This is exactly the video I needed! I tried just scissor clipping my doodles head and I hated it! I was scared of using the clippers but this gave me confidence to try for our next home groom!
Thank you for this, informative and instructional. Also had a little boy who couldn't be older than 8 comment about his laberdoodle dog's coat "did you use 5/8?" and he pointed at the length chart we use. I was speechless (in a good way) and told him yes. He smiled and said doggo looked pretty.
Thank you for the detailed explanations on what and why of your technique. Pity the camera wasn't in quite the most useful position for some critical moments (your actions were off the frame).
Oh my gosh, Sarah, you sent this to me a few months ago on FB and I kid you not I just found I pulled it up a few days for a refresher before grooming my dood this weekend (it had been a few months since I groomed him)... and here you are on my TH-cam home feed! Love it. Love your work :)
I love this cut 🤩 ! You need to fix your camera so we can see you doing his face better though . I’m trying to learn thus cut so bad . I have the same type doodle but he’s probably has way more curls . When blow dried he’s nice and smooth but that only lasts a day 🤦♀️ . I have to keep him short like this . Your the only groomer that I’ve seen do a doodle like this 🙌🏻 they all make mine look like a poodle 🤦♀️ so I’ve been doing him myself
I was told by a groomer that does show dogs that cutting the eyelashes is a big no-no. With that said, I took my doodle in and told them specifically not to cut the eyelashes….they chopped them off! My husband picked her up and when I saw her I was pretty upset about it…..groomers need to listen to specific requests. Also if a groomer is going to put a video out please review it before you post it…you can’t see what you are doing….
I work for that company to. Not sure if you’re still employed there but what camera did you use for this? Was it mounted with a strap on your head or chest
You can use a clipper or scissors, sometimes I’ll only use scissors. This is just a quick easy way to set a consistent length, especially if you’re a newer groomer and not super proficient with your scissor work yet. Sometimes I’ll just take one swipe down the center of the head with the clipper to set my length, then I’ll use curved chunkers to blend into the rest of the head.
I have a Wahl KM but the longest guard i can find to fit it is 1". Where do you find the 1 1/2 inch guard? I've searched online but am coming up empty handed.
Why are u shaving in reverse on the head? Is that a typical thing in doodle grooming im a baby groomer and just wondering what kind of thinning shears are u using or are they chunkers?
I used to work at petsmart a few years ago and when I was there, we definitely did! I'm sure they still do 👍 We would also pluck the hair out of the ears for the breeds that grow it in the ear canal (like most doodles)
Cuts happen at some point or another. That’s just the truth, because you’re working with very sharp tools on live non-consenting animals that have a mind of their own and can be unpredictable. I’ve been grooming for over 20 years so cuts are few and far between. However any groomer can cut a dog at any time with one small movement. I do my best to be conscious of exactly what and where I’m cutting and am very careful.
This was my first attempt using a new device that hold my phone around my neck and there’s no way to see if it’s in frame while it’s attached lol so working out the kinks 😊

Yes I’m really bummed the camera didn’t keep everything in frame. I was testing out a new device to hold my phone for recording and was unable to watch the screen as I recorded. I need to recruit help for filming. Hopefully sometime this summer I’ll wrangle a helper to video for me!
I’ve been grooming for 20+ years and am very careful, but have a lot more muscle memory and confidence than most people grooming their pet at home. Being experienced and efficient just teaches you to scissor quickly
This was my first time trying out a new device to hold my camera. When it’s attached to the device you cannot watch the s teen to check if it’s in frame so it’s sort of shooting blind. I just kept getting requests for a video and this was the best I could put together at the time without a helper
Such a good boy! I love how silly he looked when you brushed all the hair back towards his eyes hahaha
This is exactly the video I needed! I tried just scissor clipping my doodles head and I hated it! I was scared of using the clippers but this gave me confidence to try for our next home groom!
Thank you sooooooo much for this tutorial! My goldendoodle has never looked cuter!
I just love this video!!! Thank you so much. I don't need to watch the entire groom. Very helpful!!!
Definitely the best face tutorial I've watching, and I've watched seveeral! Thanks so much!!

