17:38 Villeneuve's 1999 season in a nutshell. Villeneuve's 1999 statistics: Total Races participated: 16 Total Race DNFs: 12 (including 11 DNFs in the first 11 races!) Points: 0 (for the only time in his F1 career in a full season!) Best race finish: 8th in Monza 1999 was truly the year the 1997 world champion's F1 career went into a terminal decline. If he stayed at Williams in 1999, he might have had the opportunity to fight for more race wins, even find himself back in a front running car again, and win the title again. But he took the (I'm pretty sure regretful) decision to race for the new BAR Team, formerly known as Tyrrell. The team was actually effectively built around him. But it was his choice, and we can't change his past.
Stellar defense from Ralf by holding quicker Jordans for 3rd position. Also it's only race where Damon was somewhat matching Frentzen pace in 1999. And Mika's loose wheel nut was perfectly describing by just how incompetent Mclaren were during the whole season as they managed to lose to Ferrari despite having quicker car for most races.
I did like Barrichello's move on Hill just after 21:02 and it's a shame he lost 5th place to a puncture a while later. It's still mad to think that Irvine won the next two races to put himself right into play for the title, despite signing for Jaguar shortly after this race (following Rubens being announced as his replacement at Ferrari).
