Not sure how much use this will be but for what it's worth.. I tried a number of delays over the years from mass market to small companies and didn't stick with any of them. I bought the Belle Epoch just after it became available and I still use and enjoy it. As for the Ep3 comparison, I can't really say as I've never used an original. Likewise for the Deluxe Memory Man though I did try the ordinary Memory Man and prefer the Belle Epoch. Bottom line is.. it's a top quality pedal that works for me and I'd certainly recommend trying it out. They're starting to turn up on eBay and if you can find one at a fair price you can try it out and sell it on at very little loss if you don't like it. One final thing. This is a fine demo and gives a really good idea of the sound and potential on offer.
@@orange-rv9ek Nope.. Death By Audio echo dream 2 for the last 5 years and it will stay there, can be difficult but dialled in it just sounds exactly as I want a delay to sound.
i have to admit this dude’s playing on these pedal demos has inspired me to part with a lot of money in recent years. Just bought this pedal too and it showed up today. about to plug it in and explore the Belle Epoch echo universe but surely gonna need to learn the same song he was playing to really make it feel right lol
I use to own one and it makes beautiful sounds! I sold it but not because I thought it was rubbish :) I now use an Earthquakers device SR which was the next step :)
Just got one and it's a great delay regardless of how it sounds in comparison to a real maestro e-p3. One piece of advice - open up the pedal and make use of the trim pot, it was only when I'd turned this to max that the pedal felt like it really came to life.
So, if you have it in True Bypass mode, you turn on the delay and you get a huge gain bump? I'm getting mine in a few days so I'm curious how everyone sets theirs. I too will be using mostly single-coils.
I tend to use delay most of the time even if the mix control is adjusted to give a practically effect free signal and deal with issues of gain by using the volume pot on the guitar. I just feel that with the example of the pedal that I've got, it sounded better with the trim pot right up whether the volume of the guitar is set high or low. I'd have to say that the internal trim pot is the one thing I'm not keen on with this pedal.
I am so excited about this pedal! However, one major function I wish it had would be to allow the preamp to still be on without engaging the delay. Hopefully that will be a version 2. Non the less, I want that pedal!!!
Taking into account the size of the footprint on the board, I'd say that this holds up to the El Capistan very well. Ultimately, the Timeline is the way to go.
slickcross Pedals, all of them, make you weak. However, in a single guitar player band, unless you're Tommy Emanuel, pedals can fill a void I suppose. I think I only object to them as being the entire body of a player's style/technique, and a players tone on everything they play. However I'm one that is debating if there is a need for a 2 channel guitar amp. There are so many options just using the guitar's volume control and pickup selector and my fingers playing it, plugged into a single channel amp with only a volume pedal. You can play delay/repeats without a pedal. A good reverb tank, or pedal is nice I admit. I'm not familiar with this brand. Do they make a reverb?
adam brown I.M.O. no piece of gear “makes you weak” unless you allow it to, opting to cover one’s weaknesses up rather than work past them... that said, to answer your question, Catalinbread does indeed make an astoundingly gorgeous plate-style reverb called the “Talisman”... I suggest you give it a shot- a pedal is just another sonic tool for the toolbox- they can allow for more expansive expression when used properly - and Catalinbread pedals truly are musical tools, practically instruments unto themselves that will only expand your sonic horizons if you allow them to. Enjoy!
If you have the "Mix Level" on zero, does it become a Preamp only pedal , that one could use as an "Always On Pedal"?. .I wonder how that would colour the sound?
Where would this be placed in a chain to make the best use of the pre amp but still do it's delay? Does it really matter or will it push other drive pedals whenever it's on?
Where is the video at 1:38 of Page with the echoplex from? It looks rad!!! I got an EP-3 myself and this is the only pedal I have ever heard come close to it.
Depends on what you want. This is a damn good recreation of an EP 3, but if you want more versatility like digital repeats, analog simulation and looping this is not for you. Either way I wouldn't recommend an alter ego, but that's my opinion.
Dead Kennedys! Hey PGS I love your videos, Andy's killing it as always. I was wondering if your team has some recommendations for pedals you sell that I could run on 18v, I've run out of 9v spots on my DC brick.
I was trying to convince myself not to spend money on this thing, but now I have to because of that. I need a buffered pedal somewhere in my before-amp signal chain AND I want a new delay.
I've one question, I already own the Diamond ML2 wich is a great sounding delay but in some situation the smooth repeat just doesn't works. For a complementary delay do you recommend the Echorec or the Belle Epoch they both sounding so great....
finally a dude who doesn't just play blues riffs in every demo
Hey thanks, I always wanted to play the most variety possible. Hope to see you on my current channel too ✌️
Andy
Amen, there are actually other genres a guitarist can play
@@simonsnavemost guitar players definitely dont play blues lmao
"Police Truck" by DK... you truly rule as the best & most versatile effects demo sultan in the arena!
This guy rules
Dude is the best who does pedal demos. His playing suits and reveals possibilities of every pedal. Also great playing technique.
Hey thanks for the kind words! Hope to see you on my current channel as well!
Andy
It does this in 'Buffered Mode". Just like the EP, you can take advantage of the preamp even when the delay is off! Thanks,
PGS
One of the best things about watching Andy play is freaking out at kind of obscure songs you love when he plays them.
Dang it, Andy. You always know how to QotSA riff a pedal right into my heart.
Not sure how much use this will be but for what it's worth..

