@@eg2070 Big Boss in Metal Gear 2 literally does a speech confessing that he uses children as war tools with the goal of repeating the "war cycle" that he and Snake are a part of He was definitively a tragic misguided villain
It's even more sad when you consider why BB even believed in Santa. When you consider the wording, "He brings me presents. Or well. He used to", it suggests that it stopped happening fairly recently. This would mean that it stopped in around the time of Snake Eater or not long after. This means that The Boss could've very well been bringing Snake presents and now that he killed her and no longer receives presents, Snake thinks that he's on the naughty list forever. This is further backed up by the existence of the Santa camouflage in Snake Eater. Now who could that have belonged to? Santa *Camouflage* . I rest my case, and with it, evidence that Huey is the most despicable character in gaming history.
As a person who was confined to a wheelchair for two years, I can tell you that his motivation for evil is directly tied to that. Your butt gets real itchy.
Christopher Randolph doesn't get nearly enough credit for voicing a character as likable as Otacon, and as detestable as Huey, while using almost the EXACT SAME VOICE. That is mad talent.
It’s crazy how with almost the exact same voice, he voices a scared yet brave otaku who’s willing to do anything he can to help save the world, and also a snivelling conniving little cowardly brat who would snitch and sell out on his own organs just to survive, while still being a self righteous little prick. Amazing voice work, nothing short of genius.
Hal is the guy with the otaku line? The one after/before (I don't remember I only just got past it a few months ago) the invisible ninjurai fight in mgs1? (Been playing other games since, had to restart since I moved from epsxe to the retroarch one)
@@msmaria5039 this comment punched me in the gut in the best way. really sucks how hal barely knew his mom but reflects SO MANY of her positive qualities (loyalty, intelligence, bravery) and got nothing but similar looks and shitty luck from his dad 😔he deserves so much better than what he got
@@maldacah But I do think Hal got it better. He has a friend that's extremely loyal to him and who respects him deeply. He has a daughter who really admires him (it was never confirmed but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Hal adopted her) and if we count Revengance as canon, he has tons of women who wants to date him both for his looks and personality
Literally the most dislikeable character in video game history. - He is responsible for the deaths of most of the likeable characters in Peace Walker. - He destroyed MSF. - He is a complete coward. - He constantly pleads ignorance and blames everyone else for his actions. - He used his own son as a test subject in a potentially deadly experiment and suffocated his mom for trying to protect him. - He lies about literally everything. - Kaz's Arm - When he offed himself, he tried to take his stepdaughter with him because he is just that much of a spiteful, cowardly PoS. - He made fun of Snake for believing in Santa. - He stole research and gave the most powerful metal gear ever constructed to a group of incompetent child soldiers. - He robbed us of our chance to get revenge on Skull Face. - He forced Venom to kill dozens of his own men just so he could create a WMD to sell to Cipher and in turn mocked Venom for doing so. Honestly, screw Huey man.
He also mutated the vocal cord parisites as mother base was finally just finding a way to stop it's spread, by adding a certain radiation which led to a huge outbreak on the base. Forcing venom snake to kill eveyone who was infected and then huey had the nerve to try to call out snake on it.
the thing that bothers me the most about huey is that he looks and sounds like otacon which unconciously gave him this base trust from me because my brain said yo this is just otacon who is a good lad. Makes me think they did this on purpose for that reason.
