Thanks, i just removed my restrictors watching your video, it’s hot summer in here, i live in an apartment. I had no air flow, now i have some! Thanks!
Thanks for uploading video, I just watched out of interest and indirectly you've helped me solve the reason why I couldn't open my window fully. keep the videos going.
+Jack The Lad I will cover that in future ;-)I have had lots of practice with files from when I did my adult apprenticeship in electrical/mechanical maintenance and fitting. Thanks for the comment ;-)
Perfect timing & another excellent video once again. Thanks for all of your work & keep up the great work as you've dramatically improved my limited DIY skills! 😄👍🏻
+UH. Metal Work and Woodwork have been dropped from the school curriculum for at least 5 years to my knowledge... Health & Safety, the 'Nanny State' and the fear of litigation. Strange, methinks, because when we studied these subjects at school (early 70's) not one of us cut off our fingers, or suffered any injuries, not even when being taught how to use both wood turning and metal turning lathes, and then being left 'get on with it' unsupervised. I see apprentices from college who's skill-sets and dexterity in the handling of tools is, I would estimate, at least 3 years behind where I was as a apprentice. I honestly believe we are doing those young people who will succeed us in our trades and crafts a great dis-service. So much for progress! Yeah, I often venture over your side too... just love the beauty of the open moorland.
+Ultimate Handyman. I was taught the correct way to use a file by my father when I was a kid, and then later in Metal Work class at school ( a subject, together with Woodwork, now regrettably dropped from the school curriculum) and it's a skill that's being lost. As you probably know, a good file, like a good rasp, doesn't come cheap, but in the wrong hands and used incorrectly can be rendered useless in a few strokes. Great vids, by the way, and greetings from t'other side of Anglezarke Moor.
+Jack The Lad Thanks Jack, I had no idea that Metalwork and Woodwork were being dropped by the school curriculum- that is really bad! I do venture to that side of Anglezarke moor sometimes as it's the nicer side ;-) Thanks for the comments
my wife's younger sister had fallen out the window when younger not a far fall maybe 4feet this was due to the sofa being in front of the window (double hung vertical sliding )leaning on screen reading a book.... the screen was no match unfortunately the only solutions were moving sofa and her learning a hard lessons life changes in an instant thanks enjoying
+napodano26 Bunk beds have just been erected in this room, right next to the window. It's always best to be safe rather than sorry as you say, these things happen so quickly and are life changing! Thanks for the comment
Nice video Chez, one question: whjy do you always stop/spin yhour drill driver so much? I can understand that its easier in the beginning of drilling a hole but i don't really get it with driving screws.
+FoodOnCrack I often pulse the trigger when driving small screws instead of changing the torque control on the drill as I knew I would be drilling again afterwards. It's much easier to stop without damaging anything if you pulse the trigger. Thanks for the comment ;-)
+Faisal Y I did the same on the other window (there were two openers) but I only installed one restrictor to each of the windows. Thanks for the comment ;-)
+Keelin Black Not really as I don't really need one. I tend to use my 18v Dewalt drill for the heavier tasks or for really heavy stuff the Milwaukee 18v impact wrench.
I may need to do this...but for other reasons-To stop my cats and the neighbours cats from nudging my bedroom windows open from outside (i live in a bungalow),and getting in! This could be the solution ive been looking for!
+animal79thecat He has appeared in quite a few videos, but sometimes I have edited him out. Yesterday I was working in the garage and the cat was in there then disappeared. I thought he had gone home until I went in my office and found him asleep on my chair! Thanks for the comment
I need one making for the backdoor to stop unwanted guessed opening it haha just thought of that jokes aside.... great idea what you thought off, thanks for sharing :D
Please do not fit these restrictors to any windows! These do not comply with UK building regulations as window restrictors should allow for manual release (with no tools) to allow for escape in the event of a fire.
+Adam Roberts What about the ones for sale on ebay that require a key to release them? Surely a key is classed as a "tool". I thought I made it quite clear in the video not to fit these to a window if it's your only means of escape in the event of a fire. Thanks for the comment.

over the last 6 months your videos have installed massive confidence in my diy skills, I'll give anything a go now thank you so much.

I'm glad to hear that ;-)

Great video mate. With his weather we been having recently this is ideal to keep the windows open at night without fears of someone getting in too.
Thanks for the comment 👍

It's a pleasure to see somebody who knows how to use a file in the correct manner.... maybe a topic for a future video, UH?

+Jack The Lad I feel sorry for the kids! The only two lessons I actually liked at school were woodwork and metalwork. Thanks for the comment ;-)
Nice clean and simple fix there!

I stop/start too! Don't know why - nice to keep checking? Don't want to go full pelt, but little bursts are nice?
Do You think You could use a self tapping screw for mounting that stop? Would it hold as well as a pre-drilled hole screw?
Very good video - well presented
Thanks for the comment

Cool wee tip. Wish I had saved the one I replaced at my folks now.

Would you ever consider buying an 18 v impact driver
+Keelin Black
Not really as I don't really need one. I tend to use my 18v Dewalt drill for the heavier tasks or for really heavy stuff the Milwaukee 18v impact wrench.
Do you have to do both sides or is one enough
+martkt10
I just did one side.

We have a cat that lives next door and it's like the dinosaur at the start of the Flintstones LOL, we just can't keep it out.
Ill have to watch that lol.
My house is like "come to mecca" when it comes to cats.

Good idea, certainly better that buying the commercial version that probably costs a lot money for not much, really
+aserta
I think the only difference is that the shop bought ones can be disabled in the event of a fire.

What about loosing the fire escape though, why not just fit a proper one that can be deactivated they aren't expensive .
Does anyone know what the marker is called @3:34? Thanks
I was thinking the same thing ! Dragons den mate lol
