Hey everyone! Thanks so much for watching. I've got the trilogy already recorded and will be dropping soon. I've not done research on these songs so themes like Blurryface and Dema that has been mentioned I am just now learning about as I take these songs and videos at face value and see what I can glean from them. Thank you for all your support and explanations as I experience this journey :) More will be coming soon!
Yes, in the top fandom, there’s a character called Blurryface which is the embodiment of Tyler’s insecurity and doubts and “bad” thoughts. So Blurryface was driving the car here
DUDE you are totally killin' the analysis on these songs. I love, love, love seeing people's reactions to Twenty One Pilots. To see people find out that they are the phenomenal band that they are just tickles me to death. Thank you for doing these reactions you're awesome!
another solid breakdown! Before heading into the next 3 videos, i'd suggest doing a little research on the city of Dema, otherwise you might be lost in the videos/lyrics Heavydirtysoul is kind of the bridge between this album (Blurryface) and their following album (Trench) - the next 3 songs are all from trench - trench is a conceptual album based around the city of Dema - they also took a 3 year hiatus between the two albums, so that is referenced a bit throughout Trench Blurryface is somewhat conceptual as a lot of the album is Tyler battling "Blurryface" which is the personification of his fears/insecurities/depression/etc - (also the "person" driving the car in this video) - you can see Tyler also represent Blurryface by painting his hands and neck in this video, signifying him trying to cover up his insecurities with what he uses to make his music (voice and writing) In a nutshell, the city of Dema is a mythological city Tyler created that represents being trapped inside your negative thoughts - so the goal would be to conquer your thoughts and escape the city - the city is guarded by 9 bishops (Nico and the Niners) and their goal is to keep you trapped inside your thoughts to the point that you take your life (Neon Gravestones) - there are vulchers all around the city waiting for the people who commit suicide (also the picture on the cover of the album Trench) - colors are very meaningful in this world - the bishops wear the color red and the Banditos (or rebels who are trying to escape) are covered in yellow - yellow being a symbol of hope in this world - Trench (album title) would be the area you would escape to from Dema that's a very sparknotes version of Dema, Tyler created journals, a website, photographs, etc explaining the world that he leaked out prior to the release of the album - i'd just do a quick google search and spend 10-15 minutes just reading a bit about it and the videos/lyrics will make a lot more sense to you - most of the lyrics are applicable in both the real world and the city of Dema, but some of the lyrics only apply to the storyline and you may be lost without at least a little bit of understanding hope that helps!
Eric, thank you very much for the explanation. To be totally honest I have already recorded the videos to the other songs, I did not realize they were ones that would require some research and backstory and I also did not want to "cheat" by researching them before hand and so I just went in to them unknowingly. This explanation makes a ton of sense now that I have seen the videos, as I was very lost and confused as to what was going on. I hope the videos will still be entertaining even though I am thoroughly lost throughout the duration. They are currently waiting in a dispute before they can be released. Thank you for your comment though! Definitely helped piece things together
@@SuffiReax ah ok! i wouldn't consider doing the research beforehand cheating - Tyler released all that stuff to his fans so they would understand the videos you basically tried to build a house without blueprints lol - i'm sure you still picked up on some of it, but doing the research before makes everything so much clearer and gives you a chance to interpret also a lot of the fans get excited and want reactors to do the trilogy before they really understand twenty one pilots - so not your fault for diving in
I feel like I'd end up missing most of the video cause id be so focused on reading the lyrics so I just try to keep it at what I can catch from first time through. So its not like an in depth exhaustive analysis of each line, but rather what can be caught from just the first listen/watch through. Thank you for watching :)
So you were right about the symbolism between the car, after this song your initially suppose to go into the (Trilogy) in this order 1~ Jumpsuit 2~ Nico and the Niners 3~ Levitate
