  • With its 4.0L twin-turbo V8 pushing 630hp and 664lb-ft, 4MATIC+ AWD with torque vectoring, carbon ceramic brakes, rear wheel steering, and a 9 speed multi-clutch transmission, can this $212k luxury barge hide its 4700lb curb weight when pushed on track?
Shout-out to the kind folks at MAMA who organized the 2023 Spring Rally at Road America.

Interesting feedback going from a lightweight to a heavyweight platform. I bet it rips but half as enjoyable when the limit is stratospheric whereas with a brz you can get it on its toes so darn easy

I feel your pain. Coming from a BRZ, why use the brake ? 🤣

Going from 228hp/2800lb to 630hp/4700lb definitely requires an adjustment in driving technique lmao

Mercedes/AMG really do love pushing the envelope of tech and complexity in their latest models... complete opposite of the "back to basics" drivers cars that I usually find myself in

Love AMG cars and good to see you review the GT63s....please review the W213 E63S sedan if you get a chance. AMG has come a long ways and has become a very competitive car that is purely a daily driver with another attitude if you push it. AMG has been top 3 in Nurburgring along with Lamborghini, and Porsche!! Keep up the great vlogs!!!

If an allocation can be had and for the same money, I'd gladly pay for a GT4 RS 😎 It would be better suited to track duty than this. I know this is a safe environment to test a car like this, but it still looks like a "duck out of water".

IMHO, a 2.4 ton AMG sport sedan is disappointing. The law of diminishing returns rounds the hump when adding more tech, weight, and expense to make a heavy sedan "feel lighter" by making measured drive input superfluous. Nearly sold myself LOL'n when Matt said "it's as fast as a GT-R, up to a point." At 20 sec faster around the Ring, the NISMO spec GT-R slaps the schnitzel out of the 831hp AMG GT63 S E Performance. Crazy what people will pay for a badge. It's the hoochie Gucci factor.

@@cdeN1ne Personally, I lean towards a direct engaging driving experience when it comes to high performance sports sedans. I'm not interested in status symbols, luxury creature comforts, or over reaching tech that completely sublimates the driver's skill for a synthetic performance experience.

a balance of hard on speed and knowing when to brake.. which obviously might take more than a lap to figure out. Sounds good. But know that this cars performance is so much more than seen in this vid.

One thing I’ve never done is threshold braking. For him to say that’s the fast way around a track. Makes me think perhaps I really do need to upgrade my sim pedals. Two. I don’t have a track car now but I really would like to try this. It would be interesting to hear your feedback at your next track day is when you do try out what he said. You mentioned your abs. Can you turn it off? I wonder if you can drop those pb times. Man. I need to get back to the track. I may have an opportunity to buy a GT4. And if I do. I’ll reach out!

His feedback was very valid. I was braking too deep into corner entry and asking too much of the front tires. Partly because Road America is a brand new track for me, partly because the car is heavy AF and I wasn't used to the brakes, and partly because I'm a zynoob.
