Mine only has 8 hrs on it and it started this today while cutting grass. Came in to search solution and this was the first video that popped. Work perfect and only took 1 minute! Thank you sir!
Thank you so much for this video. I need to adjust my brakes and wasn't sure how to proceed. I'm going to adjust them soon and really appreciate your video. Have a great day!
Thank you! So simple. Great videos. I’ve had practically no breaks for over a year and learned to shift very quickly to keep from ending up in my culvert 😂
Glad it helped!
Hey thanks for the tip on how to adjust the brake clutch straight lines to you friend😂
Excellent video.. It was exactly what I needed to do. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing! My brake peddle doesn't come all the way up. Any ideas?
Mine fell to the foot rest and I have to keep it pulled up with a dog leash to be able to cut grass. Have to keep pulling on it the whole time I’m cutting. Wears out my arms. lol
great video
thanks for sharing. Can you tell me how to adjust the choke?
thank you for you time god bless you
Great video.... and thanks for not having any goovy background music.
😆
Reconnect the brake spring to the brake arm. Note: Place a .013” feeler gauge in between the brake disc and the inboard brake pad. Tighten the nut until you feel light resistance pulling out the feeler gauge. This is from the factory service manual.
Nice Video Peter ! ...I've had Tbr30 for 5 years and no issues what so ever ! ... If U ever have to drop the deck for the troy-belt , I would enjoy seeing a video of it !
Fairly simple. Just 3 set of pins.
Not sure if you'll see this but new video posted on drive belts - deck removed
Thank you for sharing?
How can you adjust the clutch?
Thanks man! Have this issue and can't wait to fix it.
Any ideas on how to prevent wheelies when letting go of the clutch/brake? It really tries to throw me off every time
Maybe start in a lower speed? How old are the drive belts?
@@petedymond I noticed your mower has the front counter weight on it...Does that help with the wheelies taking off..
I am having an issue with the brake sticking. As I mow, it eventually releases all the way, but it is annoying, and probably not good for the brake or transmission. Any answers on how to fix something like this? Thank you.
Probably the mechanism needs to be cleaned and lubricated.
Do you think u might know my issue, I have the same mower, and the break is not going all the way up in sixth gear, and therefore going slower the breaks aren’t messed up transmission maybe loose break pully?
If I'm understanding you correctly, you have the gear selector in 6th gear but the left pedal isn't coming all the way up?
If so, it's probably your drive belts
Out of curiosity, I'm 4'10 and I have the Hardest time using the break pedal. Would you have any ideas that might help me reach it better or is there a way to loosen the break so it's not so Hard to push down??
Sucks being short sometimes.
If you lift the seat you should see an adjustment bolt. Loosen it and slide the seat all the way forward and re-tighten the bolt. That may help
I replaced all 3 belts and now mower won’t stop when I press on brake and put in park. Prior to changing the belts it would stop. I’ll try to adjust the brake as you did in this video but I’m wondering if the new drive belts are too short.
Did you buy OEM? If the lower drive belt is too short then it may stay engaged. If it doesnt brake even while the engine isn't running, then yes adjust the brakes.
@@petedymond
I did not buy OEM. The mower brake works fine when in park and motor is off. It just doesn’t stop when mowing. I’m assuming the belt or belts are too tight and will probably replace with OEM belts.
Thank you for your replies. And thanks for your videos; they are really exceptional!
Can I get a video of how the trans belt tensioner spring hooks to the frame and does your move up and down really easily. Had to replace both belts and now it’s acting funny
I'll to know that myself I just replaced 2 belts and the pulley today
My brake pedal wont return any ideas? and it's hard to shift from forward to reverse.
Is the spring broken?
I had to replace the lower drive belt with a 35" instead of a 35.25" How do I adjust the clutch now?
No adjustment ability as far as I know. The correct belt is important
I have cub cadet cc30h , the mower move forward and back slowly just won’t kick into normal speed to mower
So it doesn't drive forward or backwards when you let out the brake/clutch pedal? Sounds like the drive belt is worn out
@@petedymond its moves forward and backward slowly, when releasing the brake/clutch, just won't take off into the fast speed to cut grass ,runs like a turtle,no speed up
Tell me something why would scratch up a smooth machine surface, if it rusts it’ll be 10 times harder to get off next time ?
Not sure what you're referring to?
If you're refering to the wheel shaft, it was 1200 grit wet n dry paper, followed by grease.
The wheel axle shaft
What is like to know is that I have that exact same mower and while driving forward it will slow down because the brake pedal starts moving down toward engaged. Any way on how to fix that? I have to hold my foot under it to keep it from moving down and maintain speed.
Sounds like the return spring on the drive belt pulley has come off OR the belt itself is failing
Same issues here, did you resolve it? And what was the fix like?
@@livnsouthflorida ended up needing new drive belts. completely fixed the problem.
@@bogus696996cool thanks for quick response
👍

Broken spring
Great vid on the brake adjustment, Pete! I have owned a TB 30 for 5 years now, and I didn't know this.
Hey..... On a side note, do you know where the brake safety switch is on our mowers? Mine suddenly had no power to the starter solenoid two days ago, and I checked the other 3 safety switches, the key switch, battery, and solenoid.
I haven't had time to snoop around for it, but I figured you may know.
Thanks, Pete!! :)
I found it. It's up under the frame rail about 2-3 inches away from the deck chute/mulch plug safety switch.
Turns out that if you ever drop the deck on a TB30, and forget to unplug the chute switch, you can pull the brake switch out of line so that it does not engage. (Yes, it can pivot. SMH).
