How to Blend Two Images in Photoshop - 3 Easy Ways

  • In this video, I show you how to blend two images together in Photoshop using layer masks, blend modes, and layer opacity! We start with the most basic way to blend two photos together using the Opacity option in the Layers panel. The Opacity option is an easy way to change the transparency of a layer, allowing the image on the layer below it to show through.
From there, we learn how to get more interesting and creative results by blending images using Photoshop's layer blend modes. Blend modes are great for blending any two images together, but they're especially useful for blending a texture with a photo.
And finally, I show you how to blend two images seamlessly together using a layer mask.
Unlike the Opacity option and blend modes which blend entire layers at once, layer masks in Photoshop let us show and hide different parts of a layer, making them perfect for blending images.

Hi everyone, Steve here. Thanks for watching this video where I show you three easy and powerful ways to blend two images together. We start with the most basic way to blend images, using the Layer Opacity option in the Layers panel. The Opacity option lets us quickly change the transparency level of a layer so the image on the layer below it can show through. From there, we move on to layer blend modes. Blend modes are different ways that layers can interact with each other, and they're especially great for blending a texture with a photo. And finally, we learn how to blend two images seamlessly together using layer masks! Unlike the Opacity option or the blend modes which blend entire layers at once, a layer mask lets us show and hide different parts of the layer, making them perfect for blending images. We'll learn how we can quickly blend two photos together using a layer mask and a simple black-to-white gradient.
