It's one thing to be an Anti-war advocate. And quite frankly, THAT war was one America never should have been involved in. However, that doesn't change the fact that Jane Fonda's actions of going over there as a guest of the Enemy was at best Ignorant. At worst, Disrespectful to the soldiers who were being brutally tortured by the very same hosts whom she was happy to entertain and chat up. Soldiers who had no choice in the matter. Soldiers, many of whom were drafted into military service. Far from a choice when your only options are serve, or be sent to prison for many long years. Her actions were not a form of social justice. I would love to see a video about actors who were decent people both on and off the stage. There are so many describing the bad ones; it would be refreshing to see the ones who were nice people.
One more point about Joan Crawford, ironic that one of the 'difficult women' discussed here, Faye Dunaway's career was ruined by her cartoonish portrayal of Crawford. Ironic!
Well, what goes around comes around. Karma came and kicked Eddie Fisher in the slats when his much better half Elizabeth Taylor initiated an affair with Richard Burton while they were shooting their scenes in Italy for the mega-epic CLEOPATRA (1963). La Liz divorced Eddie Fisher and married Richard Burton after he got divorced from his wife Sybil Williams. Both Debbie and Elizabeth managed to repair their friendship. Only in Hollywood, friends and neighbors. Only in Hollywood.
I think Lucille Ball was only protecting her professional reputation, and wanted anything that her name was on was as good as it could possibly be. After all, if her product wasn't " up to scratch ", it would be HER who carried the can, not the supporting crew and ensemble. She managed to smash through the " glass ceiling "for women in Hollywood at the time, and along with others, gained women the ability and opportunity to push on to greater career heights, behind the cameras as well as in front of them.
Fun Fact: during the filming of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, Betty Davis called Joan Crawford "Hollywood's first case of syphilis" and went so far to say that she "wouldn't sit on her toilet seat." Joan, on the other hand, said that while Betty constantly screamed, she just "knitted a scarf that stretched clear to Malibu."
They had a lifelong feud over Franchot Tone. The first Hollywood method actor, and talented, genius hearthrob. Bette met him on set, and tyey dated. But sensing she might lose him, Joan stopped playing hard to get. She invited Franchot over. He found her in her sun room - tanning naked. They soon married. Bette began to bitterly trash talk Joan soon after. Unclear if Bette started the spat - and Joan retaliated by taunting her. Or if Joan was responding to unfair attacks by a jealous Bette.
Please show the proper respect of honoring the greatest actress in the golden age of Hollywood movies by correctly spelling her name. It’s Bette Davis. Not Betty.
Marlene Dietrich's daughter reported that as a child, she was her mother's slave and punching bag. When the daughter hit puberty, Marlene kept her out of sight, not wanting to be seen to be the mother of a teenager.
This video brings up an issue that exists among many people and not just Hollywood actors and actresses. The issue is that many people in this world live a double life. These people try to have a nice image of themselves in public, but in private they are a very different and cruel person. It is difficult to find people whose public life matches their private life.
It is difficult to deal with so many people tugging at your sleeves without being short with some of the more rude types. For these famous, very busy women to be always super sweet was an impossibility. The pressure on them must have been tremendous. As far as Joan Crawford and her daughter, having had a sister, I take all that Mother/Daughter conflict as so much static. My view of my mother was VERY different than my sister's view. Writing hit pieces on dead people, who can't respond, is not cricket as the British would say.
@@winkyhere8697 In my entire life, which has been long, I have had 1 man, who was rude to me. When I think of the women in the last 60 years, who thought it was fine to behave like 3 year olds, it is embarrassing. I come from a long line of strong willed women, who are always ladies, not self willed, who must have their own way, or devolve into hissy fits. It shows bad breeding, to begin hitting, throwing things, and cursing. It's unseemly. Men have never acted that way toward me.
Let's see. Joan Crawford beat her kid. Jane Fonda stood up to our government's useless and futile involvement in another country's civil war, and it's Fonda you have a problem with. Got it. Glad I'm not your kid.

Here unwavering loyalty to the Allies couldn't have resulted in Dietrich's bcoming a U.S. citizen in 1937, since the U.S. didn't even enter the war until December of 1941.
Must not be very good actresses - six of them are evidently just playing themselves. I don't like them and would need a good reason to watch their movies. What about Miriam Hopkins? She was noted for being 'difficult', a scene stealer, trying to take charge while filming and her four marriages lasted around two years each, I think.
The studio heads were outrageous in their treatment of women and using the casting couch. The Hollywood system tends to traumatize actors and actresses into beasts themselves.
I always wondered about that. They had to have had enough compelling evidence to make a movie about it. Knowing Hollywood though, who knows. I’d like to know what it was.
I read something from two other siblings & they gave a different view. She was strict & liked things clean, while Christina like many children pushed the limits & was offended when corrected. She kept hurts, similar to my sister. Why wait until Mummy dearest had died,?
That is true if it's the truth. But when a book is written by a ghostwriter hired to hype up the drama and shock value to sell books it is quite different. Christina always came off as an opportunist. She failed at an acting career of her own. And during the short time she was in acting she was known as being very difficult to work with. So when the opportunity for the book came around and a big payday, Christina jumped at the chance. It was published right after JC died so Joan couldn't even defend herself and people ate it up as being 100 % truth.