Even In Peace walker when Big Boss Rescue Huey and present himself, Huey Said "Snake? Seems Familiar" It was a obvious Nod to Solid Snake and Hal Friendship.... But it was used to the perfect betreyal
Another thing I find funny about Huey: when Strangelove told him she'd give him a chance if he "stood up by himself" she was most definitely talking about his dependace on other people's work, telling him to learn to do his own research and stop using other, better scientists as stepping stones. Huey, of course, being Huey, thought she was taking a jab at his disability. Essentially, he took light-hearted constructive criticism to heart and made it personal. The blueprint of a bastard, he was.
standing up by yourself regularly means about will and independence, Strangelove admires strong wills, her crush was The Boss, one of the strongest soldiers in history, and Huey standing up by himself ended wrong because he's corrupted by birth, with a hard life in unsure times like post-war, ideologies too fresh about weapons and no close adults to see as a role model, he's like Yamcha from Dragon Ball after curing himself from his shyness, but a lot worse
Honestly it could also be a reference to the classic film, Doctor Strangelove, in which the German (ex-nazi) scientist who was wheelchair bound the whole movie (unknowingly) manages to stand on his two legs moments before he and everyone else dies in a nuclear strike
He wasn't the blueprint, he was the damn assembly instructions. 1. Take Asshole A. 2. Remove Asshole A's control over his lower spinal column. 3. Put the altered Asshole A into situation B. 4. Add Compatriot C and group D. 5. Let stand for two years.
@@heavymetalfishingla and that requires stairs and ladders to get between levels. technically huey's legs work, but his bones are as brittle as God's sympathy for him
If I remember right it’s not the first time he’s been tossed down them. In peace walker he’s pushed down them and you feel a little bad. Then it happens again and it’s everyone feeling good
You could already see the seeds of Huey's shitiness in Peace Walker. This is a man who complains about having to build nuclear death robots for Hot Coldman but then immediately turns around and starts building them for Big Boss.
@@DragoonCenten Big Boss was initially against the nuke addition, he was fine with the Metal Gear as Zeke is pretty awesome. Who else sides Kaz convinced him.
And it culminates with his final rant as he drifts on his raft into exile: "SNAKE! You should be on this boat! There'd have been no inspection if it weren't for your precious nuke!" That line was a masterpiece of delusional self-victimization: the nuke was always Huey's idea, as was the inspection. The lies gave him a false sense of control, but in the end they were no different from his bionic legs, which only hid the broken man who had no real foundation to stand on.
santa clause is real. the real issue is how fucking ignorant people are to historic figures and people. saint nick was a real man who really gifted good children presents. he spread love and joy and asked nothing in return. the story is exagerrated to fit new nations beyond the origin. to say santa isn't real, is not only ignorant, but it's insulting to the memory that brought about such a joyous soul. the difference is the magic and illusion of a flying sleigh with reigndeer along with krampus and elves. these are extra details that every story from history is endowed with. from tales of magicians turning water into wine or walking on water, to conjuring tricks as well as manipulations of matter which in fact, are just tricks which, when described as they are seen, sound mystical and beyond comprehension. don't insult the mans memory just because you heard an exagerrated version. where's your fucking respect! i fucking hate this planet and everybody on it. you're all fucking insultingly thick.
@@HopeyDiamond Ishmael was NOT Big Boss. He was a manifestation of Venom's original personality, helping his "new self" get on his feet. But what about Ground Zeroes? And Mission 46? A cocktail of incomplete brainwashing, hallucinations, brain damage, and trauma created a twisted version of events. Much of what we're seeing isn't real at all.
Here are the rules. Don't matter how old they are, if they believe Santa is real, you nod your head and smile. If they ask if Santa is real, you lay out the truth for them.

I still think that Venom's punishment for Huey was perfect. He sent Huey into the heartless sea, unlike his dead comrades, who he ordered to have diamonds made from their ashes instead of having been thrown into the sea.
plus, if he had his legs, he could at least use them to help paddle his raft or w/e, but without the use of his legs he could barely shift around to get his food and water, he is a very lucky man that he survived.

Isnt that the first clue that falseness is good to hold is that we hold onto a false belief about huey. We have a comedic and conceptual sense of huey but facts didnt show the rest only what was shown and said. And when he died by committing suicide and saying what gose around comes around. What mentality that is, in the real world actually exists, and if that is common good, it sounds half sword insidious while with a straight face. I thought kojima was giving a social experiment tricky us, and it did well.
