We have had lots of bad storms recently, and the Storm Sheild app saved my Ass once!!! There was a severe thunderstorm when I went to mow my yard, and I had no clue. Then I got the alert and I was like... oh shoot. I put the mower away, and two seconds later, lightning struck where I just mowed. Thank you Storm Sheild!!
That can sometimes happen, tornadoes are difficult to predict and forecast, and if spotters either aren't available or the tornado forms outside of spotter watch areas, it can be hard to sound the warning. That's why they'll sometimes mention the possibility of tornadoes with Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.

Usually they don't because most of the time, any person is safe inside a building from one. Severe Thunderstorms are most dangerous when a person is outside without cover in which a variety of hazards can injure or kill a person. Rarely would one pose a danger to any person in a shelter. Severe T-Storm hazards include 1. Heavy Rain that can cause Flash Flooding (Which a Flash Flood Warning would be issued) 2. Dangerous Lightning that can strike anyone without shelter. 3. Powerful winds. In extreme cases the damage could be similar to that of Tornado. Many people have confused this type of damage with tornadoes when in reality a tornado may have never occurred 4. Hail which will hurt to get pelted by (Extreme cases can have hail as large or larger than Baseballs. Common cases have hail from quarter size to golf ball sized) 5. Of course, Tornadoes (In which a Tornado Warning would be issued instead of a Severe Thunderstorm Warning)
Yesterday they issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for my area. There were maybe 3 Severe thunderstorms in the entire watch area that covered 1/4 of the state and parts of other states and one EF1 Tornado that touched down 2 counties away from me.

This reminded me that i needed to plug in my WR120. Also: 1st siren (the one shown powering up) FS 2001 SRN 2nd siren: (might not be right) Either a FS 2T22 or maybe a Thunderbolt 1000T. Don't kill me I'm a beginner in sirens
I live in Canada and there are several A severe thunderstorm watches and warnings and I don’t really mind that much I just go out in my carport and watch the show so much lightning is so much thunder and lots of wind so much fun if you’re living in Canada with extreme weather
I live in Tennessee and every time we get tornado warnings nothing happens at least in the area where I live so I always just brushed it off but one day in my sophomore year of high school I was driving to school during a tornado warning (yes it was bad I couldn't see but three feet ahead of me because of the rain and the hail was so loud on top of my car I couldn't even hear the sirens) and I had to take cover once I got inside my school but as usual I was like oh it's probably nothing but then an hour later I found out that a tornado had touched down walking distance from my school and it was actually happening as I was driving luckily it was only I think an EF1 and caused minor damage to a bank and no one was killed or injured but it made me realize that tornado warnings should always be taken seriously even if it does wind up being nothing but its better to be safe than sorry I mean it could've been a whole lot worse it could've been an EF5 that destroyed my town and picked up my car with me in it and I wouldn't be here today writing this comment
Yup. I just realized that the first tornado warning I ever experienced (I was scared out of my mind I was only 7 or 8) was an actual nearby tornado about 25 miles away o_O
Once in awhile 2016 there was a tornado wartch where I lived, and my and my family went to pizza hut and ate food happily, and when we got home we found out there was a tornado and there was debris everywhere.

You know you would think that tornado warning or watch alerts would make your phones alarm thing go off but nope it’s currently 5:30 am (corona has destroyed my sleep schedule I am now nocturnal) and I got a little buzz from my phone saying my town is on tornado warning till 6:00am. But there was a funnel north-east of my area, But it never touched down.)

The SPC isn’t doing its job then, because there’s literally never issue severe thunderstorm warnings in the St. Louis Metro viewing area. Just last night we had golf ball sized hail and winds strong enough to blow our Old City Cathedral’s roof off as well as snapping entire trees in half. It also knocked out 50% of power in the city and disabled some telephone lines, and they won’t be back up until the day after this comment is posted. Yet we never got a warning, not even a watch. No thunderstorm warning, no wind advisory, no high wind warning, none of it. I’m gonna be complaining to their office once this is all over, but for now I’m just slightly pissed off.

A tornado warning means it already touched down, or is about to. A watch means the conditions are right for it to happen. Either way, stay indoors and be prepared.
To weather enthusiast like me this might seem so obvious it blows your mind people mix it up. But the more I go into leadership roles the more I'm surprised to see intelligent, educated people having difficulty with these basics because it's just not their typical area of interest. Like explaining a ground rule double to someone who doesn't follow baseball or off-sides to non futbol fans. It might seem like dumbing it down, but just changing the wording to Possible & Warning instead of Watch & Warning could really steer folks better.

Severe thunderstorm can only harm you, if you're outside. Because of the hail and lightning. Witch you would be inside. You'd be safe. A tornado is a completely different story.

A watch means in a warning means that there is curious of Sofia thunderstorm warning or tornado or a hurricane

A tornado warning means it already touched down, or is about to. A watch means the conditions are right for it to happen. Either way, stay indoors and be prepared.

To weather enthusiast like me this might seem so obvious it blows your mind people mix it up. But the more I go into leadership roles the more I'm surprised to see intelligent, educated people having difficulty with these basics because it's just not their typical area of interest. Like explaining a ground rule double to someone who doesn't follow baseball or off-sides to non futbol fans. It might seem like dumbing it down, but just changing the wording to Possible & Warning instead of Watch & Warning could really steer folks better.
to be fair, the media talks about both watches and warnings with the same level of apocolytpic urgency you can be forgiven if you think its the same thing.

Severe thunderstorm can only harm you, if you're outside. Because of the hail and lightning. Witch you would be inside. You'd be safe. A tornado is a completely different story.
