Wait, the Welsh backline comprised the four best backs from the greatest Lions team ever, as well as an important dirt tracker, plus a key member of the 1971 team, and Ray Gravell, and then in the forwards they had the Pontypool front row, the great Mervyn Davies and Derek Quinnell (not on this day),and a number of other guys who weren't exactly slouches, and yet they went into the championship as underdogs?
I'm no expert on Rugby, but I've been watching the internationals for yrs,now the 'Springboks are all about Power, strength, speed and effeciency & the Irish are so cohesive, confident and entertaining, but it seems the only ones to really entertain are the AB's? buts yrs back with Wales and the French,it just looked more attractive!

Wales always looking to move tge ball with tempo and heads up off the cuff rugby looking to exploit the space .. forwards all capable of passing and players running with ball in both hands and inter passing without spinning the bstrd ball to a player only 2metres away.. almost 40 years ago and the handling skills were better..
les Rouges était les meilleurs du monde quel rugby magnifique merci
Comme c’est vrai

Underdogs to win it cos back in those days it was usually between Wales and France to win title ..
Wales v France games back then were some of the most entertaining rugby games to watch even now cos both teams had intent to play..
