    All now working again....👌In total with the failed Combustion Control unit & the incorrectly fitted 30Kw one, it has had 4x Combustion Control Units fitted in the last 10-days!!! @ over £320 a pop, not cheap......Looking forward to more videos...

      Wow that's crazy! Main thing is it's sorted now. Just goes to show why part numbers are so paramount to the boiler you're fitting it to when it comes to combustion

    Came across this issue today on a job. I appreciate the video. It’s not a popular Baxi model around here. It’s an expensive part and the customer only had the unit installed in 2017. Hopefully they are still in warranty.

    Hi -- yes iv'e done a couple of these burner units -- both boilers were just out of guarantee -- one a baxi 224 combi and one a potterton titanium 18kw heat only -- both units are fan , pcb + gas valve -- and what i think is that on both occasions the units failed when the boilers were in demand + the power went off -- ether a pre payment meter running out or the power being turned off at the consumer unit for some reason -- and then the power put back on while the boilers were still in demand !! your well right it's got to be poor manurfacture thats causing this in the first place -- i like your videos take care Jim .....

    Hi, It turns out that the first Combustion Control Unit the BG Gas Fitter fitted was for a 30kw Boiler BAXI Part Number 7786339 & not for the 25kw Boiler that we have & that is why he couldn't set the MAX & MIN CO2 Readings!!!! He came back the next day with the correct Baxi Part Number 7775020 But now there are 3 Red Flashes instead of 4!!! which is an ignition Fault according to the Service Manual. He says the Gas Valve isn't opening?? Could he of damaged something else by fitting the Incorrect Combustion Control Unit in the first place??

  • @peterromaniuk5771
    @peterromaniuk5771 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Just to add, I complained to BG about the persevered capabilities of the first Engineer, he was blaming his stores for sending the incorrect part? BG are sending out a "senior" Engineer tomorrow for a second opinion. It maybe that the 2nd Combustion Control Unit has a faulty Gas Valve, so needs a 3rd Unit, But the Original Gas Fitter wasn't prepared to sanction another one, So to be prepared for tomorrow, is there anything that you can check for a faulty Gas Valve? Is there a setting on it that maybe closed, or is it a case that it either lets Gas through or it doesn't?

    • @cputilitysolutions
      @cputilitysolutions  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry to hear of your troubles, there's also a coding chip which is programmed to the boiler so to make sure that's been fitted as well

    • @peterromaniuk5771
      @peterromaniuk5771 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks, TBH I don't know what the first BG Gas Fitter has fitted, to me he seemed way out of his depth & was on the phone to BAXI the whole time, from what I see from your video, it should be quite straightforward. I just hope that he hasn't damaged something else by fitting the 30kw Combustion Control Unit first? That is my major concern ATM. From a simple replacement of a failed PCB, I could potentially be looking at a replacement Boiler, if the person tomorrow can't fix it...I tried my best getting a reputable household name in & it seems to have backfired on me big style.....

    • @cputilitysolutions
      @cputilitysolutions  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@peterromaniuk5771 I don't think you have anything to worry about, as you're covered by BG they will have to get the boiler running for you. Hopefully the new correct combustion unit will sort it

    • @peterromaniuk5771
      @peterromaniuk5771 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well that's not what the first Guy said!!!! After 3-Days he just turned around & said "That's it's I can't fix it!" & washed his hands of it....Said that he would speak to his Manager & get the HomeCare Contract cancelled & refund me what I've paid......He said, he couldn't sanction any more replacement parts as they are so expensive!!!! No Shit I said.....Hence I complained & hence the "Senior" BG Engineer fingers crossed coming out tomorrow for a second Opinion.....

  • @peterromaniuk5771
    @peterromaniuk5771 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hi, A quick question, Just had a failed Fan on one of these, a EcoBlue Advance Heat 25 ERP, British Gas came out & replaced it, the Capacitor on the Motherboard had Blown. The Man from BG then struggled to set the correct Max/Min CO2 Settings? Is there a "Base" Setting for the Adjustment screws? ie All the way in or all the way out? From which you can then carry out fine adjustments? He thinks it might be a faulty Gas Valve on the New Combustion Control Unit? I know that new parts do fail, but I'm only the homeowner & not a BG Gas Registered Fitter, But before he condemns the newly fitted Combustion Control Unit, it may steer him in the right direction, he said yesterday that he had never fitted a replacement Unit before, which doesn't instil me with a lot of confidence. Thanks for any feedback that you can provide....

    • @cputilitysolutions
      @cputilitysolutions  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, all the combustion control units need setting up out of the box. All he needs to do is to check the instructions for commissioning and all the information is in there on how to adjust the gas valve. Max rate has to be between 9.2-9.4% CO2 and the minimum has to have a 0.4% difference from the max

    Why do these units fail like this?
    My daughters new house is just 3 years old (stood empty for first year) and now the 4 red led flashes. Fan spins freely.
    Obviously a pcb component has failed.
    I assume this is not a DIY job as the gas valves etc need to be reset and calibrated.

    • @cputilitysolutions
      @cputilitysolutions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seems to be a manufacturing flaw as I've changed quite a few of these now. As long as the boiler was registered you should still have warranty on it so best to give Baxi a call and definitely NOT a DIY job!

    Well this has just convinced me not to buy a Baxi 400 series if you can’t just change the fan that is doomed to fail in a short life time. Ridiculous design!

    • @cputilitysolutions
      @cputilitysolutions  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and no, there was a faulty batch produced but they've rectified the issues now. Also you'll get between 5-10yrs warranty depending on which model you go for so you wouldn't have to pay for the repair if needed within that time. I still fit a lot of these Baxi heat only boilers as they're easy to install, don't require a permanent live or pump overrun, and have a rear flue option as well. Don't be put off by the repair! 😉

    • @chrishard7616
      @chrishard7616 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cputilitysolutions Even if they are now better, conceptually, to have the fan integrated into the unit like that is just plain stupid. It's a mechanical device that will eventually fail and should be changeable easily and at low cost. To replace it in the future is around 3/4 the cost of a new boiler, plus there is the labor charge to add, crazy design so I wont be getting one, even though I think as a boiler when its working properly it's probably a good choice. Why on earth can't they make it so the fan can be easily changed at a sensible cost? Oh yes, it's so they can rip people off for overpriced spares! I've got a Glowworm Spacesaver that is now 33 years old and is still working fine, granted it's not very efficient but it's cost virtually nothing to maintain just requiring 3 fans in it's life.

  • @paulsmith2931
    @paulsmith2931 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Bet that cost nearly the price of the complete boiler, baxi are a rip off how they design some of their boilers that you have to change half the boiler because of one component failing.

    • @cputilitysolutions