How about 6 years later? Still on the board?

go go go East Bay Ray . . . great demo Andy.
Police truck! Reminds me of the first Tony Hawk on playstation 1. Good times!
i know right i will always cherish the memory of being 5 firing up that game and hearing police truck it warped my young mind
impossible to 5-0 grind, 360 flip out, off the ramp backflip to noseblunt slide playing as kareem campbell
@@artmartin9691 into a nose manu.... DOH!
Nobody can quite sell a pedal quite like Andy. Another mind blower.
The DK opening made me buy the pedal.
I always get a little happy whenever Andy plays QotSA. Lullabies To Paralyze is definitely one of my favourite albums.
I bought this pedal because of this video. I love it! Thanks Andy

I hate marketing, but i have to admit you guys are truly marketing artists, i want to have this pedal on my board right now!!!!
You should do a head to head with this and the Dunlop echoplex delay
The jam he played on the tele was wonderful
Nothing better than some East Bay Ray for a tape echo demo!
Got one today - stunning pedal IMO. Between the Belle Epoch and the Echorec, CB has made a believer out of me.
I thought it was the actual recording of Police Truck when the video started. Brilliant!
I use to own one and it makes beautiful sounds! I sold it but not because I thought it was rubbish :) I now use an Earthquakers device SR which was the next step :)
Not everyday a popular guitar gear review video starts out of "Police Truck".
Another great demo by Andy. This pedal is definitely on my want list.
DKs Police Truck - Best song ever!
The intro made me buy this pedal!
Holy shit, that's DK as fuck, nailed it.

+Tony Keyworth really?? ALL the way up??
PeterPug007 That's what I found using low output single coil pick ups but it's a matter of personal preference when all is said and done.

+Tony Keyworth or maybe just get an el capistan
If it's good enough for Eric Johnson to have three of them on his pedalboard it's good enough for me to have one.
Sold within 3 seconds.
Jimmy Page clip is off the No Quarter DVD. They're playing live in a market square in Morroco. Marrakesh I think.
It would be incredible to play Swamp Thing by The Chameleons with this thing (which I thought Andy was about to start playing at 6:30).
Holy cow! Somebody mentioned great music rather than the usual crap folks post! Love those first 3 Chameleons lps......
Chameleons
Fuck yes, a lot of this.
Great band . He used a space echo a lot
My kids band actually opened for Mark Burgess this year
Was researching this pedal on TH-cam and I stumbled over Andy riffing Dead Kennedys. Sold!
I have the C-bread Echorec and now they go and release this gem. Guess I'll have to get it too. Nice demo as usual, Andy.
you rule. everything you play, it plays amazing
Before you buy this pedal, ask yourself "Will I burn in hell?, then write it down and cast it in the well.
i stumbled upon this looking at the belle epoch just now and get Dead Kennedy's!!!! amazing
That is just music to my ears!!!!!!! Thanks for the response!
Intro of the best punk rock song ever! You rock!
A good delay unit is basically magic in a box. Doubly so when someone like Andy plays it. :)
Best delay pedal EVER! Tried all the rest.
omg police truck right at the start!!! wow. that got me
Wonderful playing!
Police truck by dk such a good song and amazing band

07:58 that was awesome.
Sounds Like Scorpions Lonesome Crow album around 4:40 ish -pure awesomeness.
I'd really like to see a demo on the Ibanez echo shifter.

Wow, I'm going to go play THPS 1 now, best intro !
Absolutely awesome playing!!!!!!!!!!
Seems like something Ler Lalonde would like.
+RudeDudeVooDoo I think so too....but I saw a rig rundown revealing he sports a bunch of carbon copies....not bad either
Andy, the best reviewer all time
Interesting pedal. Great demo, Andy, as usual. I think I want this box.
andy is my favorite pedal reviewer
Dead kennedys 😍 such an underrated band
Underrated? Hahah
i cant's say i've ever heard anyone rate them
I have this and there Echorec, no pedal board should be without them.
Greatest...Channel...Ever
DK for the win!
This pedal is sick -
That Tele sounds heavenly
Punk Andy = best Andy! 🤘
tonight's the night when we got the truck, were going downtown gonna be all struck
I think you can adjust the mix knob to allow for that. I'll be finding out tomorrow!
Hit the sweet spot.
That thing sounds AWESOME!!! I wish it didn't have a red L.E.D. though, Thode are really hard to see at a sunny daytime gig....
Killer DK demo!!! 😲
100% pure awesomeness
What is the band/song/style that Andy starts playing at 2:18?
Awesome.
HMM I need one of these, I have their version of the echorec which I love, but one can't have too many delays correct?
Burn The Witcth!!! these chords are tits! By Billy Gibbons and Josh Homme. Well played!
What is the song starting @ 2:20? On the Tele?
Sounds like film music from '60s or '70s. Awesome!
- I MUST KNOW! ;) You're brilliant Andy!
+xenod1066 -Song @ 2:20? Anybody have a clue? If we shouldn't say out loud, maybe you could P.M. me? ;)
- Or is it just Andy?

What is the Orange guitar he plays on the Dead Kennedy's song? Want.
Its made by the company "Reverend". Really nice affordable guitars.
Mark Riley is this the same Mark Riley from The Fall and The Creepers?

That modulated sound sounds so "Don't Leave Me Now" a'la Pink Floyd
This would sound amazing with some reverb and some low overdrive, would sound a lot like the lead in Shoegaze songs
WOW! That's cool
Andy's been listening to Police Truck. Should we be worried?
QOTSA for the win
ROCK ON
havnt played the deluxe but deciding between this and that one. also the wampler faux tape

You can choose either via the internal True Bypass/Trails mode switch!
