More specifically It is called a woodruff key. It fits into the slot keyway cut into the shaft and the keyway of the propeller bore. I wish people still could learn from middle school shop classes...it's a pet peeve of mine when people attempt to educate others with incorrect information.
A woodruff key is shaped like a half of a disc. ..it's a pet peeve of mine when people attempt to educate others with incorrect information... This is a square key.
No -way. Will never work on a prop that has been on the shaft for any length of time. 30 years of personal experience. They used a brand new, never installed prop with no corrosion or bonding as occurs in real life underwater.
Totally agree with this. 97 Ski Nautique with original prop, we beat on that puller for an hour until the puller was shaped like a mushroom. Prop never came off. Purchased a C clamp type puller and it came off in 3 minutes.
Wish I read your comment prior to ordering a cheapo harmonic puller on Amazon. Just tried on a Centurion with 100hrs, used the hammer as described, the prop does not budge whatsoever. It's time to order the C clamp puller...
The thing that fell on the ground is a 'key'. The slot that houses the key is a keyway. Much the same as a door goes in a doorway...
Great Video, The Harmonic Puller looks "Pretty Easy"
Can I use it on my etec outboard
