I have the first series of Nike Sq drivers, but the shaft cracked near the hovel. I do still use my (matching) 7H Nike Sq. It launches high and quick and is good for 200 yds.
I've had one in my bag for years . I only use it when the wind is blowing 20 mph or worse and in Texas that is quite often. I tend to keep it down with lots of forward spin. Works well for me. Mine is the legal version.
How do you tell which one is an illegal one when buying one? is it the sumo2 SQ's without the circle imprinted on the under side of the head? Really want to buy one of these!
I have the legal version of that exact driver. For some giggles I took it with me to the driving range yesterday. My daily set is a set of Nike Vapor Speed clubs. So when I got to the driver portion of my range time I pulled out both the Vapor and the SQ Sumo. Everyone else is hitting new drivers like Callaway Epics and Taylor Made Mwhatevers that all have that "tink" sound to them. I hit alternating shots with the Vapor and the SQ. First the Vapor...nice hit, no issue, typical "tink" sound. Then the SQ. Bang! Straight down the line...then I look and see that 5 of the people around me are staring at me with the WTF? look on their faces. Priceless.

As a golfer picking up the game I swapped my old Ca[laway Big Bertha and was given a Cobra Cowbell. We had 4 people in the club who had the Cowbells, and you knew exactly which hole they were on just listening to the 'peel" of churchbells around the course on a sunday morning. I borrowed a Nike SQ once and ended up giggling because all 4 in our group were using yellow drivers! It was at a time when the turkey on a broomstick thing was taking off, and we were buying a new driver every couple of months sadly all that dosh didn't improve my game at all, so now it's back to the rocketballz with a 3 wouls shaft on it and enough offset that you van shoot round corners.
Man, loved the drone footage of course. I once had the pleasure of hitting one of those clubs....hated it!!! I think you hit the nail on the head about how it’s the clubber and not the club. Great video, enjoyed it Liam.

You need to find an original Hippo Giant if you’re looking for a loud club. One of the first 400cc heads and impossible to hit straight. I let the pro have go with it at Huddersfield Driving range and he hit one into the rugby stadium.
I enjoy this and every vlog I have watched. My son is just getting into the game. So I went on a hunt for new full set of golf clubs. My clubs were a gift from my family 20 years ago. The clubs are a Kmart brand and my bag cost 5$ total. I so excited about this year. New clubs new bag new shoes, balls, cart and clothing. Watch out. This picture is of my son Mikey. Had a Nike sumo Sq for a days use, I bought it and without trying it, took it to wales on a golf day, the noise was unbearable, could not live with it, sold it for a loss same day to a guy in my four ball, couldn’t believe he wanted it lol. When I was at 9th halfway house everyone took a turn hitting it and I mean everyone, when I finished the round and went in the clubhouse after handing over the club, the whole bloody room was banging their wedding rings etc on their pint pots to me lol, never bought another bike club since... by the way you still raising your hands before you take the club back, and that’s killing your swing mate. Great Video Liam. I had the original Shape Nike Sq driver and its still going strong today as i sold it to a fellow golf mate a few years ago. Back then we i was playing off 22. This was a great Driver. Since then moved to Cobra's and the difference in distance is clear too see. I also have an old Nike Sq Square Hybrid which was in the bag for many years till it got replaced with a Cobra. I play with a fellow that has a square shaped driver, and you're correct, it's really loud! Sounds like a 12 gauge going off! And it doesn't make any difference how he swings it, or where the ball goes, it still makes a horrible sound. Told him I was going to bring my ear protection from the gun range next time I played with him! LOL
Had one of these with 8.5 degree loft and X flex aldilla shaft, still the easiest to hit driver I've had. Had to get rid of it due to excessive noise! And ear popping!
A golf mate of mine had a Cobra f Speed, used to turn a few heads down the driving range when that bad boy came out! Some would even duck thinking they were being shot at!! 😂 He loved it! 🏌 ♥
I have a legal (with ring on base), 8 degree Sumo Sq, driver with an Adilla blue proto X stiff. shaft. Nothing I have had before or after hits the ball as far or is as loud, NOTHING. I also have the 3 wood, nice. Great review.

I have & still use my Nike sumo. I think tha square head is very forgiving. If I hit it on tha heel or toe, it doesn't hook or slice as a rounded driver would... Great video 👍🏻
If I recall the early Cobras were also LOUD. Don’t apologise for your accent, it is one of the great things that sets us apart. We have them all in Perth Aus.
Mate in my golf society had a driver you could tell he had hit his tee shot from 6 holes away by the sound it made, sounded like a cannon going off. Good luck for Sunday.

I Still play with a sumo2, tried different drivers but the toaster on a stick works for me. People always laugh, until it pings down the fairway relatively straight every time. One man's rubbish is another man's treasure ⛳👌🏼

I've had the SUMO driver for 8yrs and hit it better than any other driver I've tried. Also have the square 3 wood and I smoke that club far and straight. The 3 wood sounds great! I like the attention and the loud booms. I like having something nobody else has oh and Tiger did well with the same driver, HELLO!

I have said it before, it’s all about the player and the how you play on the day. Great test, would have loved to part of the day on Sunday but I will be there next Thursday playing with Brett from Australia. And also in the am/am day the following week. Can’t wait.
Just watched and the main difference at the end is your Epic has 1.5 degrees less loft so will give you a more penetrating flight so should go further. Plus it will be made with better materials. Still a 250 yard hit with a sore back is pretty good.
My pal had one a while back, he got rid of it after three months before it made him deaf!! It was loud. I believe the next driver was the Nike "Sasquatch" it was a little bit quieter.
As a true Yorkshireman, I have one of these in my bag that's in Kissimmee FL. I bought it for $5. Not as cheap as the others in the bag though, 3-9 Taylormade Bubble Shaft irons, bought for $1 per club.

