I am a Catholic, discerning Orthodoxy and this was very helpful. Papal supremacy and infallibility are questionable historically but it is the dogmatic approach by Rome which has caused me, personally, to struggle. Not willingly attending Mass just once will consign me to hell, my questioning Original Sin versus Ancestral Sin, my not believing in some Marian dogmas (despite honouring Our Blessed Mother) and not believing in Purgatory with all its punitive terrors, despite no solid Biblical evidence - all will have me damned and have left me feeling very uneasy. Not once, for nearly 70 years, has my deep and abiding faith/trust in Christ ever deserted me. I feel I have almost been in an abusive relationship but have been too scared to leave. When attending Divine Liturgy and speaking with my local Orthodox Priest, I have felt none of this. I continue to read books on the Orthodox faith and attend my local Russian Orthodox Church. Perhaps next year.... God willing.
May God bless you. ❤️☦️
may He guide you ☦️
It is my sincere hope and belief that many faithful Catholics that love Christ and His Church will leave to find the Church they’ve always been looking for and desired to be joined to in the Orthodox Catholic Church.
As a former Catholic come Home 🙏🏻☦️
Truth is setting you free. I grew up Catholic, and similar ways I felt I couldn't question, but just obey "in faith" to be part of that church...I couldn't and eventually went more Protestant around 18/19yrs old for several years before converting to Orthodoxy 4 yrs ago now officially. 70+yrs of not wavering from Christ, that's amazing! I'm 38, and still marching forward in my commitment to to Christ as well. Sounds like you're on the right path, and I'd encourage you to keep speaking to that Orthodox priest, and welcome ❤.
For me, a pre Vat II former Catholic, this all makes sense. When VatII came out, it was as though they said, “Remember all that stuff we taught you? Well, forget it!”
Fortunately for me, I had a teacher in grammar school who taught us about the Orthodox Church. It took me until 2012 to get there, but God led me there!
Hi Father S. we met at GOC Assumption in Poc. God bless, and thank you, for your testimony and response.

My family was just received into the Orthodox Christian Church. We were Baptized together, my disabled husband, my 8 year old son and myself into the Romanian Orthodox Christian Church of North America. St. Nicholas is our families Patron Saint.
The Church Father has decided to be our spiritual Father, while his wife is to be my God mother.
Maybe it's because we have no family (only our mothers and one sibling who all live hours away).
This was after 3 years of attending Divine Liturgy at another Orthodox Church with my son on and off, with my husband only coming occasionally due to his back pain/mobility. Very very strict attendance standards.
My good friend goes to both Churches, and kept inviting me to a different Romanian Orthodox Christian Church. I finally went and after 3 weeks the Church Father wanted to Baptize us as a family! I know most of the Divine Liturgy, can recite the Creed, make the Cross.
Anyways.....
After so long i was crying with Joy. I was starting to think i would die without any Sacraments, or a Guardian Angel.
I am so envious. I am a Uniate Catholic and I greatly desire to become Orthodox and bring my wife and three children into the fullness of faith. But my wife violently opposes our conversion to Orthodoxy. It has driven a wedge between us in our marriage and it is negatively impacting the faith of our children. I am trapped in the Uniate faith. If I try to become Orthodox she threatens me with divorce. I am in desperate need of prayers. Prayers for the softening of her heart to Holy Orthodoxy and for the conversion of my entire family. Lord have mercy on me, a sinner. St Alexis Toth, pray for us!
@@JustADudeOnTheInternetSoChillHonestly I will be frank with you, theres no one on the internet that can give the perfect advice. My 2 cents is to analyze the root cause(es) why she opposes it and prepare arguments with a priest maybe, otherwise get help from someone offline, a priest, friend, relative, etc.
Also what do you mean she violently opposes it? This implies she threatened or hurt you physically.
If all fail the bite the bullet and divorce her, she has no right to dictate your faith or your children's.
Hi, im romanian so your comment piqued my interest, can you elaborate on the romanian orthodox church there?

