Not silly at all. I like it! I use Amazon Alexa (via an Echo speaker or the phone app) to turn my layout on and off. I grouped a couple of Amazon smart plugs together and called the group "train room." Can also turn plugs on and of individually too if needed.
Great idea. I remember earlier you were using a smart plug to turn off and on all the components inside the helix. Is this switch replacing the smart switch and controlling the power to all the components inside the helix or? Tell us more please.
Centralized layout control. Great idea, without it when you shut down you always forget to turn one section off, lol.
That is quite the system you have, a real work of "art" as it were. Good thinking on the switch very professional
On off switches are amazing for large layouts. I have 2 on my layout. One for the led lights and one to turn on the dcc system.
