One small correction. Barrage allow you to shoot two mounts, not guns. Why does it important? Because sometimes there are two guns in one mount. So you can shoot FOUR guns with barrage. Yelling "Alpha-strike, b-e-e-ach!" is optional.
And sometimes you shoot one mount but it's a really big fuckoff superheavy mount that mandatorily consists of your heavy mount and one other mount due to how massive the gun is.
The DLC mechs are all free to download, which gives a lot of options, including two additional starter mechs: the Chomolungma and the Sagarmatha (both are named after mount Everest)
For my first campaign with buddies I was a bit sad I wouldn’t be able to let them play with the Lich or Kobold, two mechs they’ve taken interest in, because I couldn’t afford the campaigns where they’re from. But lo and behold, checking the store page revealed I as a GM had free acces to their info for my buddies to use. And it’s not even a GM exclusive thing, I as the GM just found out first. The only obligatory purchases for a GM are the core rulebook (payed version that has GM info and core NPCs) and maybe your Tabletop Simulator of choice as long as they can do hexes. As agur feeling I am restricting them from using Wallflower exclusive mechs because… try and justify how the fuck did they get a Ghengis Worldkiller or a MK I Swallowtail if they’re both out of production. (Besides I’ve read that they have some story impact on Wallflower, I do not know the specifics and even if I knew I wouldn’t want to spoil much else)
I love Lancer. I think it's actually been almost a year since the last time I ran a game. I should hit up some friends and put together a Wallflower campaign.
In case y'all didn't pick up on the vibe, this game goes off the psychological (and supernatural) deep end REAL quick. And it very much affects the combat. -Do not provoke your Gun. It is not a gun.-

(protip: negate your target's invisibility before firing a phase-modded weapon at them.)
Worth pointing out that, at level one, you have access to three mechs, the hacky Cholomunga, the vanilla and really good Everest, and the CHONKY Sagarmatha.
another slight correction - not every core is a protocol; (although in fact-checking myself I realized that like 80% of them are) some of them like the Monarch's Divine Punishment are indeed full actions and a handful like the Blackbeard's Omni-harpoons are quicks.

Boy if you're going on a villian arc from something like that I wonder what it's gonna be like when you try and tackle something like C3 or non mech units in btech
I really really like the system but I wish comp con's mission manager didn't lock you into a linear encounter order as someone who likes a more free-flowing exploration game with random encounters and such and that mission runner doesn't really let you do it. Great for players though.
As someone who have tried to comprehend both - it really isn't. Lancer is actually pretty straight forward at the beginning. But then, as you progress, game introduces you to some **whack** (see: Horus; specifically Pegasus or Lich) that suplexes and choke-holds rules until submission. BT starts with a lot of **whack** immediately. But highest of **whack** of BT is lower than it is in Lancer.
I need to play this again its been far to long Also general tip for everyone if it has Protocall, you have to activate it before you move, or do anything else at the start of your turn + You can only activate 1 Protocall per turn
Re: Protocols that's not quite right. The text is "Each Protocol can only be taken once per turn." (Core book, pg73) You can use multiple protocols in a single turn, you just can't use the same one repeatedly in the same turn.