Joan was very attractive when she was a younger actress then through the years her look became more and more severe. As far as the adopted daughter though, she has profitted richly off of her, using her name to sell books and go on talk shows. The reality of her situation with her adopted mother is much more nuanced and complicated. Her famous tell all book was actually written by a ghostwriter who put in all the salacious parts so it would sell and people of course believed all of it. JC's name was mud and she wasn't around to defend herslf anymore. Christina Crawford is not a great person.

Jane Fonda will always be considered a traitor by her actions in Vietnam. Regardless of your opinion of the war, Americans were getting killed by the people she supported. Never forgive, never forget
Jane Fonda was speaking the truth about an unwinnable war America was lied into. And we didn't learn from that war. We still had Iraq and afghanistan to slog through. Will we ever learn? Most likely not😢
I won't make any claim to know whether or not these actors did what they're accused of. I think those who are making the accusations should ask themselves if they are any better. We could all ask ourselves the same thing.
The difference is that these people appear to have split personalities, trying to portray themselves as ‘nice’ people while in reality were over egotistical tyrants.
I guess it bothers many that women in the industry can be just as nice or just as mean as anyone else and of course when women are that’s a major ‘crime’. People like the characters played. And I’m sure they can be just as surly as the people criticizing them for being what’s called HUMAN, not the sweet and adorable stereotype demanded.
@@brunoquestiona I agree. But being awful isn’t worse because it’s a woman and sadly, still, in this society women are always supposed to be nice and adorable. Actresses are entitled to be just as nasty as actors. Doesn’t make them evil! This is about gender only! Wake up to it!
They don’t have a higher divorce rate than the general population, and in fact, the highest rate of divorce in the United States has long been in the Bible belt. There are many many people in Hollywood, who are married for extended periods of time, but it just doesn’t make news. Half of the all-time male movie stars in Hollywood were married to the same woman for a lifetime.
Cristina wouldn't have dared pull that narcissistic drama when Joan was alive. Other than one of her children being taken back by birth mother, not one of her other children complained. At all...as a matter of fact, her twins loved her dearly for life.
@@ColleenLytle-sq8tx I can't comment on Crawford, but there is a type of abusive parent who singles out one child and is decent enough to the others. Lucille Ball, no. Upset with a showgirl messing with her ex-husband, that is understandable. Defending her son from Patty Duke which was much older and lied about him being the father of her son, beyond understandable. After her divorce Ricky she had to get tough with Hollywood executives, no choice she had too.
Let's remember too that Patty Duke was still undiagnosed but had Bi-Polar Disorder at this point and was very erractic. Not her fault but one can see how LB might not have been thrilled with her son being involved with her

Her assistant told me Lucille doesn’t talk to regular people. So I didn’t offer her another thing. These were the days when we served with crystal and china. How arrogant was she!
Boy! And she got rich due to regular people! I know a man that was in Las Vegas and saw Lucille Ball with another actress (can't recall who) but he said Lucy was cussing and acting like an ass in Vegas!
She sounds like an a whole.
Were are mere mortals to them
That was very nasty what she did to you but now she can explain her behavior to God
@@user-fz9ro8xy3u That is actually the truth. One needs true spiritual discernment to really understand. I thank The Father that I was not born into prominence. There is a history.
Many well-known individuals at the time advocated against the war. They did so in a dignified manner that didn't involve making a spectacle of themselves.
POET Ernest Hemingway? That's a new one! I thought he was a fiction writer, penning famous novels and novellas. I suggest the narrator take a trip to the library and do some deeper research.

