I got overconfident (See the Dunning-Kruger Effect) and offered to do a repair job for my neighbor that needed me to attach the edge of some thin perforated sheet steel to the side of some heavy wall square tubing in a T joint. I could NOT get enough heat on the tubing to even start a puddle without eating up the thin perf sheet. Silicon bronze saved my day, it did. I only had some on hand because I saw one of your videos like this one and decided I should stock that filler. Thanks for saving my reputation!
A great and timely video, Jody. I'm in the process of TIG welding up some work tables using 16 ga. tubing and ER70-S2 to keep from blowing up the thin-wall tubing.
Got to love the Heat-Affected-Zone comparison at 7:31! This is of course what we're expecting, but it's good to see it. I've done this process now on some little coupons and it worked fine, haven't actually made anything with it yet. This sixteen gauge square tubing (and sheet) is a big issue locally.
Wow. I'll never get to this point in welding skill. But its so nice to see what it really takes to produce a fine weld (or even braze) it will improve my POS welding without a doubt.
SB is a lifesaver on old car restoration. Plenty strong for sheetmetal repair, keeps heat way down and shaves off with a Vixen file so not a lot of aggresive grinding which generates heat. Usually final dress with a flat file gets it zeroed in.
Amazing, you sir have talent and an ability to teach. Thank you. I'm just getting back into this after almost 30 years away from any Tig Torch. A lot has changed for me and the tech now is a lot to take in. Just bought a new Miller 215, it does not have all the fancy pulse control etc but I'm sure it will do fine for my current needs. I have a 69 Mustang waiting for my skills to build....watch one of your vids....go practice...watch it again... go practice and repeat as necessary.
Don't forget to tell the students to clean their filler rod. There's a large surface area on a cylindrical object. No need to introduce contaminants on the filler rod.
Hello im jeff p I love your videos but I haven't found a video on cold welding and what all kinds of metals can you use that tipe of welder on or can you do the same kind of welding with a a/c d/c tig ??? Can you let me no or if you have already done a video on this send me the lenk thank you so much for all you do I have lured a lot from you and are an essential to all of us and I have a Eastwood tig 200 ac dc still learning how to TIG weld
Great video as always! Can you please do a video on what it would look like if you ground down and finished one of those brazed joints? I am interested in more TIG braze videos. Thanks Jody!
Thanks again for video Jody... touching on subjects that I have not use in years but brings back info... (Thumbs UP) < HINT: if you doing lots of tig... GET BIG BOTTLES... you will use lots of gas>
Hello Sir. thank you very much for all your good advice. I love welding and welding machines. I have a question. How do you deal with breathing while welding? I don't mean the filtration and or clean air intakes......etc. I mean the rhythm of breathing. I find I'm holding my breath and then I slowly Miss up as I start breathing. And if I'm not holding my breath my hand move too much. It's like when you shoot a gun you have to hold your breath when you're aiming I guess
Man...... I REALLY missed watching your videos! Too much outdoor activities lately. I like that kit you built up for sale. Thanks for GREAT videos........ I really like that silicon bronze brazing. Gbyay!!!!
Oh yeah! Tig videos! Here were go baby! Jody, can I TIG Braze on the outside of a 2-Stroke dirt bike pipe? I'm thinking of duplicating the "cone pipe" look (Google that if you don't know what that it). I know the inside off that pipe is going to be full of junk and I don't want to pull it into the metal... Hence my reason foe brazing, not welding. Your thoughts?
But if you use clamping is it necessary to worry about the pull? I worked in my apprenticeship mostly with MIG MAG and use 30x30mm square tube with 2,5 or 3mm thick wall. What grinding disc do you used in this video? Why do you use the pulsing for bras and what does it mean when it puls? How can it be described? Something like the tacking operation?
Hola, se peude soldar aluminio con el proceso TIG, sin aporte y sin gas?, solo con la fusión de la antorcha de TIG? en espesores muy delgados? Saludos.
if you point you tungsten at the solid wall instead of the cut end on those t joints you dont get those blowouts. its not a heat problem its your position.
hi sir thanks for video , very instructive ; some questions help for you please - need to buy tig pulse , or double pulse , not expensive price , and try the silicone bronze on stainless ,and aluminium metal mainly - is silicone bronze available for tig welding , on sheet metal , and aluminium ? my objectif is to weld fastly with tig and less power current , that"s why the silicone bronze filler could be the solution where to order for this equipments thanks advise
Hi I'm new to TIG have been trying to learn from You tube, I hear 1 instructor saying don't put the wire in the puddle but I see you did and it works good so what should I do?
Hi Jody, with this welding technique and with the type of coating used is it possible to combine aluminum trays with a radiant copper mass? Thanks in advance for the reply. Greetings Gianluca
Hi Jody, great video thanks, could you tell me the spec of the phosphor bronze rod please, I tried to TIG braze today and it looked bad, all hissy n all, thanks from the UK
What are the practical differences between the ER70-S2 and the ER70-S6 when it comes to thin wall tubing? Any one is preferable to the other, and for what reasons? Thanks.
Hi Jody - I’m having trouble welding 2mm wall Mild steel tube to 1.8 mm plate. Weld is fine but the plate is puckering on the other side of the weld, and I can’t grind to blend out on that surface. Any tips?
I have the hardest of times not making a tiny melted puddle of base metal while having enough heat for the SiB to flow I get it that the arc is to be focused on the puddle not on the base metal .. but I find that the bronze won't flow if the base metal is cold?
Hace muchos años solde con gas argon y fue una experiencia muy grata ojala y mi dios me de licencia para volveer hacerlo,, saludos desde Oaxaca, Mexico.
Perfect timing. I've been banging my head off some thin wall tubing with the issues you mentioned (burning through/bringing contaminants forward). I'll try the lay wire technique with thicker filler tomorrow. Thanks!
So allegedly a fan approached the violinist Fritz Kreisler after a show and said, "My dear Kreisler, I would give my life to play like that," to which he replied, "Madam, I did."
I started welding after seeing Jody's first videos. I now have 4 welders past 6 years. He inspired many.