Decoding help : You're a bit lost with concepts, so I'll write some information that might help you. (attention - a lot of words lol) so basically you'll see a connection between two concept albums of Twenty one pilots (TOP), first one - blurryface and second one - trench Blurryface - main character in the album, that represents Tyler (singer and songwriter), and ours insecurities . He's Tyler's alter-ego. Tyler usually wears black paint on his hands and neck during his live shows and music videos for the album, to represent Blurryface and his insecurities, how he is not sure in his music ( hands - music instruments , neck - words, voice). Nico (man in red from jumpsuit video ) - blurryface physical form, main bishop in Trench album. Dema - represents a place (city), physical or psychological, in which Blurryface has jurisdiction over Tyler, which means a place where your insecurities control you. Trench is the place in-between this control and "freedom" . Banditos - a rebel organization who rescue people trapped in Dema and trying to help people Leave The City of Dema, fight their insecurities and depression (obviously - TOP fans). Red color - blurryface era (depression, insecurities, bishops) Yellow color - trench era (hope, support, family, friends) about video: heavydirtysoul - In this video blurryface is driving Tyler to Dema while repeatedly trying to kill Josh(drummer) who is trying to stop him. While those hard drumming it helps Tyler to take some control , cuz with every hit of drums - car is start to fall over. At the last minute Tyler takes control again and saves Josh - but Josh's drums are still catching fire, because Ty problems affect everyone around him even if he doesn't hit them physically.... And after the car catches fire and ty beats blurryface - it starts all over again the next day... A constant loop of hurting the people you love because of your inner demons. Now some people believe the car also represents the whole blurryface album and it blows up at the end to symbolize the end of the era and beginning of trench. if you wanna see how the story ends, next : jumpsuit - Nico and the niners - Levitate. Heathens ( video gives answer for "We win but not everyone will get out") - Morph - Bandito - Leave the city
Wow.....Thank you. That was extremely helpful and an excellent explanation while still being very concise. I wish I had known all this before recording the next three songs. This would have explained so much. I didn't know there was this whole Dema and Bishops thing that I needed to look into before watching. But this helps clear everything up so much, thank you!
Loved your breakdown!! I think the only thing you might’ve missed is that Josh and the music helped him get out of his head (car) and past his mental struggles of the moment.

If you want to pull out the lyrics for future videos, I would be all for it since you have such great lyrical insight. Dang - I'm going to share this video with students who have a hard time figuring out how to take apart the meaning in poems and stories....you really do a good job of analyzing the lyrics and visuals :-)
This showed up on my phone. I just became a Twenty One Pilots fan from following another reactor. Amazing talents. This video is awesome, drum in the middle of the street, rims spitting out sprarks, doors came off. This artist lyrics has very deep meaning in every one of his songs. BWT, you don't have a personal introduction? One of those cool one? 🤗✌
Yes they do, very cryptic and deep and I love it. I love trying to decipher the meanings out of their songs. No not yet haha but I did just finish making one that will be showing up in the newly made videos soon :)
the harder josh drums the more the car gets ruined. josh helps tyler when hes being controlled by his "heavy dirty soul" as in the DRIVER of the car. god i love their music videoes so much
You are so astute. I’m envious. But also REALLY enjoying your thoughts on material I am so familiar with, yet it can always reveal itself further. No one can touch these guys and their level of artistry.
You can’t go wrong w this one. Video and lyrics are fire and the end is huge mind f.... nice job catching the lane boy reference. Tyler doesn’t want to be put in a genre but knows his music speaks to many dealing w certain issues. You have the right order which is cool as this is first track on Blurryface but released towards end so made sense rolling into trench album for jumpsuit Nico and levitate. Lane boy was on Blurryface album too. Keep em coming
I always thought that "death inspires me like a dog inspires a rabbit" was like when the instrusive thoughts get to your mind you chase death but when they go away you realize that was crazy to think about it/ afraid of yourself - I know it's wrong but I got it until now
If you watch the 'beyond the video' making of, technically they only had the small chunk of road blocked off to work with. But then it just fits right in with the cyclical aspect. Live this song is just so incredibly full of raw emotion. The Fox theatre version is a good example.
@@SuffiReax they're all really fun to watch, although they do often take creative license in regards to explaining how the videos are made. They do the same in interviews, makes it all fun and playful but never quite sure if they're telling the truth lol.
OK, for a first listen/view you got lots of the clues correct. Since we skipped most of the Blurryface Era, just for future references, since we might go back to other videos from that album, whenever you see black on Tyler's hands and neck, that's Blurryface. He also wears a red Bennie, eyes go full black, and has a lower tone of voice (basically, what you see in the Stressed Out video). Blurryface represents his insecurities, and was the figure that appeared driving the car, which you actually got, but just not realized who it actually was, lol. There's other clues that hint what will be happening in future videos, so I'll wait until you post them in case you didn't see the reference. As for the end when he is in the car again, yes, it's a metaphor that everyday we have to go through this "internal war" with ourselves. This has been a recurring theme of Tyler's lyrics in several songs, and he did it visually here with the video. In this video he defeated his dark thoughts at night, but he knows that he will need to do it all over again the next day.
