I so happy anime is collabing with respected designers. It still baffles me how it’s somewhat accepted in the mainstream. I still have a habit of being embarrassed when someone asks.
So many anime properties that could translate well on the runway. I’m talkin reinterpreted Meiji era Rurouni Kenshin pieces or modern militaristic garb Attack on Titan vibes that dont dance on the cosplay end of reproduction. The DBZ franchise is almost made for vinyl print tees so I’m not mad about that, but youre right that Akira x Supreme wasn’t even baked enough to be called half-assed. Theres a recent viral video of a guy missing a basketball shot on a custom rim thats like 5 ft wide in diameter. That’s most Supreme collabs.
The Raf Simons parody brand, Rough Simmons, does anime in fashion right. While at its base it is classic Raf designs, Rough doesn’t half ass their products by any means.
The puffers are pretty cool but those plug suit garments and gloves really did it for me. The pants are dope too the fact they're done with the lines from the EVA's legs.
I am still a bigger fan of the Ground Y collections but this new Undercoverstuff is nice. I remember when I first saw the Ground Y x Ghost in the Shell collab, that was sick and I wish I lived in Japan/knew a proxy to get some of the pieces!
Although this collection just amazed me, and Jun never disappoints, i've heard there is a new Evangelion movie entering Japanese' cinemas, so I wondered Reggie, to what extent these two events (Jun's collection and the release of the new film) are correlated ? Is it a new marketing strategy in the fashion industry ? have we already seen something like that before ?
@@THECASUALco Yeah I'm not surprised, japanese's marketing never misses such an occasion. So I'm definitely curious to see what's gonna happen with the announced new Slam Dunk movie !
The series had a disappointing end, but I loved the fashion in Bleach. If there were a collab between Shueisha/Weekly Shonen Jump and [brand], heck get Tite Kubo directly involved and there's a good chance it would sell.
What about 20471120’s take on evangelion from spring summer 1998, I’m seeing a lot of people drawing comparisons to this collection because they’re both Eva themed and I’ve noticed there’s two camps right now, one that’s head over heels for this recent undercover collection and another that hates it
You will properly not see this but what about Glamb they make a lot of collabs with things like Chainsaw Man or Jujutsu Kaisen and it's not just printed things for example look at the Fushiguro Megumi Reversible Bomberjacket it looks amazing and unique.
I prefer the first aw21 collection he did, the one with no runway show, to this evangelion collaboration. However, I can still admire the work he put into it, some of the items are really good! That women's show though! The details on all of the looks were insane. This is one of his best work as far as womenswear goes.
those puffer jackets fullfilled a void i had in my heart. Seriously, i die inside everytime i enter a Bershka waiting to see the new anime collab and all they do is sweatpants and sweatshirts with ugly prints. I know it is a Bershka but hey, you can do so much better with the sailor moon/ evangelion/ cardcaptor sakura collabs and yet they did that? (if you didn't see them just search AOT x Bershka and you will know what i am refering to)
Some day we'll get a gaming oriented collab this good, I don't care about anime at all so I'm just patiently waiting for gaming collabs to not be almost entirely garbage cringey prints or children's shoes.
When I see graphTs that I could maybe do for myself at online print retailers ... I'm always left disappointed .. this collection though ... "This is the way." 😎
As much as i love both of them, i feel it's a bit of an odd collab... Not exactly bad but also not extremely dope... I have mixed feelings i can't quite explain it....
Literally wouldn't be caught dead wearing anything from that collection; I'm a huge Eva fan but not enough to look like a clown with line drawn animation on my jacket. Anime merch will never be good (except the New Balance collab)
Love Evangelion but these are a hard pass for me lol. I'll be forever sad for not getting the Sneaking boots from MGS though, those looked totally BADASS
It’s older and in fact is far more in tune with Japanese story telling mechanics which is why it gained such a cult following. It then blew up into something else out west when people realized it was absolutely nuts in Japan. When that happened it gained massive popularity as more a symbol of in depth storytelling and amazing animation (at the time).
@@THECASUALco I will concede and say they had me hooked in the first 7 episodes, especially with the overwhelming feeling of isolation through the artwork, and those moments of slow yet rewarding character growth, specifically shinji and his father; Misato internally. But boy after those seven episodes the formula got old. For me anyways, none the less it could be a consequence of time, i wasn't even alive when it first aired. and i saw Pacific Rim ( Del toro) before i had seen the show

