how the hell does a plug become so corroded inside the car?
it looked like it had been sitting in battery acid :-/

Yeah I watched another of Louis' videos recently, I think it was a C4 picasso with ABS fault? that had wires that seemed to be corroding from the inside out and in the late 90's I worked for a guy who bought and sold salvage cars as a sideline,
anyway the amount of Peugeot's that would be in the yard because of dash fires told me they were clearly doing something very wrong.
It must be difficult to get good quality wires in France? lol
      P.S
I found the video that I was talking about th-cam.com/video/Jh9Ctv-1WlU/w-d-xo.html

  • @gunnarMyTube
    @gunnarMyTube ปีที่แล้ว +1

My 2003 looks like that. A Scenic II.
PROBLEM: Water drain pipes in front below the windscreen area becomes clogged with leaves and other dirt, so water won't evacuate but finally reches a level where it enters into the car going under the floor mats until it reaches a main wiring harness connector on the floor under the drivers seat. That moisture in combination with electrical currents flowing creates oxidation that totally destroys cable connections/pins in the connector. Most often the bottom connector part that sits closest to the floor metal gets the most damage due to being closest to moisture, but stuck pins can also break off when the connector is taken apart. Those are often the pins that supply electrical currents while the car is running, thus the oxidation process is accelerated there.
PREVENTION: Preventing water from entering onto the car floor. The water evacuation pipes come out into the wheel arch shrouds that needs to be removed for a proper cleanup. OR it could be possible to use pressured air or water. If the water evacuation clogging is not attended to preventively, then a Scenic will sooner or later face "death" due to this issue.
TIME CONSUMING REPAIR: Too expensive for a workshop to repair in relation to used car market value so most such Renault vehicles who are otherwise great cars go to the breakers.
OWN "DO I YOURSELF" ACTION: I was able to resurrect most of my wiring it seems by bypassing damaged connections with new wiring, bypassing the connector.
I did NOT get rid of the connector and resolder ALL wires but only did FIVE wires bypassed on the outside that I found had dropped loose same as shown here.
Even the large red +12V cable had broken loose so the rear electrical handbrake would not release. That is now working again.
I still have some issues with rear door windows but this video got me on the track now to solving it.
I was able to repair one rear door window control lead so I got to know how they work. Signal going from the drivers door switch simply ground the signal when activated.
I will soon find out the complete logic. Probably two leads per window. One signals up or down, the other runs the motor when grounded.
PRAISE: LM Auto Repairs you are to be praised for your video showing that window control go through that connector.

@@LMAutoRepairs Thanks, I finished it for now. Only issue left is left rear window where there is no life at all in the window motors. Controls on that door cannot open the window either. But I will look at that some later time. And the center console between front seats have a button to unlock so the console can be moved back/ forth. But there is not action when I press that button. The console remains in a fixed position. Any suggestions are welcome.

If you place small labels on the wires to connect, make sure NOT to use those "erasable" marker pens !
I found out that the heating gun when blowing hot air makes the text disappear !
Just as in a Mission Impossible agent video. You sit there with a bunch of wires with blank labels.
So I had to redo my marking of wires.. easy to mix up wires in that situation.

Three of my windows suddenly stopped working at the same time, only rare left was working. After some days, now suddenly front right started working again. @@LMAutoRepairs Finally the car is fixed! Since you share a lot of repairs I thought I'd share this one with you. It turned out there were 3 electrical faults: 1. Multiple bad solder joints inside the PCM. (caused intermittent P0606 and P0638 and limp mode when engine was hot) 2. Damaged MAP-sensor (P0105) 3. Parasitic signals on 12V caused by bad spark plug. After resoldering PCM and replacing the MAP-sensor the car ran a lot better but still a lot of noise on 12V. At the garage they replaced timingbelt, waterpump and spark plugs. After that it was OK. Car has been to 2 different shops that couldn't find the problem and off the road for 6 months total. 🤣

Could it be the same wiring than in scenic?.. I'll take the seat out and all the carpet to see what it looks like.

we bought a new door lock and I need advice on where the mistake might be lock when it's out of the car works - can be locked and unlocked once my father installs it in the car it doesn't work (the door can't be opened from the outside only from the inside so he already has nerves where there may be a mistake if he doesn't have to go for technical and emission control, he would have time to devote himself to the repair, but now he's driven to see if he can do it by that time (and if he will succeed at all).