Based on your talk about Lucille Ball, she doesn't belong in this video
No, she doesn't. We wouldn't have Star Trek if it wasn't for Lucille Ball.
🙏 Marlene Dietrich seemed to be the most kindest & caring lady actress in this list ... She acted with Compassion towards the other less fortunate around her ... 🙏🕯🌷🌿🌍✌💜🕊
It's upsetting to see this actress who fought evil is on this list..
Like clickbate, the title is misleading regarding this actress.
Lucille Ball should not be up there..she was not evil...she was a perfectionist...two VERY different things... I only watched this for her because I knew she wasn't evil...I never heard one evil thing about her...I just heard she was a tough cookie when it came to her shows...When it came to anything she was in...she was a perfectionist and she wanted everyone to bring their best...and she was rarely wrong in her assessments when she gave them... Other than that...she was a pleasant person...funny as ever and just a dynamic woman!
I would love to see a video about actors who were decent people both on and off the stage. There are so many describing the bad ones; it would be refreshing to see the ones who were nice people.
I believe Barbara Stanwyck was lovely to work with, and treated everyone with the same consideration and kindness, no matter who they were.
David Niven comes to mind! He seemed sweet!
@@ThePlataf And extremely talented! Much greater range than many mentioned here!!!
Some people are just too nasty to be civil.
"Bette Davis" is pronounced "Betty Davis", unlike "Bette Midler", which is pronounced "Bet Midler".
And while we're on the subject, Marlene Dietrich's first name was pronounced "Mar-lay-nuh" not Mar-leen.😉
Amen. Drove me nuts
Ironically Faye Dunaway played the role of Joan Crawford...a psycho playing a psycho...perfect...
One more point about Joan Crawford, ironic that one of the 'difficult women' discussed here, Faye Dunaway's career was ruined by her cartoonish portrayal of Crawford. Ironic!
Cartoonish. ???
I never thought Joan Crawford was pretty.
Well, then again there's George and Eric.
I think Lucille Ball was only protecting her professional reputation, and wanted anything that her name was on was as good as it could possibly be.
After all, if her product wasn't " up to scratch ", it would be HER who carried the can, not the supporting crew and ensemble.
She managed to smash through the " glass ceiling "for women in Hollywood at the time, and along with others, gained women
the ability and opportunity to push on to greater career heights, behind the cameras as well as in front of them.
That's no reason to be rude to people. You can control things in a professional way.
Garbo was mentally ill. She was a recluse and had little use for humanity. Garbo lived in fear of people, I can't say I blame her.
her biographer suggested that she was bipolar
Garbo was friends with Jane Fonda when Jane was a kid, and told Jane she was beautiful! Jane Fonda liked Greta Garbo.
She wasn't evil. As you said she just didn't want any part in show business after awhile. She chose to retire when she was still young.
I read that Garbo was very nice to a young Jane Fonda! She gave Jane a load of confidence in admiring Jane!
The commercials for Baby Jane gave me nightmares! I thought the film was great!
Please show the proper respect of honoring the greatest actress in the golden age of Hollywood movies by correctly spelling her name. It’s Bette Davis. Not Betty.

I never like her the person after reading "Mommy Dearest".
She acrazy.
This video brings up an issue that exists among many people and not just Hollywood actors and actresses. The issue is that many people in this world live a double life. These people try to have a nice image of themselves in public, but in private they are a very different and cruel person. It is difficult to find people whose public life matches their private life.
'Cos we all know there's nothing more "evil" than women refusing to obey their gender roles, right fellas?
It is difficult to deal with so many people tugging at your sleeves without being short with some of the more rude types. For these famous, very busy women to be always super sweet was an impossibility. The pressure on them must have been tremendous. As far as Joan Crawford and her daughter, having had a sister, I take all that Mother/Daughter conflict as so much static. My view of my mother was VERY different than my sister's view. Writing hit pieces on dead people, who can't respond, is not cricket as the British would say.
Kindness cost nothing, but is so priceless!
Hepburn's greatest role was as " Spencer Tracy's " beard."
Faye Dunaway actually played the Hollywood actress and abusive mother Joan Crawford in the 1981 film Mommy Dearest.
When you don't speak English and the entire production crew for your video consists of Chat GPT and Bard, facts like those won't be noted.

I often wonder how truthful joan crawford's adopted daughter's accounts were factual...
I always wondered about that. They had to have had enough compelling evidence to make a movie about it. Knowing Hollywood though, who knows. I’d like to know what it was.
I believe Christina Crawford.
I read something from two other siblings & they gave a different view. She was strict & liked things clean, while Christina like many children pushed the limits & was offended when corrected. She kept hurts, similar to my sister. Why wait until Mummy dearest had died,?

Reporting on horrendous child abuse is Never wrong fool, no matter when the abuser died.
Except when it is FORCED on audiences for political points of view.
Why was Marlene D even on this list? Ridiculous.
Marlene was narcissistic and selfish, and she was horrible to her husband’s mistress, Tami. Her treatment of Tami was, IMO, absolutely evil. Also, she deliberately left her teen daughter with a lesbian predator. I recommend that you read the excellent book written by her daughter, Maria Riva.
The segment about Bette Davis starts by calling her "betta", then switches to "bet".
🙄
I know - isn't that ridiculous?
Jane Fonda will always be considered a traitor by her actions in Vietnam. Regardless of your opinion of the war, Americans were getting killed by the people she supported. Never forgive, never forget
The war is over buddy. You lost.
A lot of soldiers murdered innocent people there! Remember Mi Lie?
Evilness is not a proud worthy trait, regardless of gender.
@@brunoquestiona I agree. But being awful isn’t worse because it’s a woman and sadly, still, in this society women are always supposed to be nice and adorable. Actresses are entitled to be just as nasty as actors. Doesn’t make them evil! This is about gender only! Wake up to it!
This explains why actors have such a high divorce rate
They don’t have a higher divorce rate than the general population, and in fact, the highest rate of divorce in the United States has long been in the Bible belt. There are many many people in Hollywood, who are married for extended periods of time, but it just doesn’t make news. Half of the all-time male movie stars in Hollywood were married to the same woman for a lifetime.
Still can’t stand Hanoy Jane and what she did!! Will never forget!
Joan Crawford was awful. My vintage couldn't stand her. She wasn't even attractive. 🇦🇺

Key phrase about Crawford's daughter's "memoir": "one year after her demise..."