we live in crazy times
can’t wait to pay insane prices for some of these pieces
Slap an nft on it call it an investment piece
I don’t think I ever wanted something so bad
I feel you brother, i feel you...
@@xxxx-rn3yu this aged so bad
I would love to see something like a WTAPS and Attack on Titan Collab.
Imagine a Perfect Blue x Neighborhood collab
@@Goopsandwich89 Or even a Wacko Maria and Cowboy Bebop collab.
Yes🙏 please

the black, green, and purple puffer is heat
The puffers are pretty cool but those plug suit garments and gloves really did it for me. The pants are dope too the fact they're done with the lines from the EVA's legs.
You should do a video about the JoJo x Gucci collab
Thanks for also bringing up UC woman collection! Jun's woman collection is always underrated.
As a fan of techwear who got into from anime like Eva this is really exciting other than the fact I'll be too broke for it
wait for sals or wholesale websites and depops etc.
Right up my street! Excellent video. And you're right-haven't seen/watched Evangelion but those jackets are dope!
The first background beat at the beginning of the video is soo damn sick!
Waiting for that Y3 x ninja scroll, bape x kill la kill, supreme x attack on titan, acronym x ghost in the shell collabos...😋😄
why hasn’t acronym done a ghost in the shell collab yet 🤯
@@waitingunsaved5055 right...🤨
there are acronym pieces that are akira inspired. hard to get, i tell you.
I love Eva and I loved the show, might try to get a piece from the collection.
The puffers are so good 😫😫😫😫
Awesome video
The quality of it all 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love it !!! The bloody geekers T-shirt are so dope❤️🔥💣
Weird, I just finished the show and film yesterday, with it quickly become one of my favorite things ever. Then you post this, good coincidence
New intro eh? Keeping up to those quality of life changes, much appreciated!
finally was lookin for some evangelion clothes
These puffer jackets are amazing, need one
Love it! Especially the amount of sophistication, its on a whole other level! So i hope Reggie is right, and we’ll see more of this.
Hyped!
I am still a bigger fan of the Ground Y collections but this new Undercoverstuff is nice. I remember when I first saw the Ground Y x Ghost in the Shell collab, that was sick and I wish I lived in Japan/knew a proxy to get some of the pieces!
beauty:beast x serial experiments lain ... imagine omg
Jun has been on another level this year
The overcoats look so cool!
well, i guess ill just have to sell one of my kidneys then
Was hoping you’d make a vid on this, such an interesting collab👍
ULTRA POG! 🔥
So dope.
Does anyone know when this collection is expected to release or no info yet?
The only anime I like is fist of the North Star, but those puffers are still dope.
Sad that I can’t fit into any of this :(
Akira bomber jacket, make it happen Jun.

Absolutely correlated but this is quite common in Japan.

Came here to listen to the Maji track 🎵🔥
This is just insane
it’s already available ?
Where can I get any of these pieces
Undercover took us to the next level...
its so satisfying to hear "japanese animation fashion collaboration"
Reggie flexing that Yohji-Supreme tee!! Goes hard
How do I buy if I live in u.s (nyc) ????
Fire intro!
Can I get a link to see these?
No
🤣
for aw98 20471120 did clothing inspired by evangelion, something to look into

That women's show though!

Number (n)ine did a sick collab with Golden Wind a couple years back. I would pay a high price for the Bucciarati tee 😩
I would LOVE to continue to see these collabs in the future. Move over, Coach x Naruto, THIS is the future of where nerd culture and fashion collide.
Yay
Gantz would be lit 😎
Homeboy didnt even talk about the JOJO x GUCCI collab from 06' smh bro
boooooo! Lol. Nah you're right.
Collection crazy n i never heard of the show until now
Yohji’s more recent collab with Junji Ito was also very interesting.

I found the anime extremely boring, and trust me i watched all 22 episodes in Sub, but this collab is anything but that.