Okay, here's the plan. Develop a new type of aircraft based on Santa's sleigh. Additionally, develop a suit that makes someone look quite a ways fatter than they actually are. Next, acrue funding for presents for every member of the Diamond Dogs (also, research the wants of every member of Diamond Dogs beyond being with Big Boss which would be granted anyway as an extra thing). Finally, on Christmas Eve night, activate the 'Sleigh' and fly it over Mother Base while blasting "Ho Ho Ho!" from the speakers. If Big Boss sees it, he'll be none the wiser and will even be more excited. Finally, on Christmas morning, bring everyone to the Command Platform and give out the presents. Big Boss will be handed his present by none other than 'Santa'.
@@peepeepoopoo7724 I mean in a world where people can prolong their lives and gain super human abilities thanks to parasite and nanomachines, he very well can be real in the metal gear universe
The use of Christopher Randolph’s voice to give a veteran metal gear player a base amount of trust towards Huey was actually kinda brilliant, and it subverts the expectations established by Hal’s and David’s friendship later on in the series.
Yup i fell for it i thought "Sweet big boss has an otacon" didn't occur to me this is the same cuck who killed himself trying to take his step daughter with him

It's truly amazing how Hal and Huey are polar opposites. Hal is a scientist who wants to do good for the world, and believed REX was gonna be something to make the world a better place. When he learns the truth, he's horrified about the monster he created and blames himself. Despite not being a fighter, he does everything he can to help Snake on his mission to destroy it. He even stays behind on Shadow Moses to cover his and Meryl's escape route, despite knowing the base will be bombed and he'll die in it. He loses a lot of people he loves and cares about, but still finds strength to move on and keep fighting. He goes from being a secluded man, to being a hero of the world who brings an end to the Patriots' reign. Huey is a scientist who doesn't care at all about anything, or anyone, but himself. He builds WMDs with no regards at all for what it'll do to the world and kill so many. He even tried to create a weapon on MSF's Mother Base to sell to Cipher. He doesn't care about his loved ones at all. He didn't truly love Strangelove. He put his own child at risk by trying to make him a test pilot. He tried to kill Emma when he committed suicide. He allowed the near death of MSF and got so many people killed because of his actions. Instead of facing his consequences, he arrogantly believed it wasn't his fault. He blamed everyone else for his own actions, and believes himself to somehow be the "hero". He goes from a man who seems to want to help Big Boss, to being a remorseless monster who sees others as disposable and doesn't care what terrible weapons he makes so long as he gets some sort of profit. Usually in the MGS series, people think the real bad guy was Liquid or Zero. However, I feel the real villain in the entire MGS series is Huey. Liquid at least was born into a life he didn't want and wasn't even supposed to exist. Zero at least had good intentions and wanted to make amends with Big Boss. Huey is a man though that has nothing redeeming himself at all. He's a monster who cares only about himself, and he did nothing but cause death and destruction everywhere he went and blamed everyone else around him. He's the real villain of MGS.
Allow me to add more fuel to the fire. Apparently Strangelove was the one who was coding the Patriots AI`s and her death led to the system being poorly designed including a lack of empathy and given broad instructions. Sooo...Huey is the cause of the rouge AI`s. :V
@@bjosto1251 When you guys put it that way, that would mean that literally almost every bad thing that happens in the MGS universe during and after Peace Walker can be directly traced back to being Huey's fault in some form. I say "almost" because Operation Snake Eater and the war between Zero and BB definitely caused their own problems for the global state of affairs, but it can be arguably said that those problems wouldn't have been anywhere *near* as bad were it not for Huey's later involvement. The only good thing to come from Huey was Hal, and in the long run that basically just amounted to Otacon cleaning up his father's mess (possibly even his whole family's mess, given his grandfather's presence on the Manhattan Project).