Great video. I groom my doodle puppy and this is very detailed and helpful.
Beautiful baby! Thanks for the tutorial!

I agree. I really wanted to see her work not sadly ended up watching her supply cart most of the time.
I especially wanted to see how she did the eyes.
Yes that was a problem if you were trying to learn
What kind of thinning type shears did you use on the face? Brand- size? Thanks
So far the easiest most informative and directional video I’ve watched to do this myself for my girl Thank you 😊
Thank you! I wish it stayed in frame better but hopefully helps!
Yes, thank you so much for the detail! So helpful.
So cute!
What scissors are you using?
Great video of the wall and tool chest 😂
Love it! Can you share a link to the scissors you are using?
Fresh Shears are way better. I've been grooming for 20 years and they are my favorite
Any chance you can post A teddy bear doodle face with a wavy or hair doodle?
Could you possibly send a link for the scissors you have used??
This video has made me confident to do Doodle heads!
What size did you do on his body, legs and head?
You should use whitening shampoo to combat the staining

Are you supposed to cut the eyelashes short too? I love my dogs long eyelashes and was really surprised when I got her back and they were cut off.
I was told by a groomer that does show dogs that cutting the eyelashes is a big no-no.

This video was almost super helpful
What kind of scissors are you using here? Where did you get then from?
I never use a guard comb on the head on my doodles. I use siccors and blenders.

Thanks sooo much - amazing!!

Oster 10 piece set
I'm a Groomer as well for 35 years. You did a great job. Time consuming... That's for sure. Nice
Thanks mate !
Love it!
Why are u shaving in reverse on the head? Is that a typical thing in doodle grooming im a baby groomer and just wondering what kind of thinning shears are u using or are they chunkers?
I always shave reverse in head.. On all breeds. It gives it a cleaner blend from neck to head
Going in reverse on the top of the head will prevent showing as many clipper marks. The hair blends better.
I always end up with a mullet.
What size blade are you using under the guard? And what size blade do you use for the paw pads?
30 under the guard comb and should be a 10 for pads and sanitary
😊 thanks
Such a good floofy boy
What about the dogs whiskers? Do you have to be careful not to cut the whiskers?
No there is no problem cutting dog whiskers. In many breeds the whiskers are shaved completely off such as poodles, cocker spaniels, setters etc
❤❤❤
Hard to see the dog face is cut out in a lot of the important parts.
I came here to see how to scissor the head and she grabbed clippers haha my teacher would slap my wrist
I wish the angle of the camera was better
I doubt a dog’s mom would have an opinion on any of this stuff.
Can you redo with the camera at a better angle? Most of the time you can't see when and where you're cutting.
How about picking the hair inside the ear!!!!
Hey just wondering, anyone can answer, does PetSmart clean dog’s ears during grooms?
I used to work at petsmart a few years ago and when I was there, we definitely did! I'm sure they still do 👍 We would also pluck the hair out of the ears for the breeds that grow it in the ear canal (like most doodles)
Yes ears always get cleaned
Yes dogs ears get cleaned unless instructed not to, or the dog has some sort of irritation or infection etc
Your content is so good, but you need someone to hold the camera still, i'm getting dizzy.
Keep the dog in view.
I wonder we how many dogs she has cut.

You were off the camera view several times making it tough to watch what you were doing
Too close when you are filming...
This was my first attempt using a new device that hold my phone around my neck and there’s no way to see if it’s in frame while it’s attached lol so working out the kinks 😊
Camera is all over the place and not focussed as much as it could have.

Your videos could be the most informative IF ONLY EVERYTHING SHOWED ON CANERA! You should redo!

@@Sarahgrooming I hope you do! I’m really interested in seeing everything. I was really interested in your technique. I’ll keep a look out for you!
Dauert viel zu lange das Geschnippel ! Was für ein Stress für den Hund!!!
Great cut but surely not careful with clippers and scissors around the eyes. Made me nervous
I’ve been grooming for 20+ years and am very careful, but have a lot more muscle memory and confidence than most people grooming their pet at home. Being experienced and efficient just teaches you to scissor quickly
MUTT grooming.
AWFUL CAMERA WORK If you’re actually trying to show people how to groom a dog’s head maybe show the head in all of the frames or at least 90%
