- From the official studio album of The Writing on the Stall, a one-woman bathroom stall graffiti musical by Caitlin Cook.
Music & lyrics by Caitlin Cook

Produced, mixed, and mastered by Katie Buchanan - ตลก
I've never understood people's compulsion to graffiti toilet stall walls, but stuff like this does make me appreciate the strange tradition of it.
People did that since they invented writing, it's basically just in human nature to do so
Even before that, writing on cave walls. Makes you view cave paintings in a new light, doesn't it?
@@ApetureTestSubject true but we couldn't know what they thought exactly, but somewhere in Pompey you can read what people wrote and people haven't changed at all
It’s an ancient tradition, evidence dating all the way back to the Greeks/Romans
It fascinating we’ve been writing petty things in walks for centuries
well…. it’s quite fun. creating a masterpiece on the wall to speak to others, is jsut too fun
I can vouch that the “America” line was a banger
Germany 1942
Some of the lines in this video r creative af.
North korea
Afghanistan
India under British rule
I love the way she sings “holy water holy shit is this as good as it’s ever gonna get? Conversations with strangers that I have never met”
As comedic as this is supposed to be, I really like how that actually kinda has a deep meaning lol. Like… holy shit… is this as good as it’s ever gonna get?
literally "holy shit".
I used to think that too.
But then I looked back and apparently it has slightly gotten better and better.
So I just try to enjoy it, and not worry about the logistics
Does this include the "my dick is the future" part?
I originally though it was not "holy shitm is this as good as it's even gonna get?" but instead "joke (holy water/shit)" "is this as good as it's (the conversations with strangers you don't and will never know) ever gonna get?". Like, saying that even though it's funny, it's just that. You will not get to know these people, it will always just be funny and that message is all we are going to get from that stranger.
Ngl some of it was honestly slightly sad
The perfect mix of comedy and emotion

What if some of the people that originally wrote these hear this, recognize what they wrote, and go to one of her concerts one day to ask for her autograph (and possibly royalties.) She just might get to meet them in the future yet. All because of this wonderful song.
my d-- is the future?
Omfg that’d be so weird to write a joke on a bathroom stall and then later see it in this video 💀

@@IsabelaisCRINGEthis quote *bone-ified* with time
That went from “curse you society!” to a wholesome and funny song
I literally almost skipped the song because I thought it was gonna be something whiney about SoCiEtY but then it turned out to be hilarious
Reminds me of once in my school, someone wrote on the toilet wall "rest here, you probably need it brave solider, test scores might be important, but your mental state is more important, so take your time here, and calm yourselves"
Mine just has "I don't need alcohol or drugs to make bad life decisions" lol
I remember one where it said: "Hey, I hope you have a great day. And I hope it gets better for you. Because whenever I go to this stall it is because I have had a bad time, I mean one time I went here and cried for the whole break inbetween classes. And I hope my words can help you in the same way." Then under this I saw someone wrote: "I litterally just threw up because I am sick. And this made me feel better so, thanks."
One of my favorite quotes I use in some of my writing I found on a wall in a bathroom stall. It was "Even impossible says I'm possible." That was a great quote and I loved it so much
In mine they wrote translated pompeii grafiti
I remember one of the toilet stalls in my high school had the words "you're so beautiful" written on the door so you had to see it. I remember that making me cry one time. Like yeah, I am, aren't I? Very good reminder during stressful days :)
Since this album is (sadly) not getting much recognition, I really want to write how I adore this idea! The songs are so chaotic yet somehow they still make sense, and also really funny! I think this one is my favorite so far. I can't explain it, I'm not good at expressing, but damn, the concept is genius and the outcome is just awesome :))

@@panek6443 I would still say it's underrated tbh
In the wise words of Jim Gaffigan:
“Writing stuff on bathroom walls is weird, but the real weirdos are the guys who respond as if that first guy is ever gonna see it again.”
I mean, if it's at school or work, it could happen
Nah, you respond so that a completely different person can see the writing, along with your additions, and laugh even harder than they would have without them. 😂
2:24 THIS LINE IS THE BEST FUCKING ROAST EVER💀
IKR 😂
I saw this show live a few nights ago. It's as funny as these videos, and so much more meaningful and moving than I ever imagined it could be. Go see it if you can. It rocks, it rolls, and it almost answers the question "Is this as good as it's ever going to get?".
Wow, thank you so much for coming to see it and for the kind words 💛🙏
"The chamber of secrets have been opened" "Then close your legs" I DYED AT THAT PART 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"The future is in your hands"
"My dick is the future?" I laughed at that part!
Who wakes up and makes a song out of toilet graphiti???
-AND WHY IS IT ACTUALLY SO GOOD?????????
Good so I’m not the only one who has this question,
Not a song _a whole album_
I do that sometimes
The lyric "Yo girl, on a scale of 1 to America how free are tonight?" Is something I'll use someday
I don't know but that "my Dick is the future" just hits so good

There's something weirdly comforting about the "Good luck out there, human" message.

Same honestly, especially since it specifies "Human" and not "Man" or "Girl", makes it feel like it was written by something or someone inhuman yet weirdly sympathetic to us all...good luck out there whatever ya are....

i have listened to this song so many times since discovering you. this concept evokes so much joy in me i feel like i could cry. writing on walls in shared spaces is such a neat part the human experience that i feel like you’ve captured in such a funny way
Thank you so much! I so agree. It is such a unique and yet universal human experience to stumble upon bathroom graffiti, and I’m just so grateful to everyone who’s come to see the live show and listened to the album and showed me that I’m not alone in my love for the little things we write on walls

That’s literally written in my school bathroom and I’m pretty sure it’s the exact same one here
Cool.
That's actually really neat!
I come bearing the compliments of Dan povenmire
This reminds me of when i saw this thing written, that on the top said with fancy letters: "Instead of getting high I'd rather just look at you"
And on the bottom with a marker that was giving its lasts breaths: "I'd rather get high"

Boom
the way you sang "If Harry Potter taught us anything, that it's nobody deserves to live in the cloooset." and "Conversations with stangers that I've never met, and I will never meet in the future." or "Good luck out there, human." is so sweet and smooth-sounding, the way the instruments blend together into this somewhat "poppy" (not the music genre, the sounding) it's too good... but... who wakes up and thinks: "i'm gonna travel around the world and photoshoot random toilet graffitis, and make a song about it"? well, it's you... and you did a good job... all respect Caitlin...

And I wish they would show off more parts of the song
This is convincing me to bring a marker everywhere especially in bathrooms just to talk to someone
