶🎙🎤🎼🎵🎶🎙
They were so amazing, but they seem forgotten today. What a shame.
Vicki Lawrence - amazing!
Anyone else watching this in 2020 while stuck at home during the Covid-19 Epidemic?
Yes!
Yes ! me too
Absolutely
Elisa Bell . You bet. Very funny..
Still here ....😭💜
They just can't make em' like this anymore. I miss this so much!
Only gloom and doom shows
Are those the Pointer Sisters??? OMG
Aynge Mackay yes
Great singers. This is thd first time I liked the step sisters...
The one in the pink recently died.
Bob Mackie’s costume designs are fantastic as ever. So amazing !
I miss Harvey, it's not everybody who could have a rack like that and still keep their head up high
Harvey Fierstein is the other Harvey who can DO Drag
True LOL
ELI NEFF Thanks. In fact, are you excited for Hairspray LIVE on NBC
I didn't know about it
ELI NEFF He's going to be reprising his role of Edna Turnblad. Also in the cast are Jennifer Hudson as Maybelle, Martin Short as Wilbur, Derek Hough as Corny Collins, Ariana Grande as Penny, Kristin Chenoweth as Velma, her Descendants co-star Dove Cameron as Amber, Garret Clayton as Link, Sean Hayes as Mr. Pinky, Andrea Martin as Prudy, Rosie O Donnel as the Gym Teacher, special appearances by former Tracys Ricki Lake & Marissa Jaret Winokur and introducing Maddie Ballio as Tracy. Hairspray LIVE will air December 7th
Now that is what I call ENTERTAINMENT! This is the first time I've seen this skit. It rocked the house out! I love Carol Burnett but now I have even more love for her and her show after seeing this eye-popping performance. All the characters were played to overdone PERFECTION. I loved Vicki Lawrence's high pitched note, the women of color stole the show and the half dressed male dancer looked like he would one day join a group that would be called The Village People!...Rock Out With Your Songs Out Carol Burnett!
The women of color are the Pointer Sisters.
She should have been a hundred times more famous and she was. Vicki Lawrence s could sing . beautiful voices notes are amazing that she just did in this skit.
Shes always been my love,,,,,,
Harvey Korman’s appearance, upstaged everyone! lol
Fabulous ?!!!
Harvey was awesome
I am watching this again today. Those were the days when television was FUN! There was no POLITICAL CORRECTNESS!
Harvey is such a fabulous fairy Yenta.
HARVEY KORMAN IN JEWISH DRAG!
"....a shrimp is a knish, if you wish it!!"
I am such a Burnett Show Geek! Growing up with her show fills me with such joy. Watching in 2021 with tears....of laughter!
O.M.G. - what great good luck to have stumbled on this skit - rofl
I remember staying up late as a little girl to watch The Carol Burnett Show. Wow what a cast full of true talent! Never gets old, so glad to find it on here!!
Everyone was so slim and trim when they were young. Come to think of it so was I.
Ain't it the truth lol.
@Bob Anderson, back when it was safe to walk and bicycle everywhere. I bought a red backpack at The Bay especially to wear when bicycling around P.A. and out to Little Red River Park.
Its chemicals in our food and water. Bc when I go to Sicily I loose weight fast. And 4 months back into the US I'm big again. Trust me , its the food.
Sure you ain’t also suffering from ‘they only hired skinny people’ bias? Not like fat people didn’t exist until the 21 century.
Carol Burnett was thin, She is one person.
Love the show. They are all grandparents now. See kids we were young once... Lol
"Glad you got your shoe back!" 😂🤣
I always loved this show, and thought I had seen every episode, but I don't remember this one! Thank you for posting it.
The Pointer Sisters🙌🏽
They were perfect for this.
First you shake your tuckus
Do a little pump
Do a little robot
Make a little bump
Tuckus, pump, robot, bump
That's the way you do it
When you're doing the Slump
"Wow, are you ever a keen-a!" LOL. That and "Ooooh, Cinderella!" are my two favorite lines in this.
The best part is the real truth of the sketch: don't chase what isn't really you. Lesson learned, Carol!
Love this show carol Burnett she always made me laugh when I was down.
I love this whole thing but Vicki Lawrence really slays me.
oh that was a fun blast from the past!
“He doesn’t want me because I’m a square” don’t think that’s the issue my dear😂🤦🏼♀️
Cinderella on Soul Train kingdom hahaha some brilliant interpretation 😁
And Tim Conway closes out the skit with the Mr. Tudball accent... Sweet!
Vicki and the Pointer Sisters dancing in those shoes was the most incredible thing about this whole incredible production.
Vicki Lawrence takes the cake....plus the cast, what a presence & so much talent & hip good taste allover. Wonderful
Right on! We were cool and could dig it in the 70;s:)
We were better dress too! Everybody, came to the party, dress to impress!
Watching Thelma Harper act like a sistuh was something else.
Wow Vickie Lawrence had a gorgeous body!
And hittin the high notes...awesome
Yes she always did, and a voice too,, not many knew she could sing,, I have a few cut CDs of her...
That booty is not hers..but yes she did rock that dress
The Ernie Flatt Dancers added so much to this show! They were always over-the-top excellent!
The creativity and plot twist is unmatched. The level of talent on this show is incredible.
Carol, Vicki, Harvey, Tim....all national treasures...the writers of this show had such an incredible amount of talent to work off of. I have never seen this skit and I watched Carol religiously, so I'm grateful to be able to see it now!
So many years of laughter. Thank you Carol Burnett and the rest of the gang that made this show a classic.
This skit needs a damn warning label lol Don't eat or drink while watching. Extreme choking hazard lmao
May cause Danny Thomas spit takes.
My sons bought me a boxed set of all The Carol Burnett shows for Christmas. The best gift that I have ever been given. I loved this show as a kid.
Yes the pointer sisters can you dig it? Lol
