this is great. hearing you speak makes me think of myself. well read and articulate. we have some of the same ideaologies as well. In 2011 I packed a backpack, grabbed a gallon of water and started walking west from Tampa, Florida. lots of places, cool people, many miles. made it to Oregon 8 months later. never asked for money, always stayed clean and was polite. lots of people gave me rides and helped out with food and money, or places to refresh. picked up a cool dog in Crestone, Colorado, (he passed last year) became a wildland firefighter, lots of journeys, relationships, jobs etc. been through it all and more brother. now I'm camped in Flagstaff. been lonely, bought a roadside husky with his shots today. watching this and I'm happy.
I'm excited to see someone else do this with little to no money. This summer I'm going to be biking across the US. So it's nice to see this is possible.
everyone should do this as in a rite of passage. Out where no one knows your name, exposed to danger with no protection, where you find out a little more about yourself and your society. In ancient rites the youth would be sent off into the wild for this purpose. Come back a man or don't come back at all.
Maybe not this specifically but something like it. Actually was a very necessary voyage to learn about American society and myself and to get out of my being in my head so much
ive done it several times on I-80 and I-10. totally doable and an adventure of a lifetime. if you got the balls to do, do it. you will thank yourself when youre old like me. (44).
Humble suggestion, as a hitchhiker and freight rider For decades.5 decades Who still hitchs every summer even at 65 years old. I'd suggest that you have destination of city about 200 miles and travel across USA that way. When people See destination sign as opposed to "anywhere" sign Means your not just homeless and have no destination. It makes a difference.. good luck be safe. Lot good People out there. But many crazies who pick people Up. My tag is drifter. With hwy and railroad tracks. By the way homeless people who travel ( travelers ) Still tag bridges and by rr yards,trains.. Oh ya, screw staying on ramps, go to last part of where Ramp meets hyw. Some state cops may tell you no. Most cities that's a no go. As far as rain. Should have Brought a rain coat or tarp. Truckers: back in 80s 90s "company" truckers , which is 99 percent of truckers. Now days with insurances regulations and liability Few,very few truckers pick people. Just heard you say you want to hop freight. Bad move. I'd never advise a person who's never rode freight To do it without a experienced rider. I've seen Someone go under the wheels.. terrible. I've rode Since early 80s. One one second mistake can kill You. Train west can go west 20 miles ,100 miles west Then go north or south hundreds of miles. Or side out For days in the middle of nowhere. Few bad things If you don't freight riding. So hope you didn't.
Thanks for the input. My sign usually has a direction, I just had to get out of that spot. I’m usually not looking to go anywhere too specific. These days I just want to explore and even get a little lost. Junk trains definitely can side out wherever, even some IM yards are middle of nowhere. Sometimes you get unlucky.
I really enjoy your videos dude... You may not perceive yourself as spiritual but you seem to have a great deal of spiritual wisdom. I thought travelling State to State on the Greyhound was an adventure but I must set my standards higher😂! Hope you keep safe and continue to live life's adventures to the fullest❤
Great footage of an awesome adventure! I'm curious: are the police generally friendly towards hitch-hikers? Do they invariably check your ID/check for warrants, etc.? I enjoyed your video!
When I hitchhike I avoid big cities when possible, so most of the police are from smaller cities/towns and thus friendlier. Usually they seem amused. If you’re on the highway itself they’ll definitely run you off but on-ramps tend to be fine. Like I always say, though, it only takes one asshole to ruin your day.
Got sent to rehab in Scranton PA once 🤣 Saw multiple people get court mandated there, that spent 2 days then decided "actually nah, send me to jail, rather do that" and bailed
Enjoyed your video, it's just you need to document more , maybe show how you got food..show cars that pick you up..but good job anyways....i mean how do we know your cookies came from the garbage?? You should show them in the garbage before getting them..just my opionion tho...and you should make multiple videos..I mean your going across America..that should be 10 videos at least...
Back before I started traveling and learned the system to my advantage I worked at a Knoxville Walmart that is a hick/pro trump town not my cup of tea as a punk XD Good people but if you stay long enough in any smaller country town you learn quick! I have no problem trying to blend in but as soon as politics or trump is brought up "peace"

Your life sounds great dude, enjoy it while your health lasts!
burger king crown is absolutely vital to getting rides, i mean honestly who doesnt want to give a ride to THE burger king?
"I very much do not want to be in Scranton any more" mood. signed, someone who lives in scranton 😂
Word, dude it's so boring over here
This takes a lot of talent and resourcefulness. There's no way I'd be able to do what you did here. You're a survivor

That's like 24 hours straight of driving, I don't think you making it by the 1st hitchhiking lmao
Hank hill - That boy aint right
My online homeschool was based in Scranton lol
you gotta film in the car, that's what makes other hitchhiking videos so much more enjoyable
or at the very least getting the ride
Am I developing a fucking accent !?😂😂😂
Ayyy thats like 2 hours from me.
What is the app you use to view the trains?
My brain
reminds me of a channel called 'SlightlyHomeless' he does similar challanges like this but in korea and Japan, this is miles better though ahaha
