Very good cameras well designed mechanically and electronically. I have switched to these cameras one year ago. Their design is showing that PlayerOne engineers know our hobby, our problems and what we really need.
Recently found your channel and I too, am the owner of a Player One camera (Neptune CII) I bought during their December sale. Originally I intended it as a replacement for my old Orion SSAG guide camera and maybe eventually EAA, but have been motivated to try it on some DSOs with my humble setup, and what I've done so far is very promising! Whenever I get around to replacing my DSLR it will definitely be another Player One camera. Also as a side note, I really enjoy your videos being more technical in nature as they are an invaluable resource for a deeper understanding of all things AP!
Hi @jamblor, do you mind if I ask what price you paid during the December sale? I see they are on sale now but just wondering if I should wait until December myself haha.
I have a couple Player One Cameras. Met the Owner at Neaf. I had a silly little problem with a cress threaded nosepiece. Didn't have it with me but NP, handed me one and said come back if it didn't fix the problem :) I like the cameras and the boss :)
227 / 5 000 Thank you very much for this great video. I am planning to buy a Player one Zeus 455M Full frame to use with my Planewave CDK 12.5 inch telescope. Your comments encourage me to try this camera. Regards Denis
I recently got the Ares C pro and Phoenix 5x2” filter wheel and the are amazing. Now I’m looking to get one the planetary camera’s like the Mars II C. I did use my Ares C with Firecapture for the Moon and was amazed by it. Still need the lure how Firecapture works.
The same reason I buy Altair cameras, they are UK based & if there's any issues they will get it sorted asap even if the camera is out of warranty so can't say fairer than that, another great company is Pegasus astro even though they based in Greece they get things fixed, I had a powerbox that died one night & not only did they get a courier to pick it up but it was fixed & returned free of charge & all in little over a week. If I'm honest I'm hankering after the camera with the 585 sensor & I keep getting drawn to the Player one, maybe I'll pull the trigger soon. Clear skies
That's a good question, though I hadn't even thought about it before, so I guess it doesn't create a problem for me. I've never been a fan of piling my power management, mini PC, etc, on my OTA with the idea of "cable management". Using that strategy, I would be exchanging cable length for a lot more weight and mass on the mount that would work as a wind sail and give the mount a harder time. Instead, I braid the cables so they can't spread out and get tangled, then I strap them going up from the power supplies and mini PC to the top of the pier, which minimizes weight on the mount as well as objects that could catch night wind. I also avoid sharing USB ports because that's one of the biggest causes of hardware communication conflicts, so I don't worry too much about running equipment on shared USB ports. The only ports I allow to be shared are the low use ones that operate the power box and external SSD.
Especially talking to the rep at HighPoint about supply constraint and the state of Astrophotography. He said after COVID things went crazy and said no signs of slowing.

There is a reason all my cameras are Player One. They build better and they have awesome customer service. Thank you!

@@FilmModeler it was $269 CAD during the sale.

It's a customer that is loyal to its customers, in my experience.
I too am a fan of Player One. I have the Uranus-C Pro and Sedna-M for guiding. I am on an INDI platform and these devices just work great.

You're very welcome. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Player One is a very reliable company, in my experience.

I've never used Fire Capture. Just never gotten around to it. So far, NINA has met all my imaging needs.
@ I also use N.I.N.A for my normal Astro shooting and love the automation off it. But use Firecapture for filming the moon.
Brilliant video! I've also had great customer experience 👍 Gear is brill too

I’d recommend the Ares-M or Ares-C. They have the 533 sensor. But the Uranus, with the 585 sensor, is also good.
I am using an SvBony 705c (asi585) and an SvBony 405cc (asi294) and am quite happy with both.
Svbony gives a lot of bang for the buck.
Why do the player one main imaging cameras only have one "device" usb port? Do you find that to be an issue that degrades your cable management?

Great information and recommendation for player one camera just hope I can get them to deliver to France
Je pense que leurs cameras sont disponible en France. Il y a plusieurs de vendeurs en France et aux autres pays.
@@SKYST0RY merci
I really haven’t looked around, but I wish the US had a major Astrophotography company
I agree. It's a wide open market.

This is motivating me to get a playerone 😅.
Well worth it. The Rolls Royce of prosumer cameras, IMO.
I too own player 1 cameras, the aftermarket service I received is also second to none. It's good to hear others having similiar experiences
