tyler once said that "love is a scary thing. it's trusting someone with everything that you have and they could decide to crush it at any moment", your reaction was so spot on!
Wow, what a great breakdown. This made me realize you never reacted to Tear In My Heart! Tyler comes back to the heart metaphor, and his wife stars in the music video! I'm really surprised because it's one of the first songs most people hear when they first get into the band, since it has a music video and everything.
Omg I can't! I'm really addicted to your TØP videos. Can't wait to see your reaction to Lovely and all of their songs. Please keep like this, you are doing an amazing work!
You did it again - first I’ve seen to think exactly what I think for this song!!! I love this song and it is so exactly real. I feel there are four songs that tell the story of falling for someone - one for each album 1. Air catcher- that start to letting feelings start for someone 2. Screen- when your opening up to that person & letting your true self open up to them, your still unsure & scared to show them 3. Year in my heart- when that person has finally broken through into your heart you’ve been protecting so much and you now accept it &4. Smithereens- finally deep in love and know you’d do anything to protect that one person who holds your heart. I love Tyler’s way of being ‘romantic’ it’s so real. ** you will never pick a favourite song or album, you’ll give yourself an aneurism trying 😂😂
you should listen to the alternate version of this song, his voice is a lot more isolated and it sounds so good (there's also violins and it's beautiful)
I'm so happy to hear that you really liked this song, which is one of my absolute favourite songs ever. I feel like it's underrated, because it doesn't get mentioned that often, but that's OK, I love it though. I also love the beat and the vibe, but even more the lyrics and the meaning behind the words. Tyler is my favourite poet ever, he's a rare wordsmith. The way he uses words to say simple things in the most complicated way, you just gotta love that. He doesn't just say I love you, but I'm here to give you words as tools that can destroy my heart. As I said before, this song was my most streamed song on Spotify in both 2019 AND 2020, it's just amazing and means so much to me. Hey, Thankfully you DON'T have to pick a favourite album😊 I could never do that, because my favourite songs come from all the different albums. It's really hard to pick favourites, since they have so many incredible songs. I once tried to name my TØP 10, but it just became my TØP 40. But I once managed to put up my favourite 15 songs, by the eliminating method.
I think that is the most perfect way to describe him, he uses words to say simple things in the most complicated way. Thereby causing you to think and see the same phrase through a different perspective.
Very wise words, a relationship with someone is best when you least expect it, happy to be with yourself and then that special person just wonders in... 💙❤️💛
It's been a while since I've watched one of your videos and I'm verly slowly catching to all the NF and tøp songs I've missed, but I just wanted to say that your explanation of this song has given me a new perspective on it. I could never really grasp the idea of the song for whatever reason, but now it makes sense and is way deeper than I originally thought, so thanks 😂👏
Something cool to ponder, IMHO. Towards the end of your reaction you stated that it is going to be hard to pick a favorite album. What an AWESOME dilemma to have! The idea that there is at least one songwriter/band out there creating CONSISTENTLY GOOD material in a way that perhaps eliminates the need to even choose a favorite. I have often said that my favorite Twenty One Pilots' song is the one currently playing. There's no reason that that idea cannot be applied to an entire album! Hope you have an awesome Christmas and I am looking forward to more in 2021 - The Year of the Pilots, LOL. And, as so many are saying below, consider Tear in My Heart as the follow-up. Cheers.
LMAO i absolutely loved this reaction. every thought of yours i was screaming “yes! exactly!” at the screen. this song is just-no words. it’s indescribable in the sense where when you first hear it you have no words but you feel everything. and i loved that entire segment with the infatuation vs love talk!!! also the whole “okay with being alone thing”, i totally agree with that. if you’re not that’s when you become too dependent, from personal experience. it’s different for everyone but there’s such a nuance to it, you know? i love tyler’s way with words, just beautiful poetry that transcends lyricism. thank you so much for this reaction, i’m glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, you really understand twenty one pilots! Every one of their songs (and you've done so many), you grasp the lyrics so clearly. And so quickly too. For me (and I've read others say this same thing) their songs typically take a few listen throughs to catch on. Great reaction, as always 🙃...
Great reaction! I love all of their albums, but this is my favorite. It's so beautiful! If you haven't already, please react to Taxi Cab. It's so good. They performed it at my first TØP concert in 2018. I cried thru the whole song.
This is one of my favorites. Very early Coldplay. Listen to the intro of Politik and this. I have two lines of this tattooed on me, "I won't fall in love with falling, I will try to avoid those eyes". And yes this is a song about falling in love and the danger that can bring, but as an Ace, who doesn't experience those things, I use those lines and this song as a different metaphor. It can also be interpreted as a warning to not fall in love with the act of falling. And you can interpret the falling to almost anything. For me it's the falling into depression. I know that I am most creative when I'm in a depressed state, so there is this lure and yearning to fall into it and let it take me so that I can be creative. But it is dangerous. So I use it as a cautionary warning. Depression will always be a part of me and my life, but I will not "fall in love" with the fall into depression.
I have been seeing all your reactions of twenty one pilots and I love them, thank you very much for trying to understand them, I recommend you the Trapdoor and Friend Please of twenty one pilots too, these songs have very strong lyrics and I think you should check it out
this song is from their self titled album (2009) so josh wasn't part of the band yet. and two years later they released an alternative version from this song, whis is amazing. i think you should check this out! :)
First time I’ve found your vids. Excellent analysis! Love your in depth thinking of this. Definitely subbed. Bout to watch a bunch of your vids 😂😂. Annnnd you brought up NF too. Sooo yup!! Off on the suffi journey! 😂
Bro, you are so good at articulating what you wanna say, and every time you expressed how much you liked the sound of the song, I was right there with you, wish more music was made with such passion and emotion like TOP songs have. Great review!
Absolutely love your reaction videos bro. You need to react to Angelina Jordan ASAP she’s one of the best on the planet and only 14 years old. She just released her debut single and did an acoustic version which is insane it’s called “million miles” th-cam.com/video/3KxvwuZ7oEM/w-d-xo.html
