997.1 GT3 RS is very raw and pure Mezger engine, old school heavy clutch and notchy shifter … better twisty road suspension than anything that follows it … as a driver would take the Euro spec all day long with factory clubsport
Agree with your comments about the Metzger engine. The 991 & 992 GT3 engines may be more powerful and higher revving but the Metzger in the 996 & 997 sounds more raw and race car like. I loved my mildly modified 996 GT3 which was great to drive after I got the geo sorted to dial out the understeer in stock form. The 997 build quality is much improved though.
Yeah, that’s awful on a car of this caliber. It’s something you’d expect to hear in a lowered Civic with incorrect wheel offset. Really screws up the driving experience imo
@@DC5Brandon All 911's have wider rears than equivalent Cayman/Boxster due to the more rearward weight distribution. Standard rears on a Carrera are still 295 wide
I’ve skipped 997.2GT3RS but acquired 997.1GT3RS instead. Because of the conditions (23,000km, no over revs at all, full original paints, sub €140k price ) and especially the color. Kermit. Color is so important , and for me , this RS Green is one of the best green for the series of 911 history. Just my 2 cents. One day I’ll get the .2 RS. Just a wish 🤞
In EU, the difference is around €30-50k in between.1 and .2 But there is no Kermit is for sale at this moment and RS green commands almost as expensive as .2 prices lately. Green is a killer.
I was shopping hard for one of these in 2019. Had a self imposed limit of $125K. I wanted an orange one. There were three for sale at one point. Cheapest was $112K. Most expensive was $149K. Crazy how fast they have gone up in value.
My favorite car even though i have been driving the 991.2 gt3 manual. But when i drove this once only it was amazing and for sure more connected and rewarding especially on the curves. The limits are lower and more fun on the roads. Just the prices have gone up so much so i dont think it is worth that much seeing the prices i had seen earlier. Anyone think in the coming years we will see a correction?
I love it too and my favorite car when i drove it being an owner of 991.2 gt3 manual, i still prefer this but the escalated prices are throwing me off seeing what the prices used to be. My experience is always the world does go thru corrections. We tend to forget that.
Perfection. However so is a .2. Definitely worth it and would be my choice over a 991 or 992. Other cars that match it for driving engagement? Obviously and Elise or S2 Exige, but if only you could try a late model (better build quality) Exige 410/420/430, I think you would enjoy it ;)
Though I have sat on the forward Deck of an x6 spaceship and warped through the hyperspace windows of time and came barrel rolling out into the brilliance of a primordial yesterday I have yet to find anything that moves me like a 997.1 gt3rs…
Porsche numbers/models/trims are freaking confusing. I have no idea what dot 1, dot 2, dot whatever means. I just love how they look and sound. One day I hope to drive one.
Shame this road wasn't better for these evaluations. Car is LOUD inside too. I think I like the looks of a 997.2 better but if I am having a .1 that's the color over anything else. Gorgeous.
I thought the 997.1 RS and 997.2 RS have the same suspension. What makes the 997.2 RS suspension more sophisticated? I know the power bump comes from going from the 3.6 RS to the 3.8 RS and later the unicorn 4.0 RS. But you can fix that by going with a 3.9, 4.1 or 4.2 stroker kit for the 997.1 RS.

I just recently purchased my 997.1 RS . I drove all recent gt3s 992,991. I didn’t like how big and refined the newer models felt. Maybe a little bit better everyday driver but has lost some of the Porsche Motorsport sound and feel you want in an RS.
You get some great cars to review keep it up! Am I the only one who think the steering wheel on these really lets them down they look really cheap and plastic ?
997.1 RS is a favorite of mine. As to whether it’s worth it and whether you can get as much fun from something else, putting aside the sex appeal and whatever you want to make yourself believe (Metzger, hydraulic steering, blah blah etc etc), a 992 GTS with a manual transmission will drive better and be just as fun if not even more.
the difference between the 997.1 GT3RS and my 981 GT4 is envy.. I envy the dude with the RS Green GT3RS

Raise that car! The rubbing is ridiculous 😂
Agreed, but the tires may be too wide for the wheel well too.

For a long time this has been my favourite water cooled 911. Thanks for the review. Thoroughly enjoyed it 👍
insanely desirable car. Just needs the PCCM classic infotainment from Porsche
The only infotainment you need in this car is the sound of the Mezger engine and the total analog feel of the car.
@@freddysardinas1351 even if its only for the looks. The aftermarket unit that's installed in video ruins it a bit.

That green color is stunning good in 997 gt3 rs, I fall in love in that noise rev up to high end , god, it’s raw and awesome tune
