The fascinating Chateau de Vincennes is right there, the Bois de Vincennes is interesting if you are a walker. Vincennes is one of the rare cities in the eastern suburbs of Paris that is considered as chic as the western suburbs. The castle there is also very nice. The only, not so annoying, drawback is night prostitution at Porte de Vincennes and in the Bois de Vincennes.
We like the 14th, mostly due to a singular lack of tourists and easy access to the Metro. There are not as many restaurants or cafe's as other districts, but more than enough good ones to satisfy all but the most demanding of visitors. Did I say there were very few tourists. Though, as for all cities, you can never be 100% safe, all the neighborhoods I talk about in the video are fine. I would maybe just avoid Montmartre. It is safe but it's also a place where people party a lot late at night, which she might love, meaning there are also more drunk people in the streets at night, especially in South Montmartre.
Awesome video. Also, I have a very random question. How or where did you get that base map with the neighborhoods? I love cartography and GIS maps, and it looks like a clean Google Map or MapBox or something. I especially like how there are very faint light yellow or orange areas highlighted which show the busy retail and civic activity areas that show up on Google maps. @paristoptips
Thanks for liking. if you go to Google mymaps (www.google.com/mymaps) you can create your own maps, and there are 9 base maps layers you can choose from. For this video I used "Light political" base map, and I created the layers for every neighborhood. I also use mymaps for my neighborhood discovery videos, with a different base map.
If you want postcard Paris, with zero local vibe, and higher price, stay in arrondissements numbered 1st to 8th. 2nd still has some authenticity, and the northern part of the 3rd. If you want to experience Paris like a Parisian, any other arrondissement will do.
There are strictly no one living in the 1st for instance : how can it be authentic if the only people living there are tourists? It’s not Paris any more, it’s a prop for tourists like DLP or Mykonos. I don’t blame the tourists, I blame the authorities for failing to preserve a balance between local life and tourism.
Local population is 30% of what it was 60 years ago, yet the buildings have not disappeared, the locals have beeen replaced by tourists to the tune of 70%. And the people counted as residents are very often forfeit as they love the area and have purchased flats massively there. So yes, the 1st is now a prop not unlike Universal studios’s recreationof Chia go in the 30’s. But you have to be a Parisian to fully appreciate that.
@@paristoptips Ty! How would you compare it to de la tamise or louvre Montana? Trying to decide between those two and what you just reccomened. Thank you!
Honestly they are all 3 good hotels. The Melia might be a little less expensive, but it's close. The two you mentioned are closer to the Louvre, but then the Melia is closer to the Champs Elysees and the Madeleine church.
I will visit Paris for the very first time next month and I booked an Airbnb apartment in 8th district near champ lyses. Is the 8th district safe and convenient?
@@paristoptipsthanks so much for replying merci, ah ok I have booked a hotel closer to the butte-aux-cailles end. As long as it's safe to walk at night, not too worried about the look I guess.
There are bus stops everywhere in the city, so you'll never be far from one. For safer place just avoid the 19th arrondissement and the east and north of the 18th.
A good selection for those who have no money worries I guess. Just the most expensive touristy areas. If you look long and hard, you might find something nearly reasonable in parts of the 5th and Montmartre. Le Marais should appeal just to Bobos. In the 4 inner arrondissements public transport is irrelevant because the area is small and you can walk everywhere.
Hi its our first time to Paris and we are staying there 2.5 days ... would u recommend staying at Chouette Hôtel? Is it too far and too inconvenient ... we are coming there in the next few weeks. Thanks a lot
This hotel neighborhood is fine, as is apparently the hotel, with good reviews. But it's quite far south from the main sites to see. With metro, it would take you 30 minutes to go to the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower, 40 minutes to Le Marais or Montmartre. Staying a week that wouldn't be a problem, but just for 2,5 days, there will be a lot of time on transport. For just a little more, may I suggest you looking at Hotel Opéra d'Antin, Best Western Hôtel Opéra Drouot, or maybe Tonic Hotel Saint-Germain. All 3 would be more central, the two first ones near the Opéra, and the last one in the hearth of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

It depends on what is affordable for you.
Look for hotels in the 15th arrondissement
I’ve been devouring all your videos in the past 5 days. They are all very helpful with good information. What’s your perspective on Clamart. We are in a budget and found a good price airbnb in there. Thank you in advance
Clamart is a little far from the south of Paris, but a nice surburbian city with direct access to Paris by tramway.
@@paristoptips thank you for replying so fast.
Hello can u suggest a safe place to stay as my daughter is going alone and for the first time
Though, as for all cities, you can never be 100% safe, all the neighborhoods I talk about in the video are fine. I would maybe just avoid Montmartre. It is safe but it's also a place where people party a lot late at night, which she might love, meaning there are also more drunk people in the streets at night, especially in South Montmartre.
I stayed in Levallois-Perrett last October as a solo woman and felt very safe overall, was I lucky or is it a safe place to stay?
Levallois is very safe, you're right!
I'd say they're more touristy but some places are still very authentic.
@@Ellinillard There are 16000 people living in the 1st, on 1,8sqkm, giving a density of 8700 person per square kilometer
@@Ellinillard I am.
Can you suggested a hotel in the 1st for first timers? $250-350 range. Reviews are so mixed.
Try Melia Paris Vendôme
@@paristoptips Ty! How would you compare it to de la tamise or louvre Montana? Trying to decide between those two and what you just reccomened. Thank you!
Honestly they are all 3 good hotels. The Melia might be a little less expensive, but it's close.
The two you mentioned are closer to the Louvre, but then the Melia is closer to the Champs Elysees and the Madeleine church.
@@paristoptips TY! so really can’t go wrong with any of the 3. :)
Yes, I think each one would be a good choice, in a nice neighborhood.
