Thank you! I just got done changing the steering mechanism on my Troy-Bilt tr-30 found two tires flat that were supposed to have been fixed at the shop last time it was there. I'm guessing that's why the steering went out because one of the front tires was flat. So got the tires fixed today and back on and now the brake is stuck, so it's not the exact mower that you have in this video, but close enough I'm going to go check that spring. Thanks again!
Thanks this just happened to me. Thanks for making the video. I had no clue what was going on. 😅 seems like a simple fix. Might try to do something to prevent this from happening
I have a Troy-Bilt tr-30. The brake was stuck. I watched a few videos about it and finally found the one that showed on the right side of the steering wheel, there's a P setting. The lever shows P123456. So when you push the brake pedal down and put it on the P/Park setting, the brake pedal stays down until you take the mower out of Park.
Thanks man! I have this exact model. My son ran it into a buried rock and broke off some kind of welded part that looks like it was a tensioner for a belt. But I can't find it on any assembly drawing. Since it's welded on, it won't have a part number. Hoping I can find something that would work on eBay. Do you know what that part would be?
They all use those MTD 918-04566B 918-04566A 918-04566 618-04566B 618-04566A transmissions that were superseded and worse most new ones are now plastic.
There's nothing wrong with the Spring somebody hooked it backwards just take the Spring off and hook it from the front with the hook going to the back and you won't have that problem, You gotta take it off of the rod also so both hooks are facing in towards the center.
Thanks. I'll look at that, too. My mower is a Troy-Bilt tr-30, so a little different than this one, but the brake is stuck and has stuck once before. I don't know how my husband got and I'm stuck before. He doesn't seem to know either. Thanks
@@cjcj2010 28" snapper rear engine rider may be a good choice. Most small riders are junk. Definitely do not buy anything that small made by Toro, MTD or Troy-Bilt, or Poulan
@@jeshualee2711Thanks! Does Troy-Bilt tr-30 I have or maybe it's tb30 anyway, works fine for me, but my husband is 230 lb and I think the weight limit on this mower is 250. He's a lot more rough on equipment than I am. He has flipped this mower over twice in the ditch and ran up on the edge of a 3 or 4 inch concrete slab. Those are the only causes of breakage on this mower so far, but when we're ready for a new one I'm taking your recommendation. Thanks again :)
I’m not a fan of these either. Just worked on a 2018 with a Kohler engine in it and changing the fuel filter was a bear due to the awful location of it. 👎
Good fixing it , thanks 🙏

Try wrapping a sleeve around the spring, may be a hose clamp?

What smallish riding mower do you recommend? I have a gate opening that is only 34 inches.

A liberal coating of marine grease on all of the surfaces will eliminate sticking….and stopping….
