This man is proof you don't need money to enjoy life. You just need it for food, water, and maybe a shower every now and then. I want to go on a journey like this. Even if I die I will die a free man.
No need to travel alone. Other people like myself have the travel bug also. I am not coming in with nothing. I have auto repair skills and urban survival skills. It is really better to travel with other people.
I work by a steel mill in Illinois across from stl. I've done some adventuring around and found a "jungle hobo camp" and never knew what it was about until I watched your videos. It's been abandoned for years it seems but there is an old mattress out there, pots, pans and cups. As well as some other random stuff. Anyway cool to know likely the story of it. Best of luck man
In a couple months I will be 50 years old.. I started hitchhiking just a couple weeks after my 20th Birthday (early 90's) I never hopped trains, but had some simple rules like you set yourself. No stealing, shoplifting, I didn't even fly signs not even will work signs or east/ west signs. I would sometimes enter stores and offer work for whatever they could kick me down for pay. I would get 9 no's for every one guy that would give me a few bucks to wash windows or clean bathrooms etc. I also learned to craft for trades and to busk. I traveled with a guy for a few years (off and on) who left his home reservation and my dog (who lived 14 years).. Company was good but slowed the voyage noticeably. I spent two days in one spot out in New Mexico with no rides.. There is a good reason not to drink alcohol besides getting the spins as you put it, or for lack of funds, dehydration in some places is the real killer and alcohol will compound that risk. Also keeping a social attitude and your wits about you are very essential. Anyways I wanted to mention I ended up running with the Rainbow folk for awhile, not the LGBTQ type community but the American Gypsies.. Or vagabonds, or whatever... Honestly back in my time they were in more than just America back then. Traveling with them folk was quite interesting and all sorts you could meet that made the road their home. I am mentioning this because they are still out there but maybe not like they / we once were. We have spots we tend to hit up like Cougar Hot Springs, about 40 miles west of Eugene Oregon (Hippy Hollow), Greyhound Rock just north of Santa Cruz California, Buck Lake in the Ocalla National forest in between Daytona and Ocalla down in Florida come winter. If you ever wanted a new bit of an Adventure and a great slice of view on the whole Social side of such wandering folk like yourself, maybe you should see if you can find some of us, and see where the next Gathering is at. I think I may have another one last such voyage before my end.
@rebel 1. I do things for the adventure first. A shoestring budget limits what I can work with. If material comes from my life, great. But the lived experience is infinitely more important. 2. People don’t watch videos because of pure aesthetic value or stock footage would be our most valuable commodity. People watch for the story and intrigue. Having great equipment alone doesn’t make great art automatically. Persistence earns respect. Self-pity doesn’t. Which path do you choose? 3. Why would I take expensive equipment into inherently dangerous situations which would increase my chance of damaging said equipment or getting robbed? Makes no sense to me.
Maybe next time out there Bring a straw water filter with you. They're not very expensive and it'll probably save ya some sickness. For my old self being out in hot sunshine Wearing white shirts help reflect much heat back off my asset. 🤟🤓💙🌎💚
New subscriber bro love the adventures you been on your able to be frugal like me people like us with actual common sense we don't need a whole lot to be happy its the simple things that make us happy.
Not the beer curtains 😭😂 Glad to see another upload. I like these more raw videos tbh. I switch between you and Shiey What was the white supremacist person like?
Hello from Ireland! I really enjoyed this two-part series. Having already hitchhiked around Europe, China and SE Asia, my dream is to hitchhike around the US. To meet lots of characters and have peculiar experiences. This year may just be the year to do so. I can get a 3 month visa for the US and have enough savings as to not have to camp every night. Where would you recommend starting and what sort of route should I follow? (June, July, August). I look forward to more videos from yourself :)
Hitchwiki is a valuable resource for information on US states. I would recommend the West Coast and western part of the country in general given people there seem to have a greater belief in freedom in my experience. Just don’t go too far south because it’s scorching in the summer.
Nice adventure. If crossing the USA is old hat, what about hitchhiking/freight-hopping across Europe? Geowizard and Shiey have some great vids doing that if you haven't seen them.
Nice adventure bro But me as an European guy.. which never went out of Europe 🤣 I wouldn't advice to hide in a sewer drain in the desert.. because of poisonous snakes and big tarantula's 🤣 which tend to hide somewhere cool and in the shade. Lol. But i guess you're aware of this since you are a American dude. I'm about to backpack as well.. but for safety issues and bugs.. i always sleep in a tent. 🤣 But lots of respect to you for travelling that far! Greetings from Holland.

This is great
Loneliest feeling in the world is watching your train speed out of the yard you just escaped. You learn real quick 20/20 is hindsight.
Maybe next time out there

I don't think people are inherently good or bad they are inherently self-serving and that can manifest in good, bad or indifference.