Another thing no one seems to talk about is how differently they handled killing an enemy. Otacon hesitated and ultimately missed his shot at getting revenge for Emma when Naomi told him to peg Vamp with the syringe, despite being the one person in the room who'd be justified in killing Vamp. Skullface never did jack shit to Huey besides pushing him down some stairs, and Huey williingly helped the bastard, but Huey shot him anyways and cheered for a revenge that wasn't even his own.

I love Doktor because Doktor is basically who Huey would have been if he weren't a sociopath. Doktor felt sorry for what he did building weapons as a scientist under the Soviet Union, however he didn't have a choice unlike Huey, so when he came to the west, he IMMEDIATELY SHOWED THAT HE COULD USE HIS EXPERTISE FOR GOOD. Doktor exists in the world of Metal Gear to do two things: Help disabled people with his cyborg technology, and help Raiden destroy the shitty UG's that Desperado and other PMCs built through reverse engineering his work. By the end of Rising, he's used this to SAVE potentially THOUSANDS of orphans' lives during the World Martial Incident alone, and we don't know what he did between the fall of the berlin wall and the beginning of Rising.
It's kinda cool cus it felt like Raiden was gonna be kind of powerless when it came to salvaging the lives of the kids/brains he saved during the WM incident. Like he'd saved them from the worst but they were basically screwed now anyway and would be lucky to have any semblance of a life. Then Doktor just causally lays out his entire plan (which has a nice amount of detail and makes a decent amount of sense) and is like "I got yo back homie!". Dude's a great example of the 'science hero' trope and feels useful and powerful in his own way despite having nothing resembling combat ability or ruthlessness. Huey didn’t kill Skullface to stop him from being interrogated. They never were going to interrogate him. They were going to leave him to die painfully in the name of revenge, Huey killing Skullface wasn’t to rob the player of getting to kill him, it was to show how his motives were separate from everyone else’s, showing how he never was truly working with Venom, he was working against him.
Skull Face likely would not have actually died there despite being crushed by the debris from Sahelanthropus. His parasites would have kept him alive even as maimed as he was, because the parasites kept him alive through being horrifically burned more than once. Maybe Huey didn’t kill him to stop him from being questioned, but Skull Face definitely would have been captured by someone (either the Soviets or Cipher) and Huey’s name would probably be mentioned
I believe it's a bit of both, illustrating a disconnect between Huey and Venom's goals while also robbing the player of that white whale they've been hunting all game, possibly in reference to Moby Dick
In a way, Hal sleeping with his stepmom is pretty much karma towards Huey. It's funny how through all horrible things he's done, his son sleeping with his wife is what destroys him
I think it's what Ocelot said in TPP coming to fruition. Being pissed at both himself and his wife, Huey tries to kill himself and Emma Emmerich to get back at his wife and to redeem himself after finally realizing what kinda of monster he was. He couldn't run from himself anymore.
Seriously? From what Hal said after Emma died was that his stepmom seduced him, implying that she forced herself upon him, probably without his consent. And besides, what Julia did was adultery which is basically equally unforgivable to what Huey did to Emma. I know we should be against Huey during his suicide, but should we really side with Julia who slept with her stepson?
I never really paid attention to Hal's hatred for his father when mentioned in MGS2 until Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain came out. And after seeing first hand what a jackass Huey was, it made me respect Otacon even more. Hal atoned for his sins and tried to right his wrongs. Huey would just put the blame on everyone else but himself for his screwups and just to gain sympathy because he's a two bit scientist with no original ideas himself. Plus Snake and Hal's bromance is the best, they are complete opposites, yet theres a overlap between them of not letting their lifes be dicatated by genes or predetermined destiny by the sinsof their fathers.
So uhh... admittance I've always had a soft spot for the guy. Since my first introduction to the series was Peace Walker I never hated him, just saw him as a pitiful and selfish man who didn't earn the right for me to hate him. Until like, MGSV lmao.

