Ah yes, the early days of onboard cameras... They only had 2 of them, and drivers would volunteer to have it on their cars, the front runners very rarely did. The cameras usually ended up on midfield or backmarker cars and I remember some races where both camera cars were taken out by lap 1 incidents or very early mechanical failures so no onboard footage for the whole race. It wasn't until the mid 1990s when it became mandatory for all cars to have cameras on them, and they experimented with some very unusual angles, like mounting on the rear wing facing backwards, on the side of the nose cone etc... I kinda miss the over-the-shoulder view, the cameras are all on top of the cars now...
Fera Kimi deveria ter nascido 10 anos antes teria sido 7 vezes champion
Tru f1
I would like to see races of 2000 and 1990 years... do you have some? Great stuff btw

And the Britts hated Shumi just the same as Max.. Max is close enough to Germany, to be as bad as Shumi.. Dangerous, Crazy, Cheater. Now, no britt remember
What a cool intro/pre-race
Love this.. Crazy to see how exposed the drivers were
There is a square in the top right corner. I'm curious if it's transmitting some extra info embedded in the stream? And what kind of information.
I don't see it. Timestamp?
The hidden best part of this is the lack of commentary when they go to commercial but the producers are still filming the race, and so you get a few minutes of awesome shots of the cars and just the sounds of the race. It happens at least half a dozen times. Great race.
oh my goooooooooooooood the tips from the famous people!!!!! most of these guys are long gone! *wipes away a tear*
wow this footage is great. and the memories man.... i remember my heart being broken wide open at the end of this race. our nige. our niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiige....

Agree with John.
1:25 who the h is gene
Marc Gene. Drove for Minardi, Williams backup, and was Ferrari's third driver for countless years alongside Badoer....
Kimi has absolutely no fear
Such great racing back then, but I will say this, I am so glad that F1 took control of the cameras themselves in later years.
1999: 1:19:298 2024: 1:12:000 in qua, but the from 1999 looks faster despite the time difference. I miss the good old F1 days and also miss the sound from these engines ☺️🏎️
I lobe watching these clips from early 2000s - especially the track limits :D
how kimi had a battle with other drivers make me impressed. also his driving style.
I was there
Almost a worst ferrari vs peak williams
Kimi at McLaren was one of the fastest drivers in F1 history. He was no longer the same driver at Ferrari. For whatever reason.
Back when F1 wasn't strangled by environmental concerns - clouds of unburnt special brew fuel out the exhaust under acceleration - 2 lap 1000hp+ qualifying 'grenade' engines and a proper gearlever and clutch.
what documentary is this??
F1 died bout 2009..
Love old format qualified than now...love it the iceman
