  • Join us as we show you how to (currently) navigate our home airport, the Pittsburgh International Airport! We show you parking, how to navigate departures and arrivals, checking bags, baggage claim, the location of car rental representatives, and so much more! Just keep in mind that Pittsburgh International Airport is undergoing a massive renovation, so be sure to check their website for accurate information in the coming months. We plan to do another video after the completion of the project in 2025!

    4:04 They do not have a shuttle for the rental cars. You pick them up on the first level of the short term garage.

    so , all the airlines fly out of one terminal? and if i want a rental car when i get there, there is walking involved. i can walk, but i got a bad hip operation and have problem a long way. seems like you get shuttled to rent a car. ariving 11pm, then catch shuttle to off site rental. hope this all goes down at 12 midnite

    • @PlumCrazyAdventures
      @PlumCrazyAdventures  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for commenting! So yes all flights go in and out of one terminal, and there is a bit of walking involved so if you’re concerned I would order a wheelchair to help you get from point A to point B. You do not get shuttled to a car, there are ready to go rentals parked in the closest parking structure, so once you’ve gone to the car rental agent they will direct you across the arrivals drive and which floor of the garage to pick up your vehicle. We’ve done midnight flights and it’s nice that there aren’t many people around so hopefully service will be quick for picking up your rental! Good luck!!!

      @@PlumCrazyAdventures thank you for your quick respones. sorry to be so picky about the distance from car rental to where the ready to go rentals are. hope we are talking 600 feet. and then on return is when i drop it off site and catch a shuttle to the airport. am i right? thank you.

      @PlumCrazyAdventures  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dumpstadee8371 I believe you drop off where you pick up, but if you’re concerned about the distance I would call the car rental agents directly to verify exact distances as we’ve never rented a car from here since it’s our home airport.

    Thank you so much for the detailed video! Can you tell me is there a website that tells you if the shuttles are running? Our daughter goes to WVU and will be parking her car in economy and then I'd like her to catch a shuttle at the next parking lot. How can we tell if they are running that day? Can you also tell me, can you walk from Economy to Extended Parking to catch the shuttle if indeed it is running? Thank you!

    • @PlumCrazyAdventures
      @PlumCrazyAdventures  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the comment! I believe they have shuttle information on the flypittsburgh.com website, but I could be wrong. She can definitely park and walk to a lot with a shuttle BUT it might be easier to just walk to the indoor moving walkway depending on where she parks. Tell her to have a safe flight!!!

      @@PlumCrazyAdventures Thank you so much for your quick reply and information! Moving walkway for the win! I just didn't know if there was some type of barrier between economy and the other parking lots that would prevent her from walking to the moving walkway. Thanks again! 15:42 Is the "Ground Transportation" where to go to get a ride to a hotel? If so, are they Ubers, Taxi's or ?

    • @PlumCrazyAdventures
      @PlumCrazyAdventures  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for commenting! So the ground transport sign is for hotels if you request a shuttle to pick you up (you’ll generally need to call your hotel after arrival to have one sent to you) and sometimes Uber/Lyft, though often they will pick you up on the standard arrivals side where most passengers are picked up from by friends/family. Hope this helps!

    • @PlumCrazyAdventures
      @PlumCrazyAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for commenting! If you go to flypittsburgh.com you will see the estimated availability for each lot category and the current cost. We would probably go with extended personally, but it depends on your budget and where you feel comfortable parking your own vehicle. Hope this helps!

    • @PlumCrazyAdventures
      @PlumCrazyAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is pretty simple, but check to see where pickup is currently as they may have moved it due to the construction happening around the airport. Thanks for commenting!

    Does shuttle take you from rental car return spot to the terminal?

    • @PlumCrazyAdventures
      @PlumCrazyAdventures  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe the rental car drop off is attached to the terminal building so you only need to walk across the arrivals traffic to get into the terminal. I have never rented a car from Pittsburgh Airport though so double check your preferred rental car company website for more detailed information.

    Great vid of the layout - really appreciate it! Quick question about the drop off - didn't see it in the vid - once a person pulls up to drop someone off at the main terminal, what level is that on? You stated there are 3 levels - do cars (not parking) pull up to the lowest 1st level to drop off, then you entered & turned right to go up the escalator to the 2nd floor bag check concourse? After that's done, do you go back down to the 1st level to go thru security/tram shuttle to the gates? If that's how it's done there, what's the 3rd level for? Thanks again for any info!

    • @PlumCrazyAdventures
      @PlumCrazyAdventures  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! So drop off is the upper level if you’re driving, which is the third floor of the current building. You’ll get dropped off, go inside to ticketing and to drop checked bags, then take an elevator or escalator to the second floor or middle floor for TSA. The first floor (or lowest level) is where you go to pick up bags after your flight, and where you would get picked up from. Hope this explanation helps!

    • @davparksoh
      @davparksoh 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok - thanks so much! Ppl landing in Pit have to go on the underground shuttle to get back to the main terminal - are they considered on level 1 when they emerge from the tram, or do they have to go up an escalator/elevator to get to level 1? So ppl leaving Pit never really mix with ppl coming back? I was thinking that departing ppl go thru TSA & then ride the shuttle were on the same level as ppl coming back (unless they then take another escalator to get down to the lower tram shuttle level) - it's a little confusing - sorry for that - @@PlumCrazyAdventures

    • @PlumCrazyAdventures
      @PlumCrazyAdventures  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davparksoh people landing will have to take the “underground” monorail used by people coming into the boarding area. It takes them to the second level of the main building, they will go out right beside TSA. To get to the lower level for checked bags and pickup there are escalators and elevators.

    • @davparksoh
      @davparksoh 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PlumCrazyAdventures Really appreciate it - and this is all within the existing or 'old' main terminal - the new terminal being built won't have the tram shuttle right? When will that terminal be operational?

    • @PlumCrazyAdventures
      @PlumCrazyAdventures  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davparksoh all of this is the old building, the new terminal is scheduled to open in 2025, and according to what we have seen and read, there won’t be a shuttle connecting the terminal to check in and TSA.

    • @PlumCrazyAdventures

      @matthewa123456 you are right, but fear of flying is certainly valid, especially if you are “lucky” enough to be on a turbulent flight. Meg isn’t a fan of roller coasters and can be a nervous flier bc she hates that drop sensation even though she knows she is perfectly safe. Thanks for commenting!