The complexity of Huey's lies is truly commendable. It takes quite a lot of investigation to completely know Huey is full of lies. Personally, that scene where he condemns Boss's actions to kill the sick soldiers was enough for me to throw him to the sharks.
At first I thought that Huey and Hal “Otacon” were the same people, so I felt betrayed for a bit until realizing that Huey is actually the father of Hal. When I played the mission of rescuing Huey, I thought he was Hal and was confused about why Venom went on to ‘rescue’ him that way (by putting a bag over his head and deactivating his legs while also not treating him as nice). Turned out he was deemed a traitor to DD. I was confused and thought to myself, “Otacon would never do that”. I’m thankful for the comment section for helping me realize that Huey isn’t the Otacon we know and love.

My first Metal Gear game is MGS GZ, then TPP. First time I've encountered Huey I thought he was just eccentric, then the story continued and I realized he's a man who tried to do too much, said too many lies, and blamed everyone but himself for his misfortunes. He was a good villain in TPP, despite him looking like the sanest person on Mother Base.
My first mg game is rising (because memes) and then tpp. At first I trust huey (a bit) but letter on I trust more on miller and ocelot just because I feel more safe with them.

One recording I love from MGSV is Ocelot’s interrogation after Eli stole the metal gear, where he mimics the AI from MGS2 (or vice versa): “We’re not smothering the world, you are.” “The real world isn’t making you suffer, it’s the other way around.” Huey is a prime example of what the Ai is talking about, and sadly I think we hate Huey a lot because of the Jungian psychology of the shadow, when we dislike someone a lot or maybe a case they subconsciously were identifying negative traits they share, and the fact is many of us are like this where we don’t take responsibility for our actions. I think Huey’s last recording were he’s calling us all hypocrites but then saying he’s also alone is likely a huge mirror to the player and Diamond Dogs and it’s the first time he admits his faults but pointing out he is just like us wanting to believe in legends like Big Boss, he even says “Snake is like this too isn’t he...”. He even points to DD saying he’s a wolf not a dog, something the player is willing to accept and everyone gets strangely defensive over if you point it out, Hell i felt insulted when he said it I was saying “you crossed the line Huey no one insults DD like that!”. Though I do like the trial outcome as it shows wisdom from Venom that likely even Big Boss wouldn’t show, so far Venom is willing to accept blame for actions despite their justification; killing his MSF soldiers even if they were infected was still murder in his own eyes (eye), he continues to feel guilt for Paz as I believe he thought he should of been able to find the second bomb but even then sees himself as nothing more than causing her unnecessary suffering; I think a subtle moment in all of this was when in the “retcon flashback” we all accepted at first, Big Boss was the one that suspected the second bomb, the medic even in a disillusion doesn’t want to give himself credit for saving her. Venom stabs himself to prove a point to his men when they fight each other and take out knives to potentially kill the other, essentially saying through actions “you take a knife out on another soldier you stab me in my heart.”.
I think what makes Huey even more pathetic is that even Strangelove viewed him as nothing more than a tool, using him to pass on the Boss’s will and memes. She says in her final moments in the AI Pod that she believed that the father of her child wouldn’t matter, and to pour salt on the well-deserved wounds, referred to Hal as being the child of the Boss and herself
Christopher Randolph is such an amazing voice actor! First, he managed to make you love Otacon for the majority of the series... And then, he managed to make you hate Huey for what he did, and his nuanced tone in his voice truly reflected that!