I will visit Paris for the very first time next month and I booked an Airbnb apartment in 8th district near champ lyses. Is the 8th district safe and convenient?
Yes, definitely! One of the richest neighborhood...
@@paristoptips Thanks so much.
I'll be staying near La Bastille, Is this a good neigborhood?
Yes, it is, just near Le Marais. There are lots of bars there, so it can be a bit noisy in the evening, but it's lively
@@paristoptips at Richard Lenoir Avenue, Citadine Bastille Marais Apparthotel
This place should be OK
I’ll be staying in montmartre in October 2024
Hope you'll have a good time...
Agree with all except Montmartre.
Why?
Hi there, any reviews of the 13th arr, especially near tolbiac on rue de tolbiac. Is it safe to walk at night and taking metro back?
Rue de Tolbiac might seem a little scary with lot's of high-rise buildings near metro Olympiades, but it's an OK neighborhood.
@@paristoptipsthanks so much for replying merci, ah ok I have booked a hotel closer to the butte-aux-cailles end. As long as it's safe to walk at night, not too worried about the look I guess.
Closer to Butte aux Cailles will be perfect
We are looking to stay in the 9th on Rue de Londres very near Gare Saint-Lazare... is that are safe at night? Thank you.
Yes, it is. And lot's of restaurants around
@@paristoptips fantastic. Thank you very much.
If you could suggest a hotel for first timer?
What price per night?
Thank you 🇧🇷
You're welcome 🙏
First time visiting Paris this coming November 28, 2024. It's for 2 people. I need a safe place, closer to restaurants and bus station.
I'll be doing shortly a video on 5 excellent value hotels at less than 100€ per night in the heart of Paris
Can anyone tell us WHERE TO STAY SAFE IN NON-TOURISTIC PARIS where ORDINARY Parisiennes live? THANKS
You can stay in the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th or 17th arrondissements and part of the 18th, which are not touristy yet nice to stay in
Do you do tours?
No, it's not something I do 😁
Paris ❤et Rome ❤, à mon sens, sont les 2 plus belles villes du monde. Et Saint-Petersbourg en 3eme place.
D'accord pour les deux premières, mais quant à moi, je préfère Venise à Saint-Petersbourg 🙂
Merci beaucoup. @@paristoptips
What about Vanves
Vanves as a city would be OK. Porte de Vanves, inside Paris is a so-so neighborhood...
I don’t see most of the links you refer to in your presentation.
I've doublechecked, they are all on the top right corner of the screen.
Is vanves nice?
Nice, not really, nothing much to see.
But relatively secure and convenient to Paris if near the metro stations.
@@paristoptips þank you! Going t study French in Paris, cummuting from Vanves.
This part of the suburbs is quite alright...
@@paristoptips þank you. 'banlieu' has got a bad image...
True!
But not all of them. Just avoid going late at night in the blue zones on this map: sig.ville.gouv.fr/territoire/1175
❤
Thanks
can i stay in 15th arrondisments?
Absolutely. But you will have a little more transport than if you stayed in the heart of Paris.
I do not recommend Bouillon Chartier. The food is horrible, and they cheat customers by overcharging. Check your bills carefully. Check the prices.
I haven't had any of these issues, but sorry you had a bad experience
Agreed. Food is mediocre at best and the service is rushed and charmless. Best to go and look at the interesting space and leave.
@@sciagurrato1831Compte tenu des prix pratiqués, une aubaine. Ne pas oublier que l'addition est un vingtième de celle que vous paieriez dans un steak house de Manhattan.
Great vids, but with your beautiful accent and the terrible captioning translations it’s almost impossible to determine the names of over half of the places you refer to. Only on screen titling would solve the issue. I know that is time consuming. Tnx
You're right. On my actual videos, I always put subtitles, but that was not the case for this one, one of my first videos.
how about in the 18-20th arrondissements? 😂
Part of the 18th is OK, especially Montmartre, part of it is to be avoided. And the 20th also has places to avoid. Check this video: th-cam.com/video/hP1dzQ1aW2A/w-d-xo.html
You should show the names of the sights you are mentioning in the video. It’s hard to get their names just by your pronunciation.
If they are pronounced in the video, just turn on the captions. Everyting I say is always in the captions.
@@paristoptipsyou mean like the music Carnival 😂
Your videos have way too too many Ads, Ads every 2 minutes is ridiculous, 5 minutes in already 3 ads. 10 Ads in a single video is insane. It's very difficult to stay watching. I think if you want to keep your viewers stay watching your videos you should look at the the flood of ads you put in. Now I'm hesitant to follow your channel or watch any other videos of yours because of the amount of Ads.
I don't choose the number of ads, TH-cam does!
15.00 a month and all of the world of TH-cam is yours without any ads ever! Way better than Amazon or apple music or vevo or Spotify...
Never stopping and never looked back
Fun video! Thanks to the author of the channel for this fascinating video! It is interesting to see how people live in other countries! It is very important to know foreign languages on such trips. I would like to recommend to all travelers a practical guide to learning foreign languages by Yuriy Ivantsiv "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages". This book contains a lot of useful tips on how to learn a foreign language for tourists, students, entrepreneurs and anyone who needs a foreign language in life. There are a lot of good tips on how to solve problems with the language from beginner to advanced level of language learning. It turns out that the traveler only needs to know a few dialogues and you can easily travel around the world! You don't have to spend a lot of time to fully learn a foreign langua
Nice advice...
Brilliant suggestion.... Noted...... From a closet polyglot
18th is creepy and sketchy at night
Some parts of it definitely are, but not all of them
Excellent presentation. I am using your guide to take me around Paris. Thank you! 5-Star!
