    Martins: *Writes a treaty on overhead press*
    Zydrunas: I wake up, lift. Repeat. End of lesson.

    The evolution of strongman from hairy blokes in the 70s and 80s to now strength athletes who are perfecting squats, deadlifts etc. is amazing to see. Strongman events are one of my favourite competitions to watch now. Helps to have personalities like Martiiinnnnnssss involved too.

      Yes, it’s a lot more interesting than powerlifting and Olympic lifting, where they do the same lifts again and again. More fun to watch. More fun to do.

    Great walk-through of overhead working up to a contest, including correlation of phases (power, strength, speed, hypertrophy) to movement (strict press, partials, full range, rep counts, etc). Thanks for this!

    Hard to argue with a WSM winner but behind the neck presses are one of the quickest ways to land yourself with a shoulder impingement or worse. Take it from me, it is painful and shuts down pressing training completely

    • @OfficialStrongmancom
      @OfficialStrongmancom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you already had shoulder issues and this provoked it. BTN presses are amazing, but only if you've got the mobility to execute them properly.

    Dominate the overhead events? Mateusz dominated the pressing events at WSM last year and the Arnold's this year

    • @QueenToKingOfSpades
      @QueenToKingOfSpades 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Fabian K That being true, Martins stil has great technique and strength, and everything he says in the video is solid advice and would benefit 99,9% of lifters. Don’t discount people because one or two people are better than them. In this case it still makes Martins one of the top five pressers in the world.

    • @1234567891011milkman
      @1234567891011milkman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Martin's is considerably smaller and lighter then Mateusz so therefore his overhead pressing is arguably better then Mateusz if power to weight ratio is included

    • @fabiank485
      @fabiank485 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@QueenToKingOfSpades I'm not arguing about that he is not good, but they can't talk about dominating when Mateusz is crushing the opposition

    • @yusufonepiece
      @yusufonepiece 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Its tips to dominate overhead press. It doesn't say "The best presser giving tips to dominate OHP". Let's not forget Martins would still dominate 99.9% of all strongmen in the world. You don't need to be the best to have a plethora of knowledge!

    • @fabiank485
      @fabiank485 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yusufonepiece I think that we have a different understanding of the term "dominate". For me, that means that you are not one of the best, but THE best and no one can beat you

      Considering all top strongmen use steroids, steroids dont explain why he is dominating the events. Steroids dont just make you WSM, they eat, train and recover harder and better than anyone else. Dont belittle what they are doing, too many people think they could be just like them if they used steroids
