Blown Chevelle First Start In 2 Years - Will It Run and Drive home?

  • Finally! It's time to get my 1971 Super Charged Chevrolet Chevelle out of storage. It's been years since it's seen light, so we're going to do the right thing make it run and just hope it makes it home. It's got a small block chevy with a 142 blower and a list a mile long of goodies. I built this car many, many years ago and it's been moved around with our family since. Think we'll make it 1.5 hours home?

This feller has a 70 chevelle that's been asleep in my garage for eleventeen years. Transmission got blowed up and she's been sitting every since. A guy spent over 58 million dollars on the engine and about 75 cents on the trans. She's got a dart headed sbc with a 10 thousand lift cam and umpteen to 4 compression. If a Minnesota guy ever comes to California let this feller know. Itd be nice to hear the ol girl run again. And itd make a cool video on the TH-cams

I like the car. Brother bought a brand new Chevelle 1971 in 1971. Had the orange paint and the 307 2-barrel. He traded that in for a 1973 Chevy Nova SS in Yellow with black trim. Special ordered it with a 350, but he ordered the 2 barrel? Then he got married and wound up with a Plymouth Arrow? Me, I had a 1968 Ford LTD with a 390, and a Holley 780CFM Dual Line. That is where I learned how to tune a Holley Carburetor.

Honestly man, that Chevelle is absolutely beautiful. It runs great for a high compression blown engine. I have a 355 in my 74 Camaro Z28 with an Eaton 4 speed and it makes about 425 HP, so that must be making close to 500-550 with the higher compression and Roots-style blower. Granted, that's the smaller displacement supercharger, but it's still a supercharger.

Beautiful machine. When I did my 72 Chevelle Malibu back in the 90s I ended up putting a junkyard Monte Carlo cluster setup in there. It was pretty much the same as the Chevelle SS, but a fraction of the price. I'm pretty sure by now people have long learned that trick and are charging big bucks for the Monte Carlo cluster setup as well.
I did drive it a few times with the original big sweeping speedometer, that thing would fluctuate back and forth with a difference of about 10 miles an hour when I was driving steady LOL
Mine had bench seat up front, never did get around to swapping out with buckets before I sold it.
This car is much nicer than mine ever was, but it's still bringing back some great memories

I painted my 72 Chevelle 87 Corvette dark orange metallic, or candy tangerine. Put the black rally stripes on like yers. These cars are great hiway cruisers!

Beautiful Chevelle bro👍🏻 Chevelles are my all time favorite cars! I'm partial to the '68 because my dad had one when I was a child. It was a California car!! (No rust) he promised to give it to me when I got my license, but we fell on hard times and he had to sell it when I was around 12 years old.😭 I would kill to be able to get another one someday!! I'd take Rocky off ur hands for ya if you need me to!!!

We love your videos, you crack us up with the reference names for the parts and although we know you know what you're doing , it's great and entertaining like your disclaimer ( Best one I've ever read). My wife also says you got a great woman who is so talented and beautiful and it's a good thing that she can work on the cars too since you just get lazy and don't want to do it. Lol . Funny, thanks for the inspiration and we was curious what state or planet you originated from. Ha ha!. Happy times and good vibes to you always, Anna and Walt

That is sweet. My dear old dad had a 73' only a couple years old, when I was a kid. I'd like to find a nice 1 2 or 3 to restore. Just not a MN car you know all the weight reduction..
