Great video, the only one on youtube that shows you how to drill the hole to feed the wire through in depth. Very helpful thanks!!!

I have the same boat and just ran the transducer wire up over the top and tucked into the padding. I also jb welded the transducer to the boat and did not drill. 12 yrs and still holding strong out on the ocean.

awesome video. I had my doubts in the beginning but u pulled off a near professional looking install.

Did the location of your transducer provide good results? It looks like you mounted it just so the center bottom of the transducer was just below the hull. That is where my manufacturer recommended it to be aligned.

Great video, now I'm off to my 97 Trophy CC. I'm hoping it will come out as clean looking as your job.

What the wire brackets called that attach and secure wire on back of the boat

I can't drill a hole through my baby's transom but I'm proud of you for doing it. I have it siliconed shooting through the hull but it's not able to fully utilize all the features that way. Maybe when my boat gets 10 years old ill think about drilling through the transom.

I can't believe they wouldn't make the connector removable so it would only require the hole to be the size of the wire.

^ this. Also, put 5200 on your screws before you screw them into the hull next time.

You never want to cut the factory connection. 1) you will void the warranty (My transducer alone was $600) and 2) You will take the risk of degrading the signal too much (unless you take the time to solder each connection). Where his pass through is is well above the water line (probably 2 feet above and not in the transom core) so there is little risk.

How come you didn't mount it inside the hull? I'm not criticizing, I'm new to this and just asking. Is external better than glassing it in? Any feedback anyone has would be helpful. Thanks

too much signal loss with ultrasound in fiberglass. Where my transducer is good to about 1500 feet in salt water if I mounted through hull it would reduce the signal strength so much I could only see about 200 feet.

We have a very deep hull on our boat. Where should we place the transducer ? We also have trim tabs and outboard motor. Wondering where the best place to mount with the least amount of interference. Anyone have any input to help me out. Thank you

Don't drill holes in your boat. Glass it inside the hull.

Agree with tpasurf below. One of very few still to this day that showed drilling through the fibreglass. Helpful video. Thanks for this.
From start to finish, how long did it take you?
    Cheers.

How did the location work? I am going to install a Hummingbird Helix 5 on my 2001 Bayliner Capri 175 and the manual suggests locating the mount only 1/4" from the bottom of the transom. It looks like you installed it 2-3" away.

How did you end up doing it and how does it work? I'm literally about to install a helix 5 on my 2001 Bayliner capri this weekend.

Definitely caulk your screws or else you'll have a rotted transom in a few years.