I started with MGSV, having only the most basic understanding of MGS’s story. I know and understand it now, but back then, it was mostly just memes and summaries. So going into it, I thought Huey was going to be like Hal. “Wait, his name is Emmerich? Is that Huey’s dad? Holy crap, that’s so cool! They’re even voiced by the same guy. I’m pretty sure that’s to show how similar they are.” Now, I didn’t know about the events surrounding Huey and the death of Hal. So as I continued playing the game, I was thinking “Well, yeah, he helped with the fall of Mother Base, but he’s Emmerich! He’s not a bad guy!” And then I kept listening to the cassette tapes. “Um...Huey, that’s not a good excuse.” “Wait, why would you do that? And you lied about that other thing?” “Wait, YOU DID WHAT?!” Eventually I just was thinking “What pathetic crap is this coward gonna spout this time?” But there was always this feeling. This feeling of “Was my hate justified?” And when I learned about Hal’s full backstory, I knew it was.
8:47 "But Big Boss was able to defeat ZEKE and launch Pacifica Ocean into the Pacifica _Ocean."_ Okay, that made me laugh. However, that's not technically accurate; MSF's Mother Base was off the east coast of Costa Rica in the Caribbean Sea, not the Pacific Ocean.
Huey grievances: - Made deals with XOF during the fall of MSF - Put Hal inside Sahelanthropus' cockpit - Trapped Strangelove inside the AI pod - Leaked radiation into the Diamond Dogs quarantine facility - Drowned himself and tried to drown his daughter *- Doesn't believe in Santa Claus*

For truth is never far from reach, and always available to anyone suffering under ignorance's twisted visage. You need only grasp the first rung and climb.
the thing that gets you about Huey is that he looks, sounds and even in some cases acts like Otacon (his son) who is a genuinely good and even heroic guy and a longstanding staple character of the series that the player trusts and likes. Huey, unlike his son, however, is a deeply unsympathetic sociopathic bastard. Kojima definitely did that on purpose, to make the player unconsciously overlay their positive feelings about Hal onto his father, who doesn't deserve them.
I remember first hearing the story and being like "christ!" then I saw huey and was like 'how did he drown himself?" then 5 "ooohhhh" then it all came together
can I just take a moment to say how awesome the camera work is in MGSV cutscenes? the slight shakiness, the angles, focusing, and general operation really feels like some guy is documenting the whole thing and sets the game apart well
Huey being a bastard just helps make hal and snake's relationship so much better me. He may have his father's looks but he has his mother's heart (who he barely knows because *cough* fuck you Huey *cough* )
Huey isna reference to the Kubrick's De Strangelove character. Him being crippled is also an symbol for his (as well as dr strangelove's) impotence as well as his cowardice. He is also the kind of scientist who The Unabomber described. Their main motivation isn't the benefit of other people, but surrogate activity in which their inventoins give them a sense of power and purpose. Huey looks for this and pathologically tells lies and narrate things differently in which he is indeed seen in anyway less of a man.
Dude also clearly had a love for weapons of destruction as well, despite his words, when I first played Peace Walker, during the Pupa battle, I recall him actually getting very excited at how fast it was capable of moving, even complementing himself over it, Huey is the ultimate sociopathic narcissist, but he knows what most would think of "his" creations and hides behind disgust of them, truly the biggest bastard in the series
Mission 43 pissed me off so badly because it's so obvious that he is trying to guilt Venom for killing the men to push the fact from his mind that his device allowed the parasite to mutate. There's something so irredeemably sickening about using a man's love for his comrades as ammunition to avoid your own faults.

Huey, of course, being Huey, thought she was taking a jab at his disability. Essentially, he took light-hearted constructive criticism to heart and made it personal.

@@outsideofadream not to mention I think Brock keeps him somewhat in line, I’m not very sure tbh
@@cosmicneko7225 You're right. Not in the original pilot episode, but later on as the seasons go. Brock becomes attached to the boys and does keep Rusty in line every now and again.
They did a good job at making him hatable but still made you take pity
You pitied a man that might well have tried to drown a child, sentenced dozens of men to death, stole research, and killed the woman he "loved"? I don't have pity for shit, it just gets flushed down the drain with the rest of it's kind, or buried in the woods.
@@treyatkinson7564 pity as in from the man he became not because they made you sympathize with him.
