Ive found that some of these cheap reels the casting controll knob doest always work. Putting a thin disk of plastic cut to size inside the knob itself sorts that out... Still choppy but can atleast tighten it up a bit if needed this way
There is nothing you can buy for $9 that will resemble quality, but it's functional. These would be good for a travel type setup that you wouldn't care if it got wrecked. Get yo butt on the ice and start jerkin some perch!
I've had good luck with Temu fishing gear, but read the description carefully. For the money the quality is pretty good.

The temu baitcaster thats 30 buck and up are very good. I have 2 of them and had no serious issues. I even upgraded the bearing to high speed ones
