Rudy is being a biased stock holder. If they locked prices lower, they don't need to go out and raise prices at the first chance they get. They are also locked in for that period of time. They do because it's free money.
That is not a market dynamic, it's squeeze your customer because you can.

@@shieldtablet942 That has always been my argument...You can't have it both ways. If you aren't locked in, it makes sense to raise prices as the price goes up, but prices should be dropping as soon as the price drops. If you are locked in at a price, it makes sense that you can't lower your price if it goes down, but there is no reason for your price to go up as it goes up.
The only issue I see with the price being locked, is that if the gas stations did the "proper" thing and kept prices static through the month, there would be whole months of no one buying gas. If you saw that the price went up through the month, you would fill a bunch of cans towards the end of the month to get the lower price. The next month you would try to live off of that gas hoping that it would go down. If it went up again, you could try to stock up a months worth of gas again, knowing that it would be cheaper than the station would sell it for the next month.

My new investment vehicle is...vehicles lmao. But I run a large scale repair and body shop so the risk is minimal. I have purchased 2 dozen cars from various sources and my net profit in 2022 so far has been $109K.
My outlay was around 10 to 15K per car all in. Buying and repair. Now two of those were rare hobbyist cars that yielded half my profits. But that's still 3K average on the other cars. Fuck banks and paper wealth schemes.

Rudy - Oil companies always talk about being locked into higher prices but NEVER is it discussed, or does the price at the pump reflect when companies lock into lower prices. Instead oil companies cry supply chain issues, California (Where I live) clean air standards all the while posting record profits.
Locked in rates work both ways. Prices at the pump don't.

They're locked in at gas prices, so the greedy part is raising prices as soon as the price goes up. That has always been my argument. If you can't lower your prices because you locked in at a high price on what you're selling, then raising the price as the price of gas goes up means you are making extra profits over the price you locked in at.

He announced that he sensed that we had reached the bottom of the bear market a few weeks ago though. This weird recession is still going strong. Real trouble may be barely starting for the housing market and for banks. Then there's China being a mess. And the war in Ukraine not doing anyone (the Ukrainian people especially) any favors. The market for collectibles could still get worse before it gets better.
