  • Walk Summary
    In this Pendle Sculpture Trail walk from Barley in Lancashire, we pass two picturesque reservoirs with views across to Pendle Hill, before entering Aitken Wood, a delightful woodland setting to show off the sculptures.
    There are about 25 sculptures along the trail including the Magic Chair, the Witchfinder, the Ceramic Column, the Black Dog, and the Chained Witches amongst many others. Ceramic plaques representing 10 Pendle witches also provide additional entertainment for children for them to work out 'which witch is which'!
    We walk back to Barley along the outward route, passing again by Upper and Lower Black Moss reservoirs.

    WALKING BOOTS Unless very wet or winter walking, my preference is boots/shoes without ankle support - that's not for everyone though. Having used fell running shoes for many years, I prefer the lightweight feel.
    INOV-8 Trailfly Ultra G300 Max: New to me in 2022, now the choice for 60%+ of my walks. Training shoe cushioning, but fellshoe grip and stability - getting many best in test awards.

    Really well made video - will have to give this Pendle walk a go when I'm next in the area. Watched a program on the Pendle witches and have been fascinated with them ever since.

      Thanks - don't forget to check out the other 2 Pendle videos - will also have 2 more from the Nick of Pendle and from Downham over the next few months...that'll be Pendle Hill done from all sides then...

    Do you think this could be achieved with a mobility scooter?

    • @walks4all
      @walks4all  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest, I'm not sure. I guess it would depend upon the capability of the scooter and range of it. I've seen a few people with prams when I've been in there, but a couple of tripadvisor reviews I've seen have said not wheelchair friendly. I've not seen anyone on a scooter, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. In an old pendle sculpture trail leaflet I found online, it does say * "TRAMPER ROUTE - For those with disabilities or the less mobile, the upper part of the trail is accessible with a tramper-type vehicle. Vehicles can be booked by calling The Bowland Experience on 01200 448000"* So not sure how a mobility scooter compares to what they are calling a tramper. Whilst there are boggy areas after rain around some of the sculptures, it had been quite wet not long before I filmed and the main path itself was ok. Hope that helps...