I'm 73yrs old. I'm just going to say one thing. This Man is Good.
For me the best amazing teacher, honest not show of, and he can weld any material
Best Arc Shots I have seen to date. Helpful. Thank you Jody.
A great and timely video, Jody. I'm in the process of TIG welding up some work tables using 16 ga. tubing and ER70-S2 to keep from blowing up the thin-wall tubing.
The details & phrases that you use make it super easy to learn . Keep it up. Weld done!
Always helpful for a refresh before a new project. Thanks Jody.

Just "learned" this welding type today. I absolutely love it. I still suck bad but it is so much fun.

“In the puddle”, are you dipping the tip in the fluid making contact or you mean something else?
Instructive video as always. Thanks a lot.
These videos sooth my mind after the trauma of my crappy arc welding. Pay attention brain, no more rabbit dropping welds!

Jody is the God of Welding
At 1:45 you show the word "Title". Is that intentional or a place holder?

It definitely should work, be just careful not to make an hole in the narrow metal, it happened to me and I had to fix it
Is it possible to braze a tungsten carbide tip on a steel tool using tig welding?
Would you please make a video about it?
Thank you.
Great video, tutorial and editing 👍👍
I love your videos and I would like to learn more. You have a video or course in Spanish thanks.
Jody great video thank you. Can you do a video on cold welding. Looks similar to tig pulse. Thank you.
Thanks for the awesome video Jody I’m sure he put a lot of hard work into it you the man Jody
Incase you son-in-law didn’t know, “Jody is The Godfather Of Welding On TH-cam”
Godfather of 1.1 MILLION freaking people. I can't believe that many people were interested in welding. Pretty cool!
Thankyou for your help

I did once use gas from a mig, but this did meld the wolfram pin quickly
How can i buy this kit?

Good job 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the video ! What is the purpose of the cup size?
What is the cheapest set up that you can buy for the DIY guy to get "professional" results? Thanks
if you point you tungsten at the solid wall instead of the cut end on those t joints you dont get those blowouts. its not a heat problem its your position.

I want to ask if all types of metal can be connected using TIG welder
Fused? Why yes, but steel and aluminum will be your most common workpieces.
how many mm should the welding electrode be, and what type or brand? thank
Hey friend! How do you start ..?? 2takt? 4takt?? You work with food panel???
Hi I'm new to TIG have been trying to learn from You tube, I hear 1 instructor saying don't put the wire in the puddle but I see you did and it works good so what should I do?

Now I know what TIG is. Thank you.
Mr J. Would you plz give me the episode # for DC brass tig? I’m running a 56 shorty (short hood)
Thank You 🙏🏽
Hi Jody, great video thanks, could you tell me the spec of the phosphor bronze rod please, I tried to TIG braze today and it looked bad, all hissy n all, thanks from the UK
Great videos. I have a question, should you need to place an Aluminum or SS plate under your aluminum work peace when you welding on a steel table?
I like your video my friend , you show every thing you now
You´re doing great stuff!! :)
How do you film the welding process without strips in the camera display because of HF or pulse?
What are the practical differences between the ER70-S2 and the ER70-S6 when it comes to thin wall tubing? Any one is preferable to the other, and for what reasons? Thanks.
Dan L. Probably go s2 as there is less mill scale on tubing.
Hi Jody - I’m having trouble welding 2mm wall Mild steel tube to 1.8 mm plate. Weld is fine but the plate is puckering on the other side of the weld, and I can’t grind to blend out on that surface. Any tips?
Уменьшить ток если нужен провар на всю глубину используй поддув с обратной стороны
Again, really good tig videos Jody. 😁👍 I wanted to ask what torch are you using? That purple torch is freaking sweet and I want one for sure!
I have the hardest of times not making a tiny melted puddle of base metal while having enough heat for the SiB to flow
I get it that the arc is to be focused on the puddle not on the base metal .. but I find that the bronze won't flow if the base metal is cold?
Can u do a tutorial on welding a single bevel butt joint in 1g, 2g,3g, 4g?
Finally TIG again!!!!!
Hello, can you recomand what tig filer is for magnesium
Hace muchos años solde con gas argon y fue una experiencia muy grata ojala y mi dios me de licencia para volveer hacerlo,, saludos desde Oaxaca, Mexico.
Hi can welding any steel?
Perfect timing. I've been banging my head off some thin wall tubing with the issues you mentioned (burning through/bringing contaminants forward). I'll try the lay wire technique with thicker filler tomorrow. Thanks!
Nicest arc shots available on the web!
Good 👍