I know you didnt know the whole story of TOP but they allways said that the night is the worst time because all the demons come out and he tryes to just make it to the morning, mostly that's the theme ever since self titled so 2009 and you could see it in the music video that in the morning everything was good but more towards the night the car was more broken untill it just completely exploded at the end. (Sorry for bad english, i am not from a english speaking country so english is my secoundary language.)
Death inspires me...Like... Dog inspires rabid So one point of view would be that he is the rabid (the crazy) chasing death (the not crazy) as the solution.
Ty for reacting to these I can't wait to see the next 3 you are doing and also I wanna see u react to their song kitchen sink which I think inspired their logo
Another great reaction. I don’t think you need the lyrics coz you always seem to get exactly what’s being conveyed. I’ve seen very few reactors pick up in the end portraying that this is a cycle that goes round and he needs to try and cope with each day. Congrats on that. You’ve done the others so I can ask, did you notice in nico & the miners the box he puts the flower in already contains a number of flowers? This alludes to the same thing. Basically escaping your inner ‘demons’ is a cycle that you never truly escape and have to continue fighting using those around you & hope to support that fight. I think this is the true message of these videos- to never give in to that cycle, keep going or you’ll get dragged under by it.
Thank you! Ohhhhh! Wow yes I do remember that part, and there being other flowers already in the box. So that is symbolic of it being a loop kinda. That is so creative. Wow.
Love, love, love your reactions, responses, and seeing your journey of discovering them.Tyler and Josh are amazing, their songs are incredibly thought provoking and deep, with references to other songs and faith. True 3:
another solid breakdown!
Before heading into the next 3 videos, i'd suggest doing a little research on the city of Dema, otherwise you might be lost in the videos/lyrics
Heavydirtysoul is kind of the bridge between this album (Blurryface) and their following album (Trench) - the next 3 songs are all from trench - trench is a conceptual album based around the city of Dema - they also took a 3 year hiatus between the two albums, so that is referenced a bit throughout Trench
Blurryface is somewhat conceptual as a lot of the album is Tyler battling "Blurryface" which is the personification of his fears/insecurities/depression/etc - (also the "person" driving the car in this video) - you can see Tyler also represent Blurryface by painting his hands and neck in this video, signifying him trying to cover up his insecurities with what he uses to make his music (voice and writing)
In a nutshell, the city of Dema is a mythological city Tyler created that represents being trapped inside your negative thoughts - so the goal would be to conquer your thoughts and escape the city - the city is guarded by 9 bishops (Nico and the Niners) and their goal is to keep you trapped inside your thoughts to the point that you take your life (Neon Gravestones) - there are vulchers all around the city waiting for the people who commit suicide (also the picture on the cover of the album Trench) - colors are very meaningful in this world - the bishops wear the color red and the Banditos (or rebels who are trying to escape) are covered in yellow - yellow being a symbol of hope in this world - Trench (album title) would be the area you would escape to from Dema
that's a very sparknotes version of Dema, Tyler created journals, a website, photographs, etc explaining the world that he leaked out prior to the release of the album - i'd just do a quick google search and spend 10-15 minutes just reading a bit about it and the videos/lyrics will make a lot more sense to you - most of the lyrics are applicable in both the real world and the city of Dema, but some of the lyrics only apply to the storyline and you may be lost without at least a little bit of understanding
hope that helps!

Haha I wondered about that at the end of the video, where it was filmed and how much road they blocked off to do it
@@SuffiReax they're all really fun to watch, although they do often take creative license in regards to explaining how the videos are made.
Thank you for the explanation, I am glad I got most of it haha
Thank you for breaking these down, you are spot on.
Sure thing!
You're good at interpreting video and song!
Thank you!
I love the symbolism, so creative and clever.
No worries! Your English was great
Death inspires me...Like...
Dog inspires rabid
So one point of view would be that he is the rabid (the crazy) chasing death (the not crazy) as the solution.
How high are you? It’s rabbit
Nice reaction!
Thank you!
Ty for reacting to these I can't wait to see the next 3 you are doing and also I wanna see u react to their song kitchen sink which I think inspired their logo
I've got kitchen sink on my list!
Yes! 🔥❤️
There should be Tyler's scream at the end of this song...
Its been like 10 years and I never noticed what you said about the cycle. really good thoughts on this
Another great reaction.
Wow.
Ay, you should listen to Goner, the studio version. Very good
Got it!

@@SuffiReax You're welcome 💖
There was a nice double negative in there:
Rapping to prove nothing, just writing to say something
'Cause I wasn't the only one who wasn't rushing to say nothing
