Thank you, your video saved me when I had ballooning. now the door runs perfect.😀
Glad I could help! Thanks again
Awesome brother 👏
The only thing that could help is marking the track with a witness line or mark to keep track of have you have moved it.
Very helpful video, thanks 😊
Hey mate, just recently hoped into this trade of work and I’m trying to be a sponge and absorb all types of knowledge and I just want to say your vids are clear, educational and fairly simple to understand. Well done.
Thanks, I’m all for sharing knowledge experiences as there was almost no resources when I started 20 years ago.
Where abouts are you located ?
You made it look easy to put more tension on. Our door has a lot more tension!
Haha yeah maybe muscle memory! please be careful it’s under some reasonable powerful spring tension but not overly crazy like a panel lift door (2 turns compared to 8). Also never 👎🏻 attempt when the door is closed only open.
@@rollerdoors Probably why it was tough for us, I think we did it whilst closed since there was limited space. Can't remember as it was so long ago. Probably why we did quite a few turns too.
Certainly enough tension in there to kill someone!
Great advice throughout. Well done.
Thank you kindly!
Dude. Thanks a lot. I've been searching rollerdoor videos and info on the internet for some time. I didn't realize that my door had a tension issue. Sorted that out thanks to this video. Now I am batteling with a controller for the motor that only lifts up... and doesn't want to lower the door. Limits checked. They look like they work. So my thought was reprogram a remote. Now my remote is not having any effect.
You’re welcome!! One direction could mean a faulty limit switch or plug to the box
@@rollerdoors hey. Thanks for the reply. It looks like one of the relays is the issue. I figured it out by tapping on it with a screwdriver. It seems like it works for a while. And if it doesn't giving the relay a tap does the trick again. Would I be able to replace the relay with a soldering job? Or should I think of relacing the entire control box?
The remote issue seems like the receiver needs the be replaced.
Thanks for the roller door video clip, most helpful. Cheers IRVINE.
Cheers Irvine 👍
Just like a bought one. Sweet. For a problem where the door stops and reverses, could it also be a problem with the brake mechanism within the motor assembly?
Another door fixed by the king!
🤩💪🏻
Thanks mate, I need to try this tomorrow as mine is all the way up but ballooned!
Awesome Good luck! 🤞🏻 and stay safe
One of the best videos mate, l have same problem but my door manual doesn’t have motor can I follow this video our its different way to fix manual roller garage door?
Thanks. Yes, absolutely 👍🏻 but it probably requires some spring tension I’ve got a video on that too
Awesome video. My roller door is jammed shut and is ballooning when I try to open it manually, it will lift only a couple of inches after a lot of effort. The tension was lost after my brother loosened the bolts on both sides of the roller door to try and fix its stickyness. How do I fix the tension on a closed roller door?
Oh no that would definitely do the trick. I should have a the video for that exact problem if you have a check on my channel.
@@rollerdoors just found that video, bloody life saver. Will do it this weekend. My roller door is 5m wide though (a double garage) and I cannot see how many springs it has because it still has about two rolls on it even after being fully shut. Should I be retensioning from both sides if I have more than one spring? Subscribed to your channel btw.
In this the door drops down from the halfway point when its disengaged.
If the door rises a little instead of dropping, does that indicate too much spring tension and it needs to be backed off?
Roughly balanced is fine. A little up or down is ok. Fast dropping or a loose roll is no good. Door should be light to lift and run smoothly
Great video
Hello mate, great video. The fabric lining which is stuck to my roller door has started to come loose in a couple of spots. Therefore in these spots it is jagging out slightly and I think it is preventing the 3mm gap on one side. The door is sometimes going to half way before auto rolling back up. In this case is it possible to for instance super glu it down to the door in those couple of spots? Thanks!
Hey 👋🏻
Yeah if it’s causing an issue super glue will work just fine. That’s actually a good idea.
So if I was to tighten it on the right side I would push the wrench upward? I cant get on the left side at all...
Always down
When re-tensioning should the motor be disengaged? I noticed you had the motor engaged!
Doesn’t really matter. However, it is an extra safety feature to have it engaged because if it does lose tension, Door won’t drop.
Hello.... where can I get a spare guard block p/n 7153? Mines worn out.
My door now won't open. Per your instruction, I re-tensioned the spring so it doesn't drop at half open (half turn down on the wrench). So I guess I have to back the spring tension off? The motor seems to be straining. So I back off the spring tension? Cheers.
Many thanks
Please let me know where the battery of the motor, thanks
No battery all mains powered
Hi Can you help I have a reverse roll roll a door that has lost its tension and has ballooned, It is currently rolled up do I need to release and let the door down before re-tensioning?
Best to do it rolled up.
Very helpful video mate👍
Is lt always the left side to retention ?
Cheers. Any side is ok but always pull down on the shaft.
Thanks mate much appreciated 👍👍
I tried to fix it last weekend. I retention three time from the right side, and two times from the left side, but it looks the same. It’s still ballooning. Then I realised I did the retention when the shutter is down. Nothing changed and still ballooning. Do you recommend I open the shutter up and do the retention, and can I do the retention from both sides or only one side? Thanks for your patience. Appreciate your help.
Why silicon spray the tracks? That will collect dust and grime which the felt will start getting ruined collecting grime then eventually getting tacky and start sticking
That’s a great point! Silicon spray is a fantastic choice for roller door tracks because it doesn't leave a sticky residue or attract dust like oily sprays like WD-40. And unlike oily sprays, silicon spray doesn’t oil or grease the tracks, which can actually cause more problems by attracting dust and turning your nylofelt edge black and sticky and will 100% ruin your door. I’ve been recommending silicon spray for over 15 years now, and I can confirm that it’s a reliable and effective solution for garage door track maintenance.
Remember: Many garage doors have a sticker that says “Do Not Grease.” This is because greasing the tracks can actually shorten the life of your door. Silicon spray is a great alternative that won’t void your warranty and can help your door operate smoothly for years to come but manufacturers would never tell you this because they don’t want your door or service interval to be prolonged as this is how they make revenue.

Thanks heaps for this.