@@AJGundam I understand that you pity what he became, but I still feel exactly as i felt when i heard he may have tried to drown Emma in mgs4: shit can be polished, but it's still shit in the end.
@@treyatkinson7564 I sure pitied him in Peace Walker. However, by the time of MGS V Ground Zeroes, I saw through his bs.
You don’t pity him, you pity the people around him that has to deal with his BS
There you go
And then he lied saying he never killed anyone before after that
I believe it's a bit of both, illustrating a disconnect between Huey and Venom's goals while also robbing the player of that white whale they've been hunting all game, possibly in reference to Moby Dick
@@burnttoast.2017being cucked was the final draw .
Everyone here ignoring Hal was like 13 so his stepmom was molesting a child lmao
I don't like that people say "slept with" Hal was raped
My first playthrough of TPP: "Geez ease up on the poor guy :("
Me replaying TPP after knowing the lore: "YEAH SEND IN OCELOT WITH THE ACID SYRINGE!!"
"I didn't even knew he were born"
Also "We called him Hall" Dude can't lie for shit.
to be fair some people name babies before birth
Oh my god,
EVERYONE IT'S EVERYONE'S FAVORITE CHARACTER!!!!
So uhh... admittance I've always had a soft spot for the guy.
Since my first introduction to the series was Peace Walker I never hated him, just saw him as a pitiful and selfish man who didn't earn the right for me to hate him.
Until like, MGSV lmao.
@@legomancb12 yeah i Used to think Huey didn't know about the Inspection of msf being a Setup
But after learning that He accepted the Inspection without the consent of big Boss i understood
How dare Huey mock snake for believing in Santa, how fucking dare he
The complexity of Huey's lies is truly commendable.
I’m thankful for the comment section for helping me realize that Huey isn’t the Otacon we know and love.
that is the longest train of thought to get a name
I got my name from a fictional love interest from a real-life movie with a robot that has a similar disability named after real-life fictional ducks from a show in the 80's
I swear; the lengths some people will go to avoid straight-up saying, _"I was named after a fictional duck."_
@@KingOfFrye Back then he at ;east was somewhat of a good guy.
My first mg game is rising (because memes) and then tpp. At first I trust huey (a bit) but letter on I trust more on miller and ocelot just because I feel more safe with them.
15:17 funny that even TH-cam AI doesn't believe Huey is crying
TH-cam (CC): [Laugher]
Hal's life is a case where Huey getting NTR'd is completely acceptable.
Funny thing is, Ocelot being the expert interrogator would've seen through ALL his lies and crocodile tears and Huey still lied right 'til his exile.
Must've been tiring to put up lie after lie, especially when you have someone who's the best at detecting lies doing the asking.
Expert at detecting lies or just expert at making people break? Torture works if you need something specific and can check it right away like computer password. With enough torture everybody always talks.
@@vksasdgaming9472Doesn't mean the stuff they talk is accurate information.
@@burnttoast.2017 When you torture enough they always talk. Even if they don't know anything they will talk. Smart torturer knows that and maybe uses torture as means of confirming do they really know.
I didn’t even realize Huey was the reason the parasites mutated. Venom Snake was merciful
I love the metal gear series meti does.
Great vid, quick note: He always had hydrophobia, proved in Peace Walker when calling the codec while looking at a river. This was possible foreshadowing at the time to his suicide you mentioned, but after the release of V, also his exile.
I'd love to see a video on Ocelot, i can imagine the title "The Man who Played all Sides, Ocelot"
Always remember, NORAD has a direct hotline with Santa.
This information is on a need-to-know basis.
Huey is this series’s biggest monster, even the other villains were either misguided thinking they were doing good, or used by others with no choice. Huey is a snake in a rats body.
Huey is literally anti-otacon. He’s like the venom snake version of Hal.
How on Earth are Venom and Huey similar?