Gracias Padrecito. Lo desfruté mucho.
Слава Господу и хвала на свему! God bless you for this wonderful video...perfect for the west to come back to the True Church and Body of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ!
The pope was the reason I went to Orthodoxy over Catholicism to begin with. There's been way too many awful takes by popes for me to ever consider him infallible, especially now that the current one has tried to bless same sex couples and even just flat out said that every religion leads to God. Fortunately with how much Orthodoxy is growing it seems like plenty of other people had a similar experience. With how many Roman Catholics I've seen talk about what a disgrace the current pope is (yet remain RC for... some reason) I'm sure there will be plenty more in the future.
I really look forward to watching the whole video. I've read a lot about Orthodoxy, and a smattering of some of the early fathers' writings on the role of the Bishop of Rome in the early centuries. I'm a Roman Catholic who is now questioning the idea of "papal supremacy" and Rome's claim of "universal jurisdiction." I find myself aligning more with the Orthodox position. I've attended a Serbian Orthodox Church off and on for the last 4 months. May God direct our steps to the Truth.
You're doing better than I did when I first came to Orthodoxy. It took me about a year after my first visit to an Orthodox church to be ready to go back! It's a big step to switch from one church to another, new things to get used to and breaking out of your comfort zone, but it sounds like you're starting to get more comfortable with it.
RCs seem to be only focused on defending the pope from what I've seen. While the pope is not focused on defending the faith. Sad.
Its like an abusive relationship
The issue of papal supremacy is so low on the list for me in discerning between the two churches which both claim to be the one true church. So is Mariology, and the fillioque. The fact is, the way these two churches view and practice the faith is radically different, and if you read enough of the fathers and early saints, it’s clear that the Orthodox Church has kept the true faith, and the Roman Catholic Church has not.
God bless Archimandrite Seraphim Johns. A wonderful spiritual father and soldier of Christ
The biggest problem with the Romans is that they deny Theosis. I've seen Romans and Orthodox dance around this issue. Papal Primacy is much less of an issue.
False. The biggest probably with us Romans is we don’t t yeet you all back to Romania.
That’s not true. Catholics are S tier and Orthodox are F tier
@@traviswilson36 lol

The title of "pope" was held by the Patriarch of Alexandria even before the Bishop of Rome. At one historical moment, the Patriarchate of Alexandria was on the 1st place in the diptych of the ancient "pentarchy" (Jerusalem, Roman, Constantinople, Alexandria, Patriarchate of Antioch). Later, the pretensions of the bishops of Rome and Constantinople came (although it was more the intention of the then emperors to make Constantinople the first city in the Byzantine Empire compared to Rome, which was before that) about the championship. In the end, it was concluded that it did not matter who was first (because Christ says that we should not fight to be the main one), but unfortunately the Roman bishop did not understand that and caused a schism.
No the "popes" knew full well what they were doing, they are evil.
Also not byzantine but roman, "byzantine" empire never existed.
What was the title of the book regarding the papacy? I'm apprehensive over converting out of fear of being in schism as well, even though I am slowly coming to the conclusion that Rome was indeed the cause of the separation.
If you want a good book discussing the papacy I recommend “The Burden of Perfection” the pope is a godly man.

Yes, it is Eastern Orthodox.
Eastern Orthodox - not tied to one particular jurisdiction/Patriarchate.
music is over, the party is done, hahaha...what a likable man.
What was the book on the Papacy called?
Can you repeat the name of the book of the 19 century catholic priest who converted to orthodoxy?
The Papacy by Abbe Guettee
No. Nope. Never.
Yes. 07
I was all in to orthodoxy until I learned of the sporadic view on toll houses
Explain more I don't understand?
That is certainly not a hill worth dying on. The Orthodox, more than any other, preserve the historic Christian faith and practice.
Follow Christ and take comfort in knowing the Lord wants you to be saved more than you do. We don’t go to hell on technicalities. Peace! ❤️☦️
The difference in scale here is kinda perplexing, if you compare the papacy to toll houses…
Toll houses are allegorical and you are not required to believe in them because death, is a mystery. Whereas in the Catholic Church, Purgatory is a dogma and if you don't believe in it, it is a mortal sin that will condemn you to hell, despite no solid Biblical evidence.
I just don't see how the hierarchy of heaven wouldn't be reflected on Earth. A Pope of the Catholic Church makes more sense than 27 popes.
Why can't you see it? Just look at the first 1000 years of Christianity. And how the Orthodox Church has maintained the apostolic deposit.
@@DCWoodWorking in the first thousand years the church was one-ish
@@LoafingMushroomyes exactly and without a super bishop that was the head of the church and confirming all bishops. This has been admitted by the Roman Church in the chieti and Alexandria documents.

Matthew 16:19 Jesus talking to St. Peter "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." So, listen to the Pope.
He gave it to all of Jesus Christ disciples. Powers to loosen and bind. Patriarch was supposed to be equal, with Pope, first amongst equals.