LightningDogg ... I played Royal St Cloud course last May 2019. I was so impressed with it, I've now got a pic of its clubhouse as my phone home screen! It's a 3x 9hole, (red, white, and blue courses)so when you book an18hole round, the starter lets you know which 2x 9hole to play based on how busy each one is. Again, as a true Yorkshireman, I played my 2x allocated courses, but as the blue course wasn't busy, I snuck onto it and did all 27holes. $18 incl buggy on Golfnow. I'm off to that area on 9th Nov for a couple of weeks, so I'll definitely be playing there again. Who knows, might see you there. Pete

I had a Ram square driver.Horrible noise got rid after 3 rounds,heap of junk.My mate had the Callaway square driver,better noise but no better than normal shape. Got bored of knocking my driver off the planet so I got rid of it and only hit 3wood or hybrid off the tee atm. Going to save up some pennies go get custom fit for a driver 👍 that way least when I hit a stinker I know it's just me cuz the clubs built for me lol 🤦♂️. Keep up the good work 👌⛳
It was about 15-20 years ago I was in a Nevada Bobs hitting drivers.i hit the square Nike at $400 and a $150 jack nicklaus driver.i couldn’t hit the Nike to save my life no matter how many times I hit it.but I nailed the Nicklaus driver though..go figure..

I had the Callaway Big Mac Box and seemed like the same problem you were having...just no confidence with it behind the ball and you knew it had a horrendous noise no matter how you hit it....stick to your Epic. I have the Sasquatch and the Sumo II, and still use them. Used one to hit just off the green on a 298 yd. par 4 last week. Putted about 30 feet to drain the Eagle for the first time, ever!. Still have never had a hole in one. Great clubs when you can still find them.
Hey mate, just wanted to say I love your videos. I'm new to golf and just started playing with my grandfather who is similar age to OAP. Im loving the game though, played my first round last week and shot a 98, my grandfather was over the moon which is all I wanted to do, make him happy. I'm playing with some handed down clubs from the 90s lol and I'll have to stick with them because I've not got the money to be buying anything new. But I'm having fun, that's all that matters.
Hi #Golfmates, can vaguely remember there being an outcry by medicos saying that they were too loud at around 120+ dB which could cause hearing problems if used long term. There were also some 600 - 700cc driver heads around at the time, before 460cc became the maximum volume, should try to get one of those for a vlog 👍🏒🏌️♂️
We have one of those Nikes (we call it the coke can) with a ladies shaft in it that we take it on our annual boys trip and use it as the mandatory club for the long drive competition.

Yeah I had one of those. I hit it long and straight...but just couldn't get used to the sound. I sounded like the smashing of a pop can!
My mate had one, it sounded like throwing my ball against a oil drum.
The original Cobra L4V was louder. I had one, and would always get looks on the range.(especially if I ripped one!)
I have the L5V...it is loud too. That doesn't bother me.

Got bored of knocking my driver off the planet so I got rid of it and only hit 3wood or hybrid off the tee atm. Going to save up some pennies go get custom fit for a driver 👍 that way least when I hit a stinker I know it's just me cuz the clubs built for me lol 🤦♂️. Keep up the good work 👌⛳
It was about 15-20 years ago I was in a Nevada Bobs hitting drivers.i hit the square Nike at $400 and a $150 jack nicklaus driver.i couldn’t hit the Nike to save my life no matter how many times I hit it.but I nailed the Nicklaus driver though..go figure..

I had the Callaway Big Mac Box and seemed like the same problem you were having...just no confidence with it behind the ball and you knew it had a horrendous noise no matter how you hit it....stick to your Epic. You are not playing too badly for being a Golfer + Cameraman + Commentator + any other jobs you do during your round....thanks for the laughs golfmate...

I have the Sasquatch and the Sumo II, and still use them. Used one to hit just off the green on a 298 yd. par 4 last week. Putted about 30 feet to drain the Eagle for the first time, ever!. Still have never had a hole in one. Great clubs when you can still find them.

Hey mate, just wanted to say I love your videos. I'm new to golf and just started playing with my grandfather who is similar age to OAP. Im loving the game though, played my first round last week and shot a 98, my grandfather was over the moon which is all I wanted to do, make him happy. I'm playing with some handed down clubs from the 90s lol and I'll have to stick with them because I've not got the money to be buying anything new. But I'm having fun, that's all that matters.

Hi #Golfmates, can vaguely remember there being an outcry by medicos saying that they were too loud at around 120+ dB which could cause hearing problems if used long term. There were also some 600 - 700cc driver heads around at the time, before 460cc became the maximum volume, should try to get one of those for a vlog 👍🏒🏌️♂️
I live beside a driving range & can always tell when someone is hitting one of the old Cobra from about 10-12 yrs ago , like a gun going off
Years ago I had won one of those in a golf outing. I hit a few balls with it and couldn't stand the noise. I sold it on eBay.
We have one of those Nikes (we call it the coke can) with a ladies shaft in it that we take it on our annual boys trip and use it as the mandatory club for the long drive competition.

Just wondered if you have played any our local courses Liam Oulton Hall in Leeds garforth in Leeds or pontefract golf club or Darrington golf club both in Pontefract
