We were safe. The suit really does keep the player safe at all times, it gives us the tools we need to survive. It also gives us the tools we need to make sure the others do not.
I don’t feel as if there’s a canonical reason for why the Half-Life 2 HEV Suit doesn’t have a boot up voice, maybe it was already booted up in Kleiners chamber, or maybe when they upgraded it during the Combine rule, they changed some things as maybe the Combine wouldn’t pick it up? We’ve got to guess these things; I think Valve may have took it out as Half-Life 2 was much more story based and serious, while the original had upbeat tracks etc.

This part was so cool. Maybe it sounds dumb, but there's just something so exciting about the computerized voice, music and HUD elements appearing somewhat in-synch.
There's few moments in my 20+ years of gaming that I would call "magic" but this sequence...the slow buildup, both of the OST and the suit itself... goosebumps, shivers, tears in my eyes. Insanely well done and memorable. Black Mesa is a masterpiece.