Terrible analogy
@@arsy9753I think he means in the sense that they're opposites, keep in mind Venom is a combat medic who had his mind raped and is trying to cling to sanity as he rebuilds what he lost, while Big Boss is a megalomaniac who justifies manipulating and abandoning his comrades by saying it's a part of The Boss' dream (it isn't)
Tbh I think in a clever way Huey is supposed to represent Big Boss' inability to accept failure or fix his mistakes
Such a strange concept that the design of a character was based on their son, effectively meaning the son gave birth to his father's design. Mind fuck.
Huey: I just want peace
Also huey: lets literally essentially make the current beast titan(s) from aot
Don't bring up AoTs name in a MGS video. It's disrespectful
I only played The Phantom Pain, I thought Huey was being treated unfairly, when he was actually just a backstabbing bastard the whole game
Backstabbing and treacherous, but not by ambition. He was scared of everything which looked mean and made noise. Constantly scared people are unpredictable.
@@vksasdgaming9472 justify the intentional mutation of the parasites using beta rays then. Someone who is scared wouldn't intentionally mutate a highly infectious and deadly disease to sell it to Cipher.
Imagine mocking someone who still believes in Santa. Smh, bet Christmases at Outer Heaven go hard.
One recording I love from MGSV is Ocelot’s interrogation after Eli stole the metal gear, where he mimics the AI from MGS2 (or vice versa):
“We’re not smothering the world, you are.”
“The real world isn’t making you suffer, it’s the other way around.”
Huey is a prime example of what the Ai is talking about, and sadly I think we hate Huey a lot because of the Jungian psychology of the shadow, when we dislike someone a lot or maybe a case they subconsciously were identifying negative traits they share, and the fact is many of us are like this where we don’t take responsibility for our actions.
Venom very quickly became my favorite character in all of mgs. For how little he talks and how lame it was the game not being finished he was awesome.
Great insight, that's probably what they were going for !
Amazing comment from Muzzle. Grats for over 100 likes

The guy behind the T posing Ocelots and D dog guns
He's a genious and most underrated MGSV content creator
Or was atleast idk how he is now
Jeez I give it to hal for still being able to be such a nice guy and friend since his father was on a whole other level of evil.
the memes
Sometimes you need to sacrifice the facts for the sake of a good joke.
Huey grievances:
- Made deals with XOF during the fall of MSF
- Put Hal inside Sahelanthropus' cockpit
- Trapped Strangelove inside the AI pod
- Leaked radiation into the Diamond Dogs quarantine facility
- Drowned himself and tried to drown his daughter
*- Doesn't believe in Santa Claus*
I just can't believe that Big Boss, or his body double, just let him go after everything that he's done.
When a man is raised on a steady diet of denied prospects, legacy, and lies, then that is all that man will be. For it is all he knows and all he can be.
Do not pity the fool though. For truth is never far from reach, and always available to anyone suffering under ignorance's twisted visage. You need only grasp the first rung and climb.
climb?... _what a thrill..._
the thing that gets you about Huey is that he looks, sounds and even in some cases acts like Otacon (his son) who is a genuinely good and even heroic guy and a longstanding staple character of the series that the player trusts and likes.
Venom won't toss the ashes of his men to the heartless sea. He will for Huey.
can I just take a moment to say how awesome the camera work is in MGSV cutscenes? the slight shakiness, the angles, focusing, and general operation really feels like some guy is documenting the whole thing and sets the game apart well
Huey being a bastard just helps make hal and snake's relationship so much better me.
"sahelantropus was his most desructive machine" that thing took me under 20 seconds to destroy

There's something so irredeemably sickening about using a man's love for his comrades as ammunition to avoid your own faults.
there's also the fact that Huey wouldn't be able to get his hands on the mutant strain to sell it to Cipher if Snake killed all the hosts of the parasite. He is quite literally gaslighting you so he can make a quick buck.
The fact it took me a solid minute to realise how huey drowns in a pool until I realised “oh right, no legs”
