I remember watching at the time, I’d only been watching a few years at this point so was a tad disappointed it wasn’t always this crazy a race in the years to follow. Was unbelievable start to finish
Being an Irish Jordan fanatic, I actually cried after this race, I remember wondering if I'd ever see the team win, but winning one of the most dramatic and memorable races in F1 history with a 1-2 after an awful start to the season was incredible. Thanks Eddie Jordan for having the balls to go for it back in 1991 and make this day in 1998 possible. There can be fewer more popular wins. Thanks for posting, I stayed up well past my bedtime to relive this :)

I'm pretty sure this is the greatest F1 race I've ever seen, and was probably the craziest day in the lives of many participants, most especially David Coulthard. Special congratulations to fifth place man (and highest Bridgestone runner) Pedro Diniz!
This race was pure madness. I'm so glad I saw this race on F1TV after the 2021 disaster "race" because this is the race that got me more into F1 as an American race fan; the sound of the V10 engines, the unpredictable result of an underdog team with underdog drivers winning the race, or even a driver with THE WORST car in terms of aero performance and in power scores points because everybody else got knocked out one way or another. If there's a podium for THE BEST F1 races ever; this one 1998 Belgium, 1996 Monaco, and 1999 Nurburgring would make it up.
Even so many years later, I can still feel how devastated I was when Schumacher retired. Unpopular opinion: For me, the F300 is the most beautiful F1 Ferrari ever. Pure beauty. ❤
I remember this season Winfield Tobacco sponsored Williams F1. At that time Tobacco advertising was banned in Australia and Winfield found a clause in sponsoring an Overseas team. This came apparent and raised contention because of Australian F1 GP in Melbourne
One thing that stuck out to me back then and now was how many times MW kept referring to Damon as the 1994 world champ, and I think that MB was just too kind not to correct Murray.
Was 1998 when all the cars adopted this shark-nose design? What was the impetus to change from the low-nose? Was it a change in regulations or an inherent advantage?
In 1994 Benetton had the high nose, but Williams and others still had the low nose. In 1995 others copied Benetton, because they were winning I suppose.
IKR. I saw this on F1TV in 2021 to replace that disasterous "race" from that year and it was well worth it because this is the race that got me more into F1 as an American race fan; the sound of the V10 engines, the unpredictable results of underdog teams with underdog drivers winning the race or even a driver in THE WORST car in terms of aero performance and in power scoring points because everybody else got knocked out one way or another.

Very amusing to hear Martin Brundle talking about how he felt a standing start was safe and appropriate when you know what's coming :D
